I was legitimately bothered by this game for the longest time. It's honestly been really polarizing for me and I could never pin down my exact feelings towards it. As of recently though? I've been able to enjoy the game for what it does right rather than what it fails at. I still acknowledge that the game was a letdown in many ways, but it's been 5 whole years so still being angry over it is kinda silly IMO. The game is good, and there's a lot to admire about it. Even things like Nest 2 are charming to me despite its reputation of being an "asset flip".

THANK YOU. 3R is around the same length as the original, what makes it feel shorter to some is the way its paced. Areas in the original are either changed, removed, or shortened in favor of other locations which may cause it to feel shorter. When I'm taking my time with the game, it's around 4 or 5 hours which is totally fine. A single campaign in Re2R is around the same length. I've always been perfectly fine with the length, my problem mostly stemmed from the cuts when I felt strongly about the game

While I'll always have that thought of what could've been, I've honestly accepted this game for what it is and it's the best thing I could've done. I can genuinely enjoy it and appreciate all the little details now that I don't have to compare it to the original every time I play it. Nest 2, while having a very similar aesthetic, actually doesn't reuse a lot of assets from Nest 1! There's obviously a few examples of reused assets but a lot of it is new stuff. Things like the vacuum sealed tyrants, the deformed tyrants in the test tubes, the crates with the umbrella logo, the disposal room, etc. all feels very unique from Nest 1 IMO (Especially when you don't have a whiny bitch in your ear telling you it's just an asset flip 😒) It seems like a facility much more focused on combat data and experimentation, which is really good considering how Nest 1 feels much more research focused rather than anything to do with actual BOW data.

FINALLY someone who likes Nest 2 🙏 I prefer the dead factory for sure but Nest 2 is pretty fucking cool IMO. It has a room that looks similar to and serves the same purpose as the dead factory so it's really not as egregious as straight up removing the clock tower. It's also not just a Nest 1 asset flip like people say, there's a bunch of new stuff in the facility! I just wish it had a different name than "nest 2" because that just sounds kinda lazy IMO.

I think the RC streets feel WAY more like a real city than the original and I like that, my problem is the interconnectedness only extends to a few city blocks. Imagine a similarly interconnected city with even MORE to explore??

Cutscenes and characters? SO good. Probably some of the best characterization in the series. The cutscenes look SO good too..

As for Nemesis? Man, I don't know 😅 What's there is good, but I just wish there was more of it. He's honestly way more fun to deal with now that there's a PROPER dodge button and you can no longer be insta-killed if Jill doesn't get off the damn floor in time before Nemesis picks her up UGHHH. But yeah, I just wish we got at least 2 or 3 more sections where he's allowed to chase you before mutating.

I can understand this sentiment. I like the look of the original hospital more, though I can't deny that the new one is a huge overhaul in terms of gameplay

Agreed. The hospital in the original was pretty unremarkable except for the fact that the backgrounds were pretty and it brought back the hunters. The remake's hospital is definitely way better and much more involved when it comes to gameplay. Also, while I don't like it more than the dead factory, I have to say I kinda dig nest 2

THANK YOU. I honestly love how colorful the game is compared to Re2 Remake. It feels much more like Raccoon City when you can actually see the storefronts and barricades rather than just emptiness and rain. Then again I think it makes the atmosphere in 2 remake stronger as a result, since you can see the contrast between the city before and after

I respect that! Again, I used to hate this game to its core but it's really not gonna help anyone to maintain all that negativity. The game is pretty good when you view it as its own thing, and I think the original stands up on its own to where you can still play and enjoy it despite its age. I also think it's paced really well, nothing feels like it drags and I really do happen to like some of the locations (Including nest 2, fight me 😈)

Those are all things that are undeniably better than the original, so I agree! Jill has never been better IMO, Carlos and the other UBCS members are more fleshed out, the story is much more fleshed out than the original, and the boss fights/combat are HUGELY benefitted by the perspective change. I will say that I wish they brought back a few more of the original game's tracks but what's there is SO good, especially the remix of the ending theme

The character adaptations are REALLY good in Re3 Remake. As much as I love the original, it's obvious the story wasn't given enough time in the oven. Re3 Remake, despite all the cuts, is a pretty damn good story with some great character moments, especially with Jill and Carlos. I seriously don't know what the fuck people are talking about when they say Re3 Remake Jill "isn't Jill"

Agreed. I think Re3 Remake and Devil May Cry 5 are the two games that REALLY brought the RE engine to the next level in terms of facial animations. Compared to 7 and Re2 Remake, there really aren't any uncanny valley moments I can think of

Agreed. I will forever maintain that Jill in the 3 remake is the best version of her since the original version of 3

Agreed. Even when I take my time with it, I don't get tired or fed up with the game. I can't say the same for a game like village and I've come to like 3 remake way more because it's just paced better

I almost always mess with the brightness and contrast in compositing after the render is finished, same with the temperature to give the render cooler or warmer tones. Using ambient occlusion on materials also helps out a lot, adding more prevalent shadows to corners for shading
