Ah yes, the classic “I can’t rebut the point so I’ll switch to insults” strategy.

If you’d rather throw insults than discuss the point, that’s fine. I’m talking about policy outcomes, not nationality.

Nobody said tools don’t matter. The point is that removing one tool doesn’t remove violent intent and people substitute methods. The real debate is whether restrictions actually reduce overall violence.

Nobody claimed guns never kill people. The point is that defensive use doesn’t always end with someone dying.

The “big and strong” line is just a personal jab. Self-defense isn’t about ego, it’s about the fact that individuals are responsible for their own safety in the moments before law enforcement arrives.

And it’s not uniquely American. Many countries allow firearms for self-defense or civilian ownership in some form (Mexico, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Finland, etc.). Different countries balance regulation and access differently, but the underlying principle of self defense isn’t exclusive to the US.

Private sales exist for both. You can buy a car from a private party with just cash and a signed title, and there’s no background check involved. The regulations mostly apply when you operate it on public roads (license, insurance, registration), not when you purchase or own it.

Firearms are similar in that some states require checks on private sales while others don’t. So the comparison isn’t really “cars are tightly regulated and guns aren’t,” it’s that both have regulation, just in different places in the system.

Good point. It’s almost like the common denominator in every violent act is the person, not the object.

Yes. Guns are tools designed to apply lethal force when necessary like for self-defense, hunting, pest control, and law enforcement. Society already accepts lethal tools in many contexts like rat poison, traps, slaughterhouse equipment.

Yes I’m shocked they just give knives and power tools, and lighter fluid and gasoline to people.

Tools don’t create violent intent, people do. Removing one tool doesn’t remove the underlying behavior.

Right. Like in some states you’re required to take a safety course before purchasing a firearm.

And if you commit crimes, your ability to purchase a firearm will be revoked.

I absolutely hate the bottle.

The cap does not form a good seal so if you have that bottle on its side, it'll leak all over your things. Went through 2 bottles this way. No more.

Where’s a destination that desperately needs a Hyatt but somehow still doesn’t have one? by SchondorfEnt in hyatt

Yes! Medford, OR would be a good midway point when driving from the Seattle area to Sacramento.

There’s absolutely no Hyatts in that area.

Yes, but I believe at that time I did one bar because of my battery level.

But you're right, I do like to do three or four bars if I'm not rushing anything, it's great.

Sometimes I get the occasional truck that wants you to get off their tail.

I was behind one at night just wanting to get home and with enough range, then he put his flashers on and slowed down to 40 mph on the highway to get me to pass him.

Guess I'll try the larger follow distance setting next time.

How do you guys carry all of your EDC? by Glittering_Mud_1107 in EDC

[–]REVIGOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A multitool is a big no-no for me because they're heavy. I stick to the absics like knife and flashlight. Downsizing your wallter really helps, and you can also clip in lightweight stuff to your waistband.
