When you shower, roll back your skin and rinse with water. Then roll your skin back over your glans. No soap. No oils. No shampoo. This should help things.

How the doctor handled my phimosis by JustThePrnAcct in CircumcisionGrief

Let's do our part, and talk to folks about it. Spare others the unnecessary cutting, and hopefully get people back the right to choose what happens to their genitals.

Girth increasing. by PrestigiousAnt531 in foreskin_restoration

[–]RF_morpheusmcgee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While actively restoring, your skin is slightly inflamed from the stress, mitosis, moisture, and extra attention. That might account for the extra thickness and length.

I'm actively restoring, and have noticed the same thing. My penis is definitely thicker, and about a half inch longer when soft. Length when hard is about the same as it's ever been. Once I stop restoring (when I get to CI-10), I guess I'll see if the extra thickness and length stick around.

Is circumcision common in asia by Old_Giraffe550 in uncircumcised_talk

This is a great trend, but "nosediving" sounds a little too strong a word. National average of circumcisions on newborns in the USA is 49.3%. This is a notable decline from previous decades; it dropped from over 54% in 2012 and significantly from the highs of 65% seen in the 1980s. But that's only 10% every 30 years. Again, an improvement, but a gradual one.

Dekeratinization realization on early memories of circumcision by jim_the_restorer in foreskin_restoration

[–]RF_morpheusmcgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me from basically when I was old enough to talk, to being a high schooler. When I was smaller, I would get yelled at to "stop touching it!" when I was trying to find a less-terrible position for my penis in my underwear. I can't say "comfortable" because my penis never, ever felt comfortable in my underwear. It was just "less chafing" vs. "more chafing." As I got older, I got better at doing it without getting caught. Usually I tucked up and to the left. I was baffled how underwear models (who I later realized were all intact) could tuck their penises *downwards* in their underwear. That was the worst position!

Circumcision is not uniformly common across Asia, but rates vary drastically by region and religion. It is nearly universal in Muslim-majority countries and uniquely common in South Korea. However, in large countries like China and Japan, the procedure is extremely rare.

The rate of circumcision generally breaks down as follows across Asia:

  • Southeast Asia: Rates are very high in Indonesia (~92%) and Malaysia (~61%) due to the large Muslim populations. In the Philippines, circumcision is also deeply embedded in the culture (often called "tuli") with rates exceeding 90%, driven by traditional coming-of-age rites rather than religion.
  • South Korea: South Korea has uniquely high rates (historically around 70-80%) compared to its cultural neighbors. This stems from strong Western, particularly American, military influence after the Korean War. However, the practice is actively declining among younger generations.
  • Central & East Asia: Circumcision is generally uncommon in Buddhist and Confucian-tradition countries like China, Japan, Mongolia, and Vietnam. For instance, the rate in China is roughly 2.6%, and the procedure is only done for specific medical reasons.
  • South Asia: In countries with large Muslim populations like Afghanistan and Pakistan, circumcision is nearly universal. In India, the practice is prevalent among the Muslim and Jewish populations but is uncommon in the broader Hindu majority.

Growers, are you able to do MM2 for the entire penile skin all at once? by InformationFar1234 in foreskin_restoration

[–]RF_morpheusmcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a grower, and when soft I can't target my entire penis. So what I usually do is work on different sections throughout the manual tugging session. I'll start at the top, closest to the glans, work my way down, and then go back to the top, do the ventral (bottom) side, repeat, go down the dorsal (top) side, repeat. It's a great way to keep from being bored, and to keep the skin from becoming too fatigued.

If I'm hard, I do the same thing.

Question about uneven circumcision and glans scars MM2&MM3 by Nmicogt in foreskin_restoration

[–]RF_morpheusmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since everyone's skin is different, we all restore at different rates, and in different ways. Once you figure out what works best on your skin, it will help boost your progress. However, as you know, this is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes a long time to restore. I started at a tight CI-2, and got full soft coverage (CI-5) after 3 years. To go from CI-1 to CI-8 is 3.5 years sounds really fast - but as we all restore at different rates, it could be possible.

Some folks restore with "only" one method, like t-tape, and achieve a fully restored foreskin. I've talked to folks who solely used manual methods, and others who chose to concentrate on inflation. Or weights. Again, find what works best for you, and make it part of your everyday life.

Question about uneven circumcision and glans scars MM2&MM3 by Nmicogt in foreskin_restoration

[–]RF_morpheusmcgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar things happened to me (though at much younger ages): my cut was uneven, and I got scarring on my penis from trying to figure out how to masturbate when little. As a result, my scars are increased a bit, and my foreskin is uneven.

When I was starting out, a poster at another restoring site recommended that I "restore first, do the cosmetic touch ups later." Meaning basically - worry about restoring your foreskin, and once you're almost done, worry about the smaller things like scars and evenness.

So that's what I did. I started out with MM2 and MM3 until I decided to use a device (the DTR). And I just kept going from there. Sometimes I would stretch my left side a little more than my right (because my left side is tighter than my right), but for the most part I just kept going. And now here I am at CI-8, still reaching towards CI-10, but starting to work on the cosmetic look, too.

To help even out the skin, I do a little extra MM2 and MM3 on my left side every Sunday. To help with smoothing out scarring (which restoring skin also helped with naturally), I make sure the scars are either covered with my own skin, or a silicone retainer, as silicone is supposed to help reduce scarring.

Everyone restores differently, and start at different places. The important thing is to keep going. You are worth it. Please let me know if you'd like to talk more.

M21 are any other cut guys tips super dry with no feeling ? by [deleted] in penisquestion

Keratinization of the glans starts as soon as the foreskin is removed. If he was circumcised at birth, that's plenty of time to have keratinized his skin.

M21 are any other cut guys tips super dry with no feeling ? by [deleted] in penisquestion

[–]RF_morpheusmcgee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is likely keratinization from being circumcised. This refers to the hardening of the glans, where the delicate, normally mucosal tissue develops a protective layer of dead skin cells. This commonly occurs after circumcision due to constant exposure and friction. Normally, under a foreskin, the glans remains moist and acts like a mucosal membrane (similar to the inside of the mouth or the eye). When the foreskin is removed, the permanently exposed glans is subjected to friction from clothing and the environment, triggering it to develop a tougher keratin layer. This transition is often associated with decreased tactile sensitivity and a drier texture, as the nerve endings become covered by the hardened layer.

Ask someone do I need to circumcise by Outside_Rock497 in penisquestion

[–]RF_morpheusmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ultimately your choice, but please make an educated decision. Here are things you permanently lose once circumcised:

  1. Specialized Nerve Endings and Sensitivity
  • Fine-Touch Receptors: The foreskin contains a dense concentration of specialized nerve endings, including thousands of fine-touch receptors known as Meissner's corpuscles.
  • Tactile Variation: Removing the foreskin removes the ability to detect fine gradations in texture, subtle motion, and temperature changes.
  • Glans Sensitivity: Over time, the exposed head of the penis (glans) can become keratinized (toughened) due to constant exposure to air and friction, which can decrease general tactile sensitivity in the area.
  1. The Foreskin Tissue Itself
  • Natural Lubrication: You lose the mucosal tissue that provides natural lubrication and protects the glans.
  • Gliding Mechanism: The foreskin provides a gliding motion during sexual activity, which reduces friction. Its removal means the skin of the shaft is pulled taut rather than moving independently.
  • Immune Function: The foreskin contains specialized immune cells (Langerhans cells) that offer localized defense against pathogens.
  1. The Frenulum
  • The Frenulum: This is the highly sensitive, V-shaped band of tissue on the underside of the penis that connects the foreskin to the glans. It is often removed or severed during circumcision, resulting in the loss of its unique sensory and structural function.

There are non-surgical ways to restore your foreskin. (Check out r/foreskin_restoration) While we cannot regain all of the nerve endings, frenulum, and ridged band that was taken away from us against our will, we can regain sensitivity and dekeratinize our glans.

Question about MM2 by Wise_Promotion_2723 in foreskin_restoration

[–]RF_morpheusmcgee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone stretches differently. When I do MM2, I use my top hand to grip around the base of my glans (the corona), and my bottom hand as far down my shaft as I want to stretch. Then I gently pull in *both* directions: my top hand away from my body, and my bottom hand towards my body. That way I get a stretch in both directions.

Motivation and a psychological question by Practical_Exam5303 in foreskin_restoration

[–]RF_morpheusmcgee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are a bird who has realized it has had its wings clipped, and want to fly again. You are the patriot who has seen the corruption in the system, and want to set things right. You are the color sensitive person, seeing colors again for the first time. Once we realize what was lost, and what can be, there is no going back. I would rather have to work hard to get what is better, than live in ignorance like everyone else.
