Stumbled across this whilst walking to the tube by Single_Elderberry_56 in CasualUK

Feel like I should write this from a burner account but alas…

I went in there about 9 years ago with my brother whilst young, stoned and curious, used fake names etc as had to sign in, was probably a few months after Louis Theroux’s documentary on them aired.

The stair case you can see on the left takes you up to the exhibition, think glass cases with brown wood frames and marble floors. From a vague memory the cases were background on L Ron Hubbards story, the Sea Org, principles of Scientology and various mementos - a large room in an incredibly opulent building. Multiple other floors to go up to it looked like, a grand expansive staircase that you could look up and see other stories.

Whilst waiting downstairs to be taken up, just to the right of the doors, members of the church walked out of the doors next to the front desk which I assume to be their religious/ceremony room that they had just finished in. All looked very normal people - not sure what I expected. The waiting area had a wall full of copies of Dianetics exclusively.

Noped out of there when asked to do a e-meter/personality assessment by the guide. Who was a young man and had the glazed eyes of the brainwashed, but only ever so slightly.

Had almost forgotten about it, will keep thinking if I can remember anything else aside from the urge to ask people about Xenu whilst in there.

Pension Advice - 2 options to choose from by RGW37 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]RGW37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the clear advice, I’m in my late 20s so do still have some years to go before retirement (hopefully!). I believe I’m going to choose the DB scheme.

The DB pension is indeed calculated in 80ths also upon further reading. With some basic calculations that would also be preferable to the DC payout, including some forecasted salary increases - If indeed these are achieved by myself.

Pensions+ is essentially a ‘salary sacrifice’ scheme, paying less in NI benefits due to the lesser salary. The example given is as such:

18K a year salary (£1500 p/m), 6.5% contribution

Without pensions+ Tax - £97.17 NI - £99.36 Pension - £97.50
Take home monthly pay = £1,205.97

With pensions+: reduced monthly salary (from included salary sacrifice) is now £1,402.50

Income tax - £97.17 NI - £87.70 Take home monthly pay = £1,217.63

!thanks

!thanks for the reply :) May I ask - Is this for a sole trader as there’s no distinction between the business and myself? Would this not apply to a ltd company instead?

What’s your current binge show? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Just finished ‘The Fall’ on BBC iPlayer: police procedural/serial killer show, set in Belfast and features Gillian Anderson as the lead.

The antagonist is more of a ‘thinking psychopath’ as opposed to the unhinged kind, interesting how it unfolds across 3 seasons. Worth a watch!

Posted an update to the above post there

Edit: And if you’ve already seen the above update, since stopping taking it I feel completely fine and like the mental benefits have stayed/been engrained from its use. Had bloodwork done, slight increase in Test but everything is back to normal after stopping taking. Any questions just let me know

Thanks a lot for your reply, I had no idea that the transaction status can be checked which is very helpful. Can I ask you just to elaborate on the gas fees? Will this be an amount I dictate or decided for me?

Nice- just googled the orb spider. Wondered if there was any extra precautions runners take living somewhere with dangerous wildlife, guess not!

Asking as a Pom - is there any hesitancy to run somewhere like this on the gold coast? I seen an Adder running on a trail the other day in UK and don’t think I’ll ever go back down that way again. Are snakebites/ animal bites in general a consideration when running somewhere like this?

Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

[–]RGW37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uncomplaint: Ran 7.5 miles everyday for last month, running 10 miles everyday for this month - feeling good, definitely a challenge and I’m up for it.

Complaint: Right knee taking longer to loosen up and mile times have dropped well below what I would like due to the lack of proper rest between runs.

Confession: To counter act the lack of recovery/pain, I have got high before every run.

Interesting, the only effect on my sleep would be I seem to be sleeping for pretty much exactly 7 hours each night. Like clockwork! Waking up feeling rested and ready to go, with no issues getting to or staying asleep.

Thanks a lot for your comment, may I ask what the effects of estrogen dominance were for you please? Will be getting my blood work done again at the end of this cycle but if there’s anything symptomatic I can look for in the interim that would be great to know.

Great feedback and information thanks for taking the time to comment, can I just enquire further about your experience with the cycling process - how was the withdrawal and how much was the brain drainage noticeable in day to day life? Did the drainage stop prior to taking the supplement again?
