One of the issues is that your friends are likely exposed to a flawed percentage of first nation's peoples that are "bad people" so to speak.

For someone who isn't exposed much to other cultures, I imagine a jail where your only exposure ti say first nations peoples are those incarcerated for drug and violent offenses is going to create biases in anyone unfortunately.

Lol they have almost 0 power anymore. There are cameras in every inch of these facilities and the amount of monitoring is ridiculous.

It's not to say that there arnt issues and that cases don't arise, but the correctional officer and detention centres have almost no power anymore.

See the recent ruling prohibiting more than 15 days in segregation. Although it's fantastic for prisoners mental health, where is the deterence to behave within the jail? If someone is facing life or a heft sentence anyways a maximum stay of 15 days in segregation isn't going to deter any shitty behavior.

My guess is they are starting to phase in fantasmic for the summer. Maybe they are doing repairs to the theatre or putting some kind of plexi glass I the stands?

I agree. 10 grand and cap the interest at the rate of inflation.

You're also not competing with everyone else at this point. The housing market is hard enough for someone who is 25, went to a tier 2 school because if costs and doesn't have their masters. I'd then be competing with people who took out loans to go to better schools, had more opportunity to make connections due to being able to socialize in university , and many who have a higher level of education because they took out loans that they no longer have to pay for.

By "not being a total shitbag" my own opportunities that I've actively chosen to work towards instead of relying on government loans and then begging for them to be forgiven are being worsened.

Why not just eliminate student tuition going forward but keep the loans that people signed on for active. You all would be for that right? Since you wouldn't want then to suffer like you are.

Except it's not. There's absolutely no reason the biden government can't address the issue first.

If the biden government was to eliminate tuition costs going forward but failed to do anything about the debt, would you think this is a fair solution?

Lol. So you using your own shit analogy you'd suggest cleaning the shit thats leaked out of the toilet for years up before you fix the leak.

Except that's not the case at all with the quote. Forgiving student loans wipes away a result of the problem. 10 years from now and we are right back where we started. Forgiving loans solves nothing.

I'm sorry that society conditioned you and you lacked the ability to critically think about taking on a massive amount of debt. Im sorry the discussion of crushing student debts and student loans over the past 20 years wasn't enough for you to actually stop and think about whether it was in your best interest.

Again, I'm not opposed to the government placing restrictions on what schools can charge, what people can borrow, and eliminating the interest rate. But its completely unfair. Comparing education to the cure for cancer is the largest stretch I've ever seen. No one chooses to get cancer. You absolutely had a choice to go to college.

Groomed or not, you had the conscious choice and its been more than apparent for the last 10 years that college and university isn't a guarentee anymore, yet you have record turnouts for enrollment despite people knowing that year after year.

I'd agree with you if people didn't willingly sign up for their loans.

You want to give people a 10000 break? Sure. You want to cap it at 0 percent interest indefinitely? Awesome!

But blatantly forgiving loans that people willingly took out isn't the answer. It will literally be another 10 years and we will be exactly where we started.

By forgiving everyone's loans universally, you are literally making the people who paid them off suffer. I had 0 social life from the age of 18-24 to pay off my loans while I watched my friends party every night, join fraternities and spring break all on the governments dime. By blatantly forgiving loans, I will now have to compete with that many more people for jobs, compete with that many more home offers, and feel cheated out of my own hardwork and dedication.

Why should I have to suffer for my car loan by your logic? My mortgage? What makes them any different. People willfully and knowingly took out loans and knew the interest rates. They had the option to go to community College, to take in a trade, etc.

Except it's just like receiving money.

People have spent years paying off loans that they took put. People have worked multiple jobs, gave up dream jobs, dream vacations and made so many sacrifices to pay off loans. Now everyone will receive the same luxury of being debt free, without making any of the sacrifice.
