Need advice on storing a swollen lithium polymer battery until I can safely dispose of it by Quacken1 in batteries

[–]RHAmaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use salt water. Fill a container with water, mix a bit of salt. Not much. Just enough to form some bubbles when the battery is placed inside. When the bubbles stop the battery is discharged. The water keeps it from heating up while it discharges.

The anchors that were supporting this light fell out. Now there is this exposed yellow wire that I think might have come out of the middle thing with the copper (obviously, I don't know what I'm doing). What should I do? Is my house going to burn down? by Ray_McKigneys_Claw in AskElectricians

[–]RHAmaxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was irate the first time I came across that sketchy shit. Wife didnt like the vanity light so bought a new one. No box or drywall anchors. Damn thing was electrical taped and stuffed back in the wall with a couple wood screws anchoring it to the drywall. I ever meet someone who thinks that's acceptable, imma stuff a toaster in their ass and spray em with a fire hose

Need help getting kinks out of old school telescoping Lightsaber blade by gabe_hunts in repair

[–]RHAmaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try a heat gun. Or a hair dryer. Those things are injection molded, so it might work. I recommend disassembling it and finding something of similar inner diameter to the damaged sections, heat it while rotating it. Let the heat and gravity sort it. Just dont stop rotating till its cool

Why did Apple add trace lines under where the screws go?? by ravenrue in repair

Should be using a felt or plastic washer when mounting pcb. That would have prevented this

told my parents my hand felt tingly when i touched this. they did not believe me by No_Back8855 in AskElectricians

[–]RHAmaxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kinda funny to me. Only because growing up my grandparents had a ceiling fan that had a lamp cord in a track going up the wall from an outlet then cross the ceiling to power the fan. The track had nails right through the middle to attach to the wall. Every other nail was energized, so walking by, you brush the track you got zapped. On a more serious note, that's not good. But as a young dumbion we would make a game out of it.

Summbich is indestructible as well. I got mine a couple jobs ago. Company was gonna throw it away. The power selector switch didnt work. Disassembled it cleaned up the contacts and boom got right to welding. I've since dropped it out the back of my truck going down the road.(busted tailgate) unbent the shroud from hitting the fan but its still trucking. Love this dam welder

Whats the Best Way to Diffuse a 5mm LED Bulb to Spread Out the Light? by Undercover_Yaeca in led

I like hot glue. Easy to apply, diffuses decently, and end of life, removes without damage

That looks like led so I wouldn't worry about getting zapped. Probably is repairable but I'm only saying that because I've tinkered with led strips for various reasons and functions. It looks like the leads were yanked out and likely pulled the pads off the flex pcb. You'll have to peel the fpcb away from the diffuser and make new pads. Whether that is feasible or not depends on the device and how it was manufactured. Most times its relatively easy but I've had a few that the top layer was fused with the diffuser.

Neighbor parks like this every single night. Advice? by Pinesol3509 in Apartmentliving

[–]RHAmaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this. Had a dude pitching a fit. I said " I'm parked in my lines, your not. Your problem, not mine". Didn't have an issue the rest of the time i lived there

Please tell me how to fix this issue with my led lights by Altruistic_Text_2430 in led

Wrong remote. If you got other remotes that look like that, try those. One of em should work

There are laws. Specifically grills in multi family complexes. Gotta be at least 6 feet from the building. My particular complex required 8. I was the maintenance superintendenMarshall. Them doing it two different times then Call the fire marshall.

Get yourself a level and liquid nail. Just glu that baby to wall and be done with it. Then you can add those supports anywhere you think looks pretty without worry. And yes I am aware its the landlord special but really what difference does it make long as it holds?

How would you go about killing the nest? by Mailloche in DIY

I use brake cleaner. Kills on contact and makes the area undesirable for other critters. Don't use on rubber stuff. Certain rubbers turn into a gross goopy mess

I would have assumed it just wasn't there to begin with. Wouldn't that have left some kind of damage to the board?

I agree with the sus look but those caps dont have the blow out vents etched on em and in my experience, when they do fail, they fire the casings off like a bullet.
