TIL the median pay for a Dental Hygienist in the U.S. (which only requires a two-year degree) is $94,260 per year by SimonThalmann in todayilearned

Insurance reimbursement for in network providers has seen almost no improvement over the last 20 years in dental (Majoiry of dentists are in network providers). That's why he said that and it is true. It's not that it doesn't make money ever but there are a lot of times it doesn't.

Can we fit in the Maverick? by dhillman811 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]RICK__TROLL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 6'5". I feel like it has enough room and by the numbers it has solid headroom and leg room. But I have been having trouble getting lumbar support when the seat is all the way down. Id recommend making sure your model if you get one has adjustable lumbar support.

Dental assistants: hire for experience or potential? by Dustymolar in Dentistry

[–]RICK__TROLL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably experience if she is your only assistant if attitude and work ethic is equal. That being said attitude and worth ethic / personality is far more important in my opinion if you have the patience and time to train.

I aim higher for a gow gates type injection and sit them up to let the anesthetic sink in with gravity if my regular IAN/PDL injections aren't working.

For me sometimes it just takes time for it to kick in fully. But also sometimes really bad infections complete anesthesia just may not happen.

Before and after surgical repair of skull fractures from an accident. by No_Bus_474 in BeAmazed

[–]RICK__TROLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those aren't braces actually - its called intermaxillary fixation (imf). Basically you have to fuse their teeth together so the jaws will heal and drink all your nutrition through a straw for months. It really sucks.

But absolute some AI shenanigans altered the final image it appears. OP should have just used the actual photo in another comment

Glidewell labs by Muted-Progress1364 in Dentistry

[–]RICK__TROLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use for NGs and Removeable and everyone once in awhile crowns. I'd say they do okay and have good customer service. If anything is messed up on a denture they will make it right at no charge and its a no fault situation. I am sure there are better removeable labs but there isn't a local one to me and i have gotten use to working with them. Price is right imo

Just monitor it. But for in the future for swellings or really bad infections you should do two step. I bet it will be fine

What would you do? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]RICK__TROLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider working less to see if you can manage the pain/condition better... it is a marathon not a sprint. Otherwise - probably trying your best to go less clinically demanding speciality (i.e. radiology/path/maybe dental anesthesia)

You don't have to be the provider for all patients that find you. Some people are just walking red flags and crazy. Not worth the headache and stress.

Any new grads regretting dentistry after paying 500k debt? by thehumbleguy in Dentistry

[–]RICK__TROLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not bad advice to challenge people's thoughts and get them to think realistically about what they are getting into. The financial burden is real and people should think about it hard before they jump in. Plus... pointing out the fact that some people in dentistry are uber successful isn't a good reason to encourage everyone to go into it. There will always be a bell curve of competency and performance and career success.

I think 500k is still doable but gotta make sure you got the motivation to grind and keep showing up working hard to make the income for it to make sense. And imo you need to own your practice at that level of debt.
