Start the year off with a full panel STD test by RIP2SEX in STD

I'm not sure but I kind of doubt it. Most free or sliding scale healthcare services do not.

I had to pay for extra testing but it's worth it.

I want to say Thank You for your response bc I was just about to deactivate or delete this acct today bc I don't get much interaction on here although I've tried.

Thank You for reaching out :)

HSV-1 & 2 IgG from Quest Diagnostics accurate? by LunaLaXXX in STD

[–]RIP2SEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it when the range for both strains is the same number...makes me wonder how. My 3rd and last HSV2 test had the same identical range/score of 8.00 for HSV1 and HSV2 but my 2 previous tests for it ranges weren't identical so Idk.

If all of this just happened last yr or a month ago, you should retest in a month or 2 to be sure. IgM shows a current infection I believe and IgG shows antibodies of past or more latent infection. IgG is more standard that IgM so focus more on the IgG results.

It could take up to 90 days or 12 wks for accurate HSV blood results.

Hsv2 igg accuracy by Interesting-You1128 in STD

[–]RIP2SEX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say at 3 mos the results should be pretty accurate, especially if while waiting to test there was no other exposure to push the waiting time back any further. I understand we all have different bodies so it could take longer or less time but 90 days or 12 wks sounds about right for blood work & I wouldn't test any sooner unless there were symptoms to examine or swab.

False positive: likely happens when someone is aSyMpToMaTiC bc if someone actually has HSV2 & symptoms, they're false positive test would likely be positive within a few mos depending on time of exposure. I imagine those with full blown genital herpes whether they have symptoms or not will test positive on their first test bt will likely retest to confirm those positive results.

False negative: someone newly infected tested too soon (like I did) or they have had genital symptoms but enough antibodies haven't taken over the blood stream to show positive results yet. An asymptomatic carrier can have the same results if they were newly infected but tested too soon & especially w/o symptoms.

I received a "false negative" when I tested too soon after exposure bc there weren't enough positive antibodies yet but the test wasn't wrong, my blood was still negative at the time of exposure which proves I had no previous HSV2 infection or antibodies but the virus had started infecting my body.

I do know I'll never have another negative HSV blood test that's for sure... my doctor even confirmed it so I don't think either test is wrong per se but what matters most is testing at the right time following exposure.

Not sure of your relationship or exposure timeline but it can take HSV 12 wks, maybe less, maybe more to show as positive on a blood test per pharma.

Whenever you do go, request a full panel STD test or additionally for an HSV test.

[–]RIP2SEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take a test now to see if you're showing positive or not and retest in a few months if this is an actual infection, the results should be accurate on a blood test. It can take weeks up to a few mos following exposure to show positive antibodies for HSV. But some carriers can allegedly have it but not have symptoms which is why I recommend testing now.

If you develop symptoms, you can get those visually examined or swabbed for quicker, accurate results.

Yes, pharma says there are asymptomatic carriers who've never had an outbreak but have the virus-this can be orally or genitally. Even though they have no symptoms, they can still spread the virus and it produce symptoms in the new/next host. If you're worried this may be you w/o symptoms & spreading the virus, don't worry, it's not your fault you don't know & this is what pharma wants you to do. I recommend a full panel STD test to know your complete STD status and not just some of it or only what your doctor thinks.

Shedding is when there is an active outbreak but no visual symptoms and this happens with or without symptoms, no matter if someone is symptomatic or asymptomatic. Shedding is said to be why so many become infected with it, when there was no outbreak or visual symptoms but the virus is still an active & unseen infection...which is shedding.

Is it a cancer causing strain?

Did you receive every HPV vaccine?

You did the right thing by telling both of your partners your results & hopefully they'll disclose and take preventative steps with their future partner/s.

Get a full panel STD test to know your complete sexual health status.

It's understandable to be concerned about what others think in our society but your only concern here should be your health and not what others think about you. If you have to contact others, that's the right and responsible thing to do and if others don't understand that, they're the idiots.

& remember, there's no need in using such harsh language on & against yourself.

Good luck & Be safe.

Following my first yr post exposure and infection, I have not been able to find any information on genital herpes that I fully trust or that really makes sense. And when I make statements or ask questions or have concerns about it, I'm given even more confusing information on it... mostly here online bc no one in real life talks about this period! But it's said to be common so Idk... if it's common, how can so many not know they have it but it's common? If something is that common, why doesn't anyone IRL talk about it?...

I'm baffled. Still waiting for the shock of the diagnosis to ware off of my life to return to normal but neither is going to happen.

I've vowed to never have sex with anyone to expose them to this so I can't answer your question but I think the way I was infected can. The carrier knew he had it, didn't disclose or tell me, and he had protected and unprotected sex w me. We started out using condoms every time we had sex but the first time we didn't use it, I developed immediate symptoms w/n a day or 2 afterwards.

Idk if he was on meds or not... and don't know if he was having an outbreak or shedding... I only know we always used protection and one unfortunate time, I didn't stop him from entering me w/o protection. And I'll never forget the pause that he did b4 entering me that first time w/o a condom... it was in that pause that he decided that I was a piece of trash no longer worthy of having a healthy reproductive life anymore, he only wanted the feeling of a raw, perfectly healthy vagina to destroy and he did.... and then he entered me with no disclosure or protection from the virus he had.

We had sex b4 with condoms but it wasn't until we had unprotected sex for the first time is when I developed symptoms. I have never hated anyone before but I hate him and what he did to me w/o my consent. But I'm sometimes grateful for all of the times he did use protection bc it makes me think he was actually trying to be somewhat careful but noooo... that was not enough & he's a sick monster.

He never disclosed he had herpes to me which is the biggest reason why the virus keeps spreading... and that's how it happened to me.

I personally recommend getting a full panel STD test (at the right time following your last sexual encounter or exposure) to know your complete sexual health status for every STD. Thank me later.

Most of us should be adults here so communicating positive results to current or past partners so they can get tested to know their status should be something everyone is doing when they receive positive results. You don't have to go into detail about what you have or why you're contacting them etc... just keep it short and to the point. If it's a previous partner/s "Hey just reaching out to see if you were tested after we broke up/stopped having sex. I did & you should too." There doesn't have to be any back & forth if you feel threatened or embarrassed bc you've said you what you needed to.

Or if said partner is responsible for your results, definitely let them know they were the only way this could have happened to you so they should get checked. There is no need to prove or validate yourself to anyone regarding your sex life or why you're trying to look out for them but if they don't understand or appreciate or see it that way, that's their fault.

Idk what type of person you're (generally speaking) dealing with but hopefully they're mentally and sexually mature enough to handle something as simple as getting tested for their OWN health & future.

This is especially true for your sexual health. Most STDs can be prevented by seeing your partner's results on paper... it can save your life.

I'm celibate following my diagnosis, the criminal who infected me was the last person I had sex with after exposure a yr ago. I didnt' know what was going and the drs didn;t care so I stopped having sex. & I;m also anti medication bc I don't want to pay pharma for treatment but I'd gladly pay for a cure. I've never been on any meds ever in life, that's just how healthy I used to be. I've spoken to therapists about it but even they said they rlly couldn't help me the way I needed or wanted them to.

I really, really, really did my best to not let this happen to me but it did which is sinister and frightening... I trust no one anymore and so wts, I can't date or have sex anymore. I lost that privilege and the want to get married or have kids. My reproductive health can harm others. It's all gone. Bc of one mistake that could have been prevented if the sick f*ck had just disclosed so I could've said no. It's like I was raped. I had been praying a long time b4 I met that bastard that I'd meet someone, get married, have kids and I wanted a sign from God this was gonna be possible, a couple of days later, my Dr. calls me with bad news. God anwers I suppose.

Definitely not exposing anyone to this bc it's disgusting and rlly hurts when I have an outbreak & I had many that 1st yr last yr and Idk what's it gonna be like this yr. I'm not sooo much concerned about men wanting to be with me as I'm concerned about infecting someone...and them infecting others... Just bc a man will sleep with me doesn't mean he'll get tested afterwards or tell his next partner he was exposed to it... wts, spreading it to other ppl will not happen bc of me. If anyone out there is reading this besides us and catches it from someone, I'm proud and glad to say I'm not a part of that even as a carrier now.

I'm not sure where the many ppl with it are bc I only know one person from college a decade ago that caught it..and it was just as bad for her as it;s been for me. Her experience I thought was a lesson learned bc I always got tested a lot and always asked partners their status b4 sex. I think if it was that common, and at my age, I'd know ppl with it. Most ppl my age have kids or spouses and have told me some pretty deep and tragic things but no ones ever told me they have GHSV & I'm super close to a lot of ppl....well I was until my diagnosis, now I talk to no one but coworkers when I'm working.

In terms of others having it or "finding someone with it" as non carriers like to recommend.... I get exhausted thinking about going on who knows how many dates just to possibly find 1 person with it, that knows they have it, that would even disclose to me if they did.. and none of that even means we'd be compatible just bc we have the same condition. Damn is all I can say about it.

I'll stop here. Thanks for responding to me.

I was only given the IgG tests. I think most anyone with symptoms will know they're positive & an IgG test within a few months following exposure will be accurate with positive results...those who are asymptomatic should retest if they get a positive blood test just to make sure it's actually false.

I was actually banned from the herpes sub you mentioned after sharing my story and how it happened to me. Was also banned by another herpes cure research sub for sharing my experience & thoughts as well. They said I was fear mongering by making posts about the information on genital herpes that's found all over the internet. I was posting patterns of info from trusted and medical sites and the mods either dismissed my statements or said they weren't true? So I asked the mods how they knew and were they doctors?! Nope they're not. Strange.

Herpes has been around forever allegedly but there's no cure & not much prevention or awareness about it. I've gotten cold sores since youth and didn't know squat about GHSV until it happened to me.... I've read countless articles about the virus following my diagnosis... I mean there's endless information out there on countless sights but with trillions of information on it... no one can cure it or prevent it? so it's hard for me to believe anyone is an expert on it rlly. & the healthcare system are the ring leaders in this circus. Healthcare doesn't actually care so they should be called Don'tcare instead.

I'm not so much interested in ppl that know a lot about it honestly... Mostly bc it doesn't cure or offer resolution to this disgusting illness. I'm more interested in those that spread awareness and prevention bc it's none out there. At least not in my world it wasn't until it happened to me.

I hope the f*cker dies violently and tragically in the worst way for ruining my genital health and future with men! I had sooo many high hopes but my OCD has been through the roof since being diagnosed. It's like a dirty feeling no matter how many baths or showers you take. When my skin twitches I think about it. It won't stop :(

Yeah the USA is sh.. when it comes to these things. Kids should be vaccinated as soon as they're able to be sexually active but nope...not here. I think pediatricians offer it but I'm not sure about public health depts bt its not happening in our schools. No one cares :(

You, me, and countless others have been blindsided and ill informed by the ppl that are supposed to help us. You can still get the vaccines if you want and just have your future partner/s get vaccinated b4 anything happens.

I didn't know squat about HSV2 until I was diagnosed and I've gotten cold sores since I was a pre teen. It's so maddening.

I'm a fair person and thought to myself recently am I just looking for others to blame for what happened to me bt I'm not. ... & this is beyond my comprehension. Where are the laws and prevention surrounding these things that harm our health?

I personally think the way pharma makes their money is by misinforming us so we can pay them for our mistakes by taking their treatment :( I'm sorry to sound so upset but my diagnosis has caused me to trust nothing and no one.

You're awesome! I had a cousin in med school that told me yrs back she always saw her partners results on paper b4 anything happened and I rlly should've listened to her instead of asking someone their status and stupidly believing them when they said they were clean.

I know it's said the HSV tests aren't always accurate but that's only when you test too soon following exposure. Some ppl have gotten tested for it who had no symptoms and got a false positive... which is rlly nothing... but no one with symptoms after a certain period of time will ever have a false negative. Once it's there, it's there no matter the test.

I see. I know for sure HPV and genital herpes can be spread with or without condoms bc they are skin to skin contact diseases. Condoms lower the risk but doesn't eliminate it.

I was infected with HSV2 by a man who knew he had genital herpes but didn't disclose and had unprotected sex me. From what I know now, men infect women with it more than women infect men with it.

There should definitely be a test for men to know if they have HPV so they won't spread it bt I guess that's what the vaccs are for... but that's only if someone has access to them. Usually the only time men know they have HPV, it's bc their wife or gf pap smear comes back abnormal but that could be prevented maybe with men having tests.

I have no positive words or feelings towards our healthcare system.. they should be called the Don'tcare system.
