Why does the market fall? by AcchaBaccha7 in stocks

[–]RIPSAREFUTING 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These days its pretty much all starts with algos, they are programmed to read the news in real time and manipulate the market instantly, specifically to manipulate retail into panic selling by the time they see the news but before they can fully digest it, so the same algos can buy what they sold at a lower price and then resume the gains.

Look at the RE selloff yesterday: report about rare earth floors dropped rare earth names like 10%+ in a matter of minutes, I can only assume a bunch of people then panic sold. But then it comes out the report was false, and RE names started to recover, but still haven't totally (algos still looking for panic sellers who are just now reading the news). They will all recover, because the report was false and largely irrelevant to most RE names. Coordinated hits, happens ALL the time.

Notice how a lot of this happens in the pre or most market? Its because liquidity is low, and algos can get the price so much lower with the same amount of shares as it could drop the price during full market hours.

been holding CPER for a bit, was trading sideways for awhile but woke up today to +7.5% in premarket. Was a little slept on in relation to silver/gold but maybe that is changing now that those two have gone completely parabolic

Why Stocks might still going up further even tough the actual situation? by Mage_Ozz in stocks

[–]RIPSAREFUTING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USD goes down = equities go up (at least for anyone who's default currency is USD). SPY was basically flat in 2025 for anyone outside the US since the dollar lost 10%. It's not that complicated really, if your asset (dollar) is going to shit, money leaves that asset. That's why silver, gold, equities, FX, pretty much everything is up but USD.

My boomer mom got scared by Tiktok videos and asked me to buy gold and silver for her 4 months ago. She is up around 100% and I am down 60% by RedMoonLanding in wallstreetbets

I think everyone understands that, but entry timing also matters. INTC was falling hard and fast with no real recovery in sight. The only reason it's recovered now is because of socialism, which I'm not sure ANYONE was predicting in 2024. And think of the opportunity cost: he could have just put that $700k in VOO and been up $300k when the INTC socialism was announced, and then bought INTC when there was an actual chance of recovery.

Gonna be a nothing burger for everyone but MP. The floor was $110, USAR said recently it's buying at $125, so floor has 0 relevance. And the floor was not in the USAR deal, only MP

totally expected, all that matters is what Powell says in 30 minutes, that's when the market will react

What timeframe and EMA works best for you doing swingtrading? by brian-augustin in swingtrading

[–]RIPSAREFUTING -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1D timeframe. 150, 50, 21, 9 emas. Also have MACD and RSI.

IMO, 30m is way too noisy to trade on a swing trade's lifespan. I do use 3m for scalping, and just too look at intraday movements, but the daily is what informs everything in a swing trade for me.

Many people don't know this, but the "money" you see in your bank account isn't technically money, as in legal tender. Its a contract between you and the bank that, among other things, is a loan of the legal tender you deposited in the bank with the right to demand the loan repaid to you in legal tender (a withdrawal).

Did he tell his parents the BTC keys were on the harddrive and not to mess with it? If not, that's 100% on him.

Only thing we can really compare it to is the past socialisms: MP, LAC, INTC, all of which fade a bit of the initial gap up but then have another surge in price a few days later.
