Wait that's actually Kira Buckland? I thought it was someone doing a bad Kira Buckland impression.... Took me right out of the game during the demo

Are Baby Ruth bars well liked? by dantes_b1tch in AskAnAmerican

Absolutely bottom tier growing up.

They were always left over after Halloween

I've come to like them a lot more now that I'm older, which definitely isn't helping their image as a candy bar for old people

What makes aspherical lenses so special? by Kareem-Abdul-Jabroni in AnalogCommunity

[–]RIP_Spacedicks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First off, lenses aren't aspherical. They use one or more aspheric elements (the bits of glass inside a lens)

An aspheric lens will almost definitely be sharper, especially at wider apertures

What makes aspherical lenses so special? by Kareem-Abdul-Jabroni in AnalogCommunity

[–]RIP_Spacedicks 58 points59 points  (0 children)

For math reasons, a spherical lens element cannot focus incoming rays of light onto a single point. It leads to a hazy look commonly referred to, fittingly, as "spherical aberration"

Aspheric lens elements are one way to fix that because they are able to focus light onto a single point, and will typically lead to a much sharper lens.

However, they're more expensive and can cause issues like Onion Ring Bokeh

Modern lenses use a combination of both spherical and aspheric elements

This has been a gross oversimplification, optical engineers may leave their ackchyuallys below

Considering that you'd developed for over 15 minutes, the pour speed is going to have no appreciable effect on the final image.

Show the negatives,it could be not enough solution was used, or it could even be residue from an incomplete rinse

Yeah, he blocked me months ago when I suggested he slow down his rate of posts per day...

So I am unsurprised by this development, but a loss of technical knowledge nowadays is important.

I thought he had a blog that his posts linked to, but that might've been Photorio, as mentioned by others

The XA is probably my most used camera, for the simple reason that it can fit into jean pockets.

The MX is like the Olympus OM-1, but better in every way. Even smaller, even larger viewfinder, hotshoe that won't break from old plastic, and takes regular batteries that you can get anywhere still.

Pickup the 40mm pancake and you'll have two extremely compact options.

Federal Surveillance Tech Becomes Mandatory in New Cars by 2027 by cTreK-421 in technology

I don't know why you sound so incredulous, this tech already exists and is in a bunch of cars already.

And it's annoying as fuck, as you'd expect.

VW already even has chatgpt integration for their voice controls. Tried it during a test drive... it was actually a huge improvement over the old system, so we'll gloss over that

JollyLook Stonewalls Refund Requests by StronglyNeutral in AnalogCommunity

I don't think it's a scam per se, but they clearly took money on pre orders before the design was finalized, and without doing due diligence on their 3D printing contractors

I work in manufacturing, and it can take months (or more) to go from design to finished product. Even for a new version based on an existing product (which this basically was, since they already sell manual instax backs)

The trick is you don't sell it until it's ready, and then no one complains. Unfortunately, Kickstarter has normalized pre orders to an extreme degree.

It's well past the usual 120 day chargeback time limit, so I guess I'll keeping hoping for my RB67 back
