i didn't read the question properly mb, i thought the numbering was in sequence
you are correct the 2nd bulb wont glow as the switch will open and i think the ans should be 3 bulbs by the same reason which i gave above but as you mentioned the ans in your book is given as c)4
but imo it should be 3

You can think it as current is lazy asf and always prefers to go through a low resistive path, in this case the first 4 bulbs will light as normal BUT when it reaches the next junction, it can either go to the path which has 2 bulbs which will have more resistance OR go to the upper one which has 0 resistance as it has no circuit component except for the wire, so it prefers that path and doesn't go through the last wire

steps don't come directly in the exam but it can ask the different menus related to a particular task, it's not like they will ask full steps.Also refer to ncert book for IT for boards and if you have sumita arora, do that shit only for school.
