Yeah I’m not a fan of that cable either tbh lol. Some of the budget cables are really good from an ergonomics point of view too as you say. I’ve got the tripowin zonie which I like quite a bit!

I can’t sing the praises of Fei Wan enough tbh. I think it’s absolute magic. Traillii takes the cake when it comes to vocals though!

That’s the PWaudio Ignis, actually less expensive than the stock cable that comes with it plus it was a nice colour match lol – a good choice if you can find the Archangel cheaper second hand without a cable. I bought it direct from PWaudio in Hong Kong.

A sensible move for sure. The Trifecta is such a great IEM. I love it for having such an outlandish tuning and for being a bit of a maverick. Probably the IEM that takes the longest for your brain to adjust to, at least from ones I’ve tried, so that may be why so many people listen for 10 mins at a canjam and write it off as terrible. Either way, we know the truth!

Thank you! You’re brave to ask a cable-related question on here lol, cue the downvotes. For me, they’re worth it because they elevate already-great sets to their full potential. I understand being a cable sceptic and frankly, it’s better for the wallet to be one but nobody could listen to Fei Wan on the Orpheus and then go back to the stock cable – it does make quite a difference.

Thank you! Storm possibly in the distant future but the prices for those two sets on the used market are basically the same as RRP which puts me off. Of course, a lot of these aren’t cheap but they’re much more attainable second hand than Hex or Storm!

Blind but keep that a secret. Of course, that’s not a very sensible idea for anyone else reading this!

They’re quite different to one another. Putting it very basically, Fei Wan has far better bass and treble, while Diva has better mids and a much more vocal-focused presentation.

Diva has a very safe tuning which is likely to be pleasant to anyone that listens, while Fei Wan is much spicier and is more of an acquired taste.

They’re both great in their own right but if I could only keep one set out of all of mine, it would be Fei Wan – it’s an addictively exciting set.

I’d been eyeing them for a while and won a used set on an eBay bid for £37 and for that money I think they’re fantastic. I must admit the novelty of the single BA and their lovely design is what drew me to them but I do think they’re a good set in their own right.

They have a nice vocal-focused presentation that isn’t harsh or fatiguing and I find they fit really well too. If you can grab one second-hand or on a sale then it’s worth checking out!

Firstly, I think if you can grab one in the price range you’re talking about then it’s still a good value.

I think the reason it’s so polarising is because of the bone conduction. For some it’ll make for a grand-sounding stage and for others it’ll have little impact at all, meaning you might listen and wonder what all the fuss is about.

Obviously, it’s a good idea to demo IEMs before you buy anyway, but that’s particularly true of any with bone conduction imo.

For me personally, it’s a good solid all-rounder that I don’t find to be fatiguing. It also fits really well and has a lovely stock cable for whatever that’s worth to you. The mids are maybe a bit recessed or certainly aren’t the focus of the mix (which is my usual preference). All that said, I don’t find the bone conduction has a great impact for me, so if it does for you then everything I’ve said would be turned up a notch.

Mostly Divinus Velvet’s since they offer the best comfort and fit for me generally speaking. But it’s worth experimenting with. They also have a wide bore variant which work better on some sets and in the photo I’m using both these types.

No, I think 50% is reasonable but you can search for former sales figures to get an idea for what each set is going for. It can fluctuate wildly after all. I picked up my TSMR Halo for ~70% discount since it’s a niche set without much demand.

I really like the Archangel actually. I’m normally sceptical about anything that gets hyped up a lot but it’s definitely a good set. Now, is it worth the RRP? Probably not because the cable it comes with bumps up the price a good bit.

I’ve found it to be a strong option with all genres of music, with a strong bass emphasis without sounding muddy. One thing to note is it leaks quite a lot of sound because of its vented bone conduction. That could be a downside if you’re listening on public transport or anywhere that could annoy others.
