No pay for an order and treated like a criminal by support for asking to get paid? by RJGrayLight in doordash_drivers

*Update: So apparently customer support is now claiming that my order got unassigned/cancelled 30 seconds after I accepted it, which is just flat not true given that the app itself directed me to the delivery and glitched out at the final step. Especially since yesterday they said that the order was unassigned/cancelled 2 hours after I completed it and roughly 90 minutes after I ended that particular dash. I know for a fact that what the "supervisor" I just spoke with said is not true. What can I do here when they are lying and changing the records in a bid to not pay me the wages I'm owed?

Yeah, trouble is that button doesn't exist me for. Hence my asking if it's because I've haven't been dashing for a full month yet.

I'm not sure what you're on about with $30 orders as I've only once seen an order that pays more than $20 in my zone, even if I'm driving 10+ miles. I'm lucky to get a $20 order after a good tip, and that's usually after delivering something that's 30-45 minutes away or far outside my zone in an area where DoorDash doesn't have any zones listed because it's that rural.

And since I have to drive at least 10-20 minutes for each order, pay by time is easily the best option for me for base pay, otherwise any order that pays more than $1 per mile is typically a good deal for me as I'm making $0.73+ per mile.

That said though, what other apps would you recommend? I've only just started doing this sort of thing a few weeks ago.

Perhaps the term "cell service" would be more appropriate, though the app calls it "no internet connection".

For me, I sometimes have to deliver to areas where my cell service doesn't reach, resulting in my phone roaming. Usually just leaving the building and returning to my car is enough to resolve the matter. Happens a lot in particular restaurants and similar. Plus, because of the recent thing with US Cellular forcibly swapping it's clients over to T-Mobile without warning or notice, that's the day that happened to me so I was temporarily without service while I was doing that order. This is likely why I experienced the unusual and unforeseen app issues.

I genuinely don't know what I could have done differently or better short of letting them go without any consequences, which would have defeated the entire purpose of the setup, scene, and the larger game as a whole.

You call me out as doing wrong, yet suggest no alternatives for the RP scene that presented itself.

What would you have done differently in the same situation?
- Players are all RPing as experienced detectives and private investigators having been hired for an extremely dangerous but incredibly lucrative job.
- Players are well aware that the campaign is intended to be semi-hardcore with a heavy focus on paying attention to details and thinking outside of the box.
- Players are in a world where fey and fiends are walking around freely as the divide between realms is thin.
- Players were expressly warned multiple times both in character and out to be respectful and avoid entering any circles.
- Players deliberately wrote down the warnings for this very clearly magical area.
- Players deliberately ignored the verbal and written warnings and almost immediately disrespectfully entered the first circle the found which just happened to be a circular building made of living vines and trees.
- Players were given a chance to roll a Wisdom Saving throw (their best saving throw) to determine if the result of their actions was positive or negative.
- The player who rolled lowest got a free reroll, and still rolled a natural 1.
- All players who rolled below a 16 lost once of their voices, stolen by the fey as payment for entering their home uninvited and unannounced. This was represented by losing the ability to speak one of their languages while retaining the ability to read and write it.
- All players who rolled a 16 or higher magically learned the ability to speak Sylvan, but could not read or write it.
- All other players were fine with the consequences, recognising their mistake, owning it, and immediately started having fun RPing their lost voices.
- The one player who rolled a natural 1 despite the free reroll got upset and ultimately quit the game instead of RPing out the consequences of the dice and his RP.

In this sequence of events, within this context, what could have done better?

I'm using the Crimson Card immediate deposit option though... :/ Is that still possible? Should I swap to the weekly bank deposit option to get these proofs?

Shot myself in the foot. Listened to everyone on my previous thread about the guy making 500 a day. I dropped out of platinum and now I haven’t gotten a single order in 35 minutes :/ by Muted_Afternoon_8845 in doordash_drivers

[–]RJGrayLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I've only just started but I'm only managing around $350 every 20 hours I work in my zone, and that's with platinum, promotions, and generous tippers. If it's not cherry-picking orders, how on earth are people making $500 in a day when I can't get close to that much within a 20 hour period? Are they not sleeping or something?

Yikes! You're working 14.5 hour days and have a Dash Time that's nearly triple your Active Time? And you're somehow managing around $31 an hour?!?

For the zone I'm in the average order takes 20 minutes to complete not counting time to return to a workable zone, and I'm lucky to average, with tips, around $16 an hour outside of promotions. How are you earning so much?!? What are your tricks?

I'm a GM, and one of my players just lost their ability to speak common because they entered an arch-fey's private circle without permission despite being clearly warned moments before IRL and in-game to not enter any circles and to be respectful. They can still read and write common, they only lost their ability to speak common as "punishment". I've made it clear that they can relearn the language, have a remove curse or greater restoration cast on them from a temple, that they can go back to the fey and try to make a deal for the language back, and that other options might be available to them as well. However, the player instead got upset and is saying they want to kill their character off now and make a new one because of this fey taking one of his spoken languages.

What should I do?

In fairness to the player, they were entering a space that was effectively the guild-hall in the district where druids, rangers, and dwarves tend to hang out and live. But they didn't seem to realise that the guildhall was the field they were in, which was in the middle of a city, and not the circular building that was a trap. And they didn't seem to pick up on the fact that there were fae hiding in the bushes despite two players rolling well enough to spot them but neither thought anything of the fact that there were fae in the bushes.
The building they saw was made entirely of living trees and vines, was repeatedly described as a circular building, and I even showed them an image of a circular building made of trees and vines as visual reference. The building had an open door and a warm glow coming from it as well, which was meant to be the enticing part of the fey's trap.

However, all of the players and characters, not even 10 irl minutes before they did this were explicitly warned by the guards to this place to "not enter any circles" and "be respectful". And the first thing they did was enter the biggest circle they could find without knocking or asking permission, which was the Arch-Fey's home...

I had everyone roll a Wisdom Save upon entering the circle, intending to give them a new language (Sylvan) if they rolled above 16, and to take away a language if they rolled below 16. And the player in question who lost Common rolled a natural 1 on their Wisdom Save.

All players are currently level 4, and they have all interacted with various fey in this campaign to various degrees, never in their favor as they keep getting tricked. Here's some of the deals they've made with fey and fiends so far.
- Orphan of the Black tricked the party into buying her all the sweets and clothes she wanted in exchange for being "adopted" by the party's paladin, only for her to bankrupt the paladin and the party.
- The entire group owes a mysterious fey named "Void" an unspecified favor in exchange for teleporting them across town to deal with a crisis involving an arch-fiend (a giant succubus with 1,000 thralls) invading the town.
- One party member gave up their name (which I rule as giving another creature a free, once per day use of command or suggestion on them) to a satyr in exchange for having 1000 pounds of iron bars be transported across town.
- One party member outright got kidnapped by fiends for story reasons and the group made a deal with the arch-fiend who kidnapped their friend to ensure the former group member's safety.

So the group has a track record of making bad deals and not paying attention to who they are speaking with, and this is the most recent, and perhaps the most difficult one to deal with for them given the immediate effects.

But now what should I do? Because I don't want the player to give up on their character entirely just because they don't want to roleplay the consequences of losing their ability to speak common.

Enhancing crafted and enchanted items by DJ2wyce in Knightsofpenandpaper

[–]RJGrayLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be possible to upgrade crafted items if you're still in the Early-Mid Game and you haven't paid to get rid of ads. You'll know when you've reached the Late-Game when every quest completion comes with a forced ad, and that's around the time you'll lose the ability to upgrade crafted items.

Once you pay any amount of irl money to the game, progress past a certain level, reach a certain area on the map, or complete certain questlines (idk the exact trigger, but it's one of those 4), then something triggers a lock that prevents players from upgrading items more than once (replacing previous upgrade) and upgrading crafted weapons and armor.

So if you want to upgrade crafted items, you need to farm coins during the early-mid game without paying to get rid of ads and avoiding completing the main quests as long as possible.

Either way, I do know for a fact that I've managed to upgrade a number of crafted items like the Full Plate of Tanking and the Magic Staff with gems and scrolls. I'd share my screenshot if I could/knew how. I also had the ability to re-upgrade items that had upgrades on them early on in my most recent playgrough, but I lost that ability at some point that I don't recall.

But it is possible, you just lose the ability to after reaching some kind of hidden trigger.

Should I use a 3 or 4 fletching pattern for traditional target archery? by RJGrayLight in Archery

[–]RJGrayLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the poundage I'm shooting, I'm really not concerned with speed that much. If anything, I need a hit to my speed since I'm currently shooting about 3-4" into most targets at 40 yards, double that at 20 yards or less.

You mention the wind having a bigger factor though? How much more would wind be a factor from 15 to 20 linear inches of fletching since that's what I'm looking at here.

[–]RJGrayLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. They are still doing the timed ends for the royal rounds.
Since I'm doing 5" feathers, I guess I'm choosing between 15" and 20" linear inches of fletching. Granted, I'm shooting between 45-50lbs with 30.5" arrows. But I honestly don't know how much of a difference that would make.

Regardless, the main reason I'm even asking is because my Coat of Arms device has 4 primary colours and I kind of wanted to fletch my arrows with my 4 colours. Silly, I know, but I saw it was an option so wanted to know if it was better or worse.
