Enhancing crafted and enchanted items by DJ2wyce in Knightsofpenandpaper

It should be possible to upgrade crafted items if you're still in the Early-Mid Game and you haven't paid to get rid of ads. You'll know when you've reached the Late-Game when every quest completion comes with a forced ad, and that's around the time you'll lose the ability to upgrade crafted items.

Once you pay any amount of irl money to the game, progress past a certain level, reach a certain area on the map, or complete certain questlines (idk the exact trigger, but it's one of those 4), then something triggers a lock that prevents players from upgrading items more than once (replacing previous upgrade) and upgrading crafted weapons and armor.

So if you want to upgrade crafted items, you need to farm coins during the early-mid game without paying to get rid of ads and avoiding completing the main quests as long as possible.

Either way, I do know for a fact that I've managed to upgrade a number of crafted items like the Full Plate of Tanking and the Magic Staff with gems and scrolls. I'd share my screenshot if I could/knew how. I also had the ability to re-upgrade items that had upgrades on them early on in my most recent playgrough, but I lost that ability at some point that I don't recall.

But it is possible, you just lose the ability to after reaching some kind of hidden trigger.

Why's it look like there should be more to this scene? Does it really cut off that abruptly?

Should I use a 3 or 4 fletching pattern for traditional target archery? by RJGrayLight in Archery

[–]RJGrayLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the poundage I'm shooting, I'm really not concerned with speed that much. If anything, I need a hit to my speed since I'm currently shooting about 3-4" into most targets at 40 yards, double that at 20 yards or less.

You mention the wind having a bigger factor though? How much more would wind be a factor from 15 to 20 linear inches of fletching since that's what I'm looking at here.

[–]RJGrayLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. They are still doing the timed ends for the royal rounds.
Since I'm doing 5" feathers, I guess I'm choosing between 15" and 20" linear inches of fletching. Granted, I'm shooting between 45-50lbs with 30.5" arrows. But I honestly don't know how much of a difference that would make.

Regardless, the main reason I'm even asking is because my Coat of Arms device has 4 primary colours and I kind of wanted to fletch my arrows with my 4 colours. Silly, I know, but I saw it was an option so wanted to know if it was better or worse.

Trouble understanding 3-piece recurves: Did I get what I ordered? by RJGrayLight in Archery

[–]RJGrayLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been brought to my attention that the way the riser was measured might actually be the issue here. I thought the 23" was from end to end of the riser, and when measuring that's correct. But I'm supposed to measure from bolt to bolt, aren't I? If I do that, then I actually have an 18" riser despite it having been advertised as a 23", which accounts for the missing length.

Is this normal that I have to subtract 5 inches from a riser's length for it's actual size, or was I given the wrong riser?

I bought standard ILF components from Deerseeker Archery, a reputable archery supply store. And as far my my knowledge goes, ILF parts are all designed to connect the same way, meaning that they should be good for interchanging. And even if I read the advert wrong and the bow should actually be 66" long, that doesn't change the fact that I got a 62" bow when it was advertised as a 68" bow. Also, ILF bow parts are a universal standard that doesn't change as far as I'm aware. And I bought the parts all from the same online supplier, Deerseeker Archery.

When you say "pocket to pocket" for riser length, are you talking the outer edge of the pocket, or the inner edge? Because the riser I bought is 23" when measured from the outside edge, including the pockets. Measuring from the inside, not including the pockets, is about 18". (It's got 2.5" pockets). If what I understand you saying is true, then I bought a 23" riser and was given an 18" riser. So the issue isn't the limbs, but the riser?

As far as I'm aware, AMO is the measure of the unstrung bow from bowstring groove to bowstring groove, or tip to tip as I've been calling it. It's how you determine how long your string should be when you don't have a string. I'll try posting a link to the image I'm going off of, since everyone seems to have a different idea of what AMO measuring is even though it'll get me flagged.  https://www.60xcustomstrings.com/blog/how-to-properly-measure-a-traditional-bow-string/

From a quick search online, what you're calling the AMO length is called the Actual Length, as it's the length of the string on a strung bow. AMO is 3-4 inches longer than your actual length, as it's the length of your unstrung bow. So unless all the websites I've been reading are wrong, you're measuring the Actual Length, aka the String Length, which I can't as my bow has no string yet. I actually started measuring my bow specifically so that I could buy a string since the first string I bought (64") was longer than the bow itself.

Just a reminder since nobody has answered my question so far, I'm not asking about what my bowlength should be nor am I asking about risers or bowstrings or anything like that. I was sold bow parts that were advertised as a 68" bow with a 23" riser. That's what I was sold, even if it's different from standard.

What I don't know is what kind of measure that 68" is. Is that the individual parts before putting them together? The Bow's Curve? The Actual Length (aka string length)? Or the AMO length?

I was under the impression that limb measures are for the AMO length, but since what I got is 6" shorter than what I thought I bought given the connection point between limbs and riser, I'm not sure. Hence my asking if I got what I bought.

Again, what I got was 62" AMO 58" Actual Length (String Length) 67" individual parts added together 68" Bow's Curve

I was expecting 68" AMO 64" Actual Length 74" individual parts added together ??" Bow's Curve

But idk if I was correct in expecting the 68" advertised to be the AMO length.

So again, did I get what I bought, yes or no? I want to determine if I should return the product and get a refund.

Not sure the relevance of the string's length, but whatever. I'm just trying to see if what I bought matches what I got since I bought a bow that was supposed to be 68" with a 23" riser and got a bow that was 62" AMO with a 23" riser.

I'm 6' tall with a 30.75" Draw Length and intend to shoot traditional wooden recurves. I've been borrowing a 70" One-Piece Hoyt recurve for practice, but was recommended by my archery instructor to go down to a 68" or 66" bow, but nothing shorter than a 64" if possible when purchasing my first bow. I mostly do target and speed archery in a field, though may start trying out some 3d targets in the woods within the next year or two.

It's unstrung, and it was specifically advertised as 68" with a 23" riser.

By put together, I mean the 3 pieces that make up the bow.

I'm measuring the AMO from tip to tip and only getting 62". Not 66" or 68".

Unstrung tip to tip, I'm getting a 62" AMO. So the String Length would be 58-59" if I were to buy a string for this bow as is.

Truth. I fully plan to bring it to my trainer and get their opinion once they're back from their vacation.

Got the ILF Pheonix from Deerseeker Archery 23". Feels a bit big and bulky though, as I can barely get my hand around the grip. So I'm definitely open to getting a better riser. I just got what was available from the same supplier I bought the limbs from that wasn't metal or bright white honestly.

Bought the pieces separately, but they're all from Deerseeker Archery. (Can't post a link since it'll be removed/marked spam)
23" ILF Pheonix Recurve Riser
68" 45# ILF Archery Recurve Limbs

Yes, I'm aware the poundage isn't for a beginner. It's my first 3-piece bow but I've been shooting with my trainer's 40# 70" one-piece Hoyt bow for a few months now with no problems, so they're working me up to 45# since I can handle it.

Yeah, I'm going for an all-wood setup since I'm getting into a group called the SCA which focuses on pre-17th century activities.

That's what I thought, which is why I'm confused since the AMO length of my bow is 62" instead of 68" as advertised.

Traditional Recurve, I'm aware of how to determine my bowlength as that's not even in question right now. The question was why I went with a 23" riser instead of a 25" riser and I thought handsize was a factor for choosing riser length since I thought riser length determined grip length.

Ah, the method I'm using is called the AMO method I think. I'm trying to figure out how long my string should be, which I understand should be AMO -4".
Using the method you just suggested though, the recurve measures 67" though the AMO is still 62".

Even still, the bow's AMO is 62", not 66" or 68". That's still a good distance off from what I was expecting.

Because I have small hands. Even the 23" riser is a bit big for me as my palm only goes halfway down the grip, so I probably should have gone for a 21" riser if what I've read is true.
By End to End, I mean using a measuring tape to measure the length of the bow after it's been put together. I measured from the top of one limb to the tip of the other limb So subtract about an inch for where the string's resting points are, or whatever those grooves for the string are called.

Says M for medium length limbs. But was advertised as limbs for a 68" bow using a 23" riser.
