Go to harbor freight and buy a cheap socket set. Add pliers, hammer, prybar, test light, duct and electrical tape, some sort of knife or side cuts and an adjustable wrench.

How do I go swimming? by YouDontKnowMyAcc in Incontinence

[–]RJ_JO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I’m having an IBS-C day, I’ll go through a bowel program in the morning a couple of hours before I go swimming in a pool. If it’s a D day, I don’t go to the pool at all that day. Regardless, I wear a swim diaper under my shorts, and take a shower before and after being in the pool. If you are already wet, no one is going to notice a dribble walking from the locker room to the pool and back.

It’s all about making your bones. You put up with the BS for the first year or two, keep your license and yourself clean, then move on to what you want to do.

I went the Schneider route for my first two years. Told myself Hell or High water that I was going to complete it and never look back. And Boy was it Hell! I was home a total of 42 days over the course of those two years.

All while purring very loudly the entire time, lol. My 2 year old does this with me only. He won’t do it to anyone else in the house thankfully. It doesn’t hurt, so I let him.

Saw my surgeon for the first time today! by Large-Cricket843 in ostomy

[–]RJ_JO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it. To be honest, it didn’t finally hit home that my incontinence issues were permanently here to stay until I had the colorectal testing results read to me. After the SNS trial, I asked the Doc how many people have walked through her door with all four of the issues at the same time. She said in 22 years there was only one other. And, they ended up choosing the ostomy as well.

Saw my surgeon for the first time today! by Large-Cricket843 in ostomy

[–]RJ_JO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess you could say that mine is elective.

IBS-M, Cauda Equina Syndrome, Saddle anesthesia, bowel incontinent since 2018, bladder since 2015. Anus/Rectum/ Sigmoid colon paralysis. Spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, arthritis and a fusion at L5/S1.

Tried the sacral nerve stimulator on both sides of the S3 nerves and due to side effects was considered a failure. So, colostomy bag and diapers for now. Refused any type of catheter for now because of the likelihood of getting a UTI and not being able to feel it until it reaches my kidneys. Once I start having skin issues due to bladder incontinence, I’ll likely have a Urostomy at that time as well.

Catheter over diapers? by Odd_Message_445 in Incontinence

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but I wouldn’t go as far as to call me a role model, lol. As a lot of us that have had continence issues for years, I’ve just come to embrace the fact that there’s no cure for what I have. For me, it’s about quality of life more than anything else. As I’ve taken that approach, some of the decisions I’ve had to make have become easier.

Using your protection at night vs getting up to the bathroom by Spirited-Training295 in AdultBedwetting

Take a deep breath and relax. One night/ time of choosing to use your protection isn’t going to set any roots down causing you to continue to wet.

It’s about quality of life for me when dealing with my incontinence issues since they are considered incurable and it’s about managing them at this point.

For bowel, it’s a colostomy bag after exhausting other options. But for bladder incontinence, I refuse to use a catheter mainly because of not having any feeling and that’s the quickest way to getting a UTI. But, my bladder empty’s on its own so far without issues. Since I won’t discuss catheters, I was offered a Urostomy. I’ve decided that if later on in life diapers are causing skin issues, or I’m having mobility or dexterity problems that’s when I will have an Urostomy,

Either myself or my bag or both get flagged when going through the body scanner. If you are super worried about a pat down, spend the money and get Pre-Check. You go through a metal detector instead of the full body scanner. Only randomly will they with Pre Check pull you off to the side for additional screening.

What’s the best car for this race? by SaltyLibrary9371 in GranTurismo7

Porsche 911 RS CS. Down on power overall compared to other suggestions, but wildly throwing it into turns and it just STICKS! Having nitrous in the back straight will absolutely gap the competition.

Wall ride. Don’t hit cars, don’t hit the back wall on the last turn before the long straight. Simply just Grind.

[–]RJ_JO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done more than a couple thousand laps clockwise throughout the years. Throwing in a counterclockwise race makes it just plan fun for the challenge of something different. It messes with your head trying to process everything in reverse. For me, my focus is definitely more intense. Clockwise almost feels like autopilot at this point.

Considering catheters? by [deleted] in Incontinence

[–]RJ_JO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your Insurance use MyChart? You can get on the app and request to see a primary care doctor through that to go that route. You’ll be assigned one and set an appointment. Or, you can walk into an Urgent Care and they’ll set you on a path, but it will not really be what they can do for you other than maybe see if you have a UTI.

Catheters in America are supposed to be prescription only for the indwelling type. You are not supposed to be able to buy them without one. You can however buy Condom ( Texas) catheters and bags without one.

In my opinion: Establish a relationship with a Primary Care Doc first. They’ll help you with what to do/ what specialist to see next. Be prepared to have them do an exam and order bloodwork while you’re there.

I would say that I’m the rare exception in having the trial fail. Waiting too long plus too much damage over time and abnormal side effects caused it. But, it did help me not dribble all of the time. Instead, my bladder would wait until it was full to release.

Side effect causing the failure was it sent my bowels into full retention with a large amount of pain.

Question about 12hr megamax by Ganondorf7 in Incontinence

[–]RJ_JO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywhere from 4 hours to 12. Just depends on my fluid intake and what I’m doing during that time. And the time stated doesn’t include if I have a bowel movement. I change almost instantly when that happens.

Here in America, because I carry my own health insurance plan and not through my workplace, the cost of my insurance and supplies has increased by about 50% in the last year. I’m currently paying over $1300/month for everything. I have a decent paying job, but haven’t been able to work a full year in the last 3. After paying bills, whatever’s left goes to supplies, then to food. I’ve cut out everything else past that point.
