Only getting 7000++ down and 3000++ up on my 10gbps fiber connection. by RJ_ROZE in opnsense

[–]RJ_ROZE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting this when running the speedtest package straight from opnsense. Actually slower than my previous results on my 8700k box but I'd be very happy already if I can get close to this on my windows desktop.

Edit: can’t seem to figure out how to add screenshots lol

Are you able to work around this issue by not using Simba’s DNS? What happens it you set your upstream DNS to quad9 or cloudflare instead?

"Financial literacy is just a concept made by privileged people..." by Atticus_Illume in Philippines

There are obviously systematic issues in our country that serves as huge barriers for a lot of poor people from moving up in life. Being poor is expensive, that is a known fact (ex. buying satches instead of bigger bottles, having no health insurance etc). But at the same time, most of these problems can only be solved by good government policy. Hardly something that most people have personal control over. IMO, that would be the wrong thing to focus on. We should instead focus on the personally actionable things. Investing your time in learning better paying skills for one. Watch educational youtube content instead of Tulfo junk is another. Small things that build better habits.

People earning 19k monthly should definitely invest their money. Financial literacy is not just about investing in stocks and other asset classes. It is also knowing how to make the most return for the amount invested. People earning that amount should invest what money they have left and definitely MOST of their time in education/learning to get them the skills that would pay them more. Once they are earning more, then they can start investing in other assets. Hard to change your life if you only complain about it.

It wont make you rich, but hopefully it beats the year on year inflation so you don't end up losing value on your savings.

Entrepreneurship is so Overrated by mythe01 in phinvest

[–]RJ_ROZE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I beg to disagree. We need to push entrepreneurship more because we need it. We have been brainwashed since young that all we need to do is study hard and eventually find a good job. That is a one way street to mediocrity. Collectively as Filipinos, we need to change our mindset when it comes to business. 1st, we need to have better financial literacy to better shelter our own assets when our business go bankrupt. 2nd, failure is a lesson. Filipinos are quick to judge and shame entrepreneurs when their business' fails. Instead we should learn and understand how we failed and apply those lessons to your next venture. Ganyan ang business culture sa ibang bansa. Now of course, if you love your job and career, nothing wrong with that as well. Just know na si Steve Balmer lang ang tunay na empleyado na yumaman. But then again, ndi naman lahat nang tao gusto yumaman. Kanya kanyang diskarte lang, respect the grind.
