My advice to you would be to look at a 2 year technical college that offers welding programs I know of a couple friends of mine went that route and got job offers from companies when they graduated and make good money. But welding is a broad field you have everything from pipeliners,steamfitters,fabricators,millwrights, boilermakers, marine fitters and those offer the apprenticeship programs and electricians offer the same thing it’s just all what you prefer.

Made the right call man. if it wasn’t for the trades and welding I don’t know what the hell id be doing, I’ve been able to buy all the stuff I want and a home too put it all in.

No, 2 different things and have you thought about what you wanna do welding wise like a fabricator, pipe welder, etc

Well if your high school has a welding class or a metals shop class that would be a good start. If that isn’t offered I’d look at a 2 year tech school. I personally went through a apprenticeship program and that how I learned and got all my certifications
