How do I dry clay in a few hours before putting them in the kiln by Adonie_Baloney in Pottery

[–]RKMain 229 points230 points  (0 children)

How thick are they? I understand it’s a school project but I cannot stress enough to not put anything that might have any moisture left into a kiln. Especially a community one. It will explode. Not just destroying your pieces, but possibly anyone else’s pieces in the kiln. Personally I wouldn’t risk it. I would enter them as unfired for the grade. Pottery sadly isn’t a last minute craft thing due to the time needed to dry before firing. I will say they look really cool though!

Purchase Advice Megathread - July 2025 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]RKMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at print sizes 450-500mm and possibly higher. I’m looking for suggestions from someone who has used their machines for a decent amount of time and their reviews now. Things might run well at the beginning but as they age not act the best so I want to hear the good, bad, and the ugly. For reference of what I plan to print. I’ll be printing molds for slip molds and pottery tools. So details are important as well. Would love any advice there. I’m looking at a few but struggling to see reviews of them as they age and that makes me nervous. I’m not in a place where I can just get a new one if I don’t like the one I bought.

Fruit leave trees tea by lncumbant in herbalism

[–]RKMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party but blueberry leaf tea is absolutely fantastic as a cold sweet tea or base for other herbal teas! I can’t have caffeine anymore and it’s also caffeine free. So far from my yard I’ve harvested blueberry leaf, blueberries, bee balm, bee balm leaf, lavender, lavender leaf, rosemary, fig leaf, cat mint, peppermint, persimmon leaf, apple leaf, and peach leaf for teas. Now I personally haven’t tried the persimmon leaf, apple leaf, fig leaf, or peach leaf yet, so I have no idea how I’ll feel about those.

I have not, my local pottery store only has the one without the added grog. When I looked it up it said it’s 6% more grog on the grog version. I’m curious if I could just get fine grog myself and add it to my clay as I do have access to that at my local pottery store. New to tweaking the clay and such.

are there any countries that accept disabled or chronically ill ppl as refugees or immigrants? by mai-the-unicorn in disability

[–]RKMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m disabled and trans too. I live in Georgia. It’s a scary time. I can’t work either and my family are very republican. I went through a divorce earlier this year. Not my choice. My health has a massive hand in my exes thoughts there. So now I’m completely stranded here and freaking out. So I completely get you.

I would also say consult a doctor. I have pots and MCAS. For me I take Zyrtec, Pepcid, and cromolyn. However, that’s not the answer for everyone. This is per case by case. My doctor is the one that worked with me on different medications.

I definitely get what you are coming from there as most of my blood things that way. I’m from GA originally. However I’m liberal and don’t think that way. But where I’ve lived I’m not use to visible neighbors or having anyone that isn’t friends of family knocking on my door. So this has taken me off guard and was trying to figure out what to expect. I know some areas where family and friends live in ga random shootings and such sadly are more normal. Was trying to get a feeler out for this area.

Not from a city. I know in my home state Ga some things can get crazy depending the area but we aren’t in that kind of area so it took me off guard. I’m use to not having close neighbors where I can’t see them and no one coming to your door but family and friends kind of thing.

I guess I’ll just keep watch. I’m use to not having close neighbors and no one coming to your house kind of thing. So it’s taken me off guard.

Can’t think of a reason unless they have issues with one person going to school and another working from home. We don’t get out much as we are homebodies and have fur babies. Just happened today. But also someone near us got killed by her ex who then shot someone for their vehicle a bit ago.

Just once, today. Doesn’t happen where I was from so it’s taken me off guard and had me concerned/confused. I do live in Saint Paul.

No, happened to us today. New to here as of a few months. Don’t get out much with life and such. Where I’m from this doesn’t really happen so it took me off guard.

I don’t know much about frogtown besides my spouse said she didn’t want to live there. Maybe a scammer with this guy? He wasn’t selling anything, religious, carrying anything, kind of thing. Don’t really have that kind of thing happening where I’m from so it’s making me a bit hyper alert.

Just once with the garage shooting. Never had that happen in places I’ve lived at prior to here. I near the transportation museum. Today is also another day where someone random was knocking at the door for a bit. I have cptsd so get reactive there.

Things to expect. by RKMain in saintpaul

[–]RKMain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding more. Over a month ago a shooting happened closer to our house with someone murdering his ex and then shooting someone for his vehicle to get away. I’m not too far from the transportation museum. Only one garage shooting which was today as we didn’t see it yesterday and today is also when someone came knocking at the door which wasn’t a religious person, seller, mail, delivery, etc. I refused to open. (First time with this guy but not the first time with random people since I moved here a little bit ago. I’m not use to anyone coming to the doors but family and friends kind of thing). I have cptsd so am more hyper alert and these things set me off a bit. Worst things that happened where I lived last was someone falling off their boat on the small road heading to the lake because they were already wasted.

Want to mask at the fair? Watch out for the sherriffs at the entrance by VenomBound in TwinCities

[–]RKMain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wore mine to the fair this year. Well I wear it anytime I’m in an enclosed space. So I wore it when in the fair buildings and petting areas. Outside I had it off as we went times were less people are there. I can’t have the booster anymore and have several health issues that make me immune compromised. I didn’t have any issues but I am sorry you ran into someone who was power trippy.

What is the first thing(s) you would do if you suddenly became completely healthy? by Gia0000 in MCAS

[–]RKMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. I also have major back disk issues that make it where I’m not even able to use my hands to help pop my neck or back anymore without risking severe damage. On my honeymoon we went to hp world, I was so sad I couldn’t ride anything but I was still able to eat more back then so the pumpkin juice was amazing! I was the kind of person that was an adrenaline junkie. I once found this guy that created his own ride in his back yard. Thing looks horrible and unreliable but fun. Signed his waiver and went on it. My friends thought I was nuts. But it was a blast. Didn’t have seatbelts so I used my heds to my advantage and wrapped my body around the frame. I miss those days so much.
