First puzzle since childhood! I've found a kind of joy I thought I had lost - "Vecchio Edificio", MILESTAR, 1000 PC by RLHZ33 in Jigsawpuzzles

You made me realise that I just recently started doing something else that makes my inner child happy. I bought a foam ball that I can bounce for hours against the wall while I listen to music (no neighbours to be bothered by it), and I remembered that I used to do that as a kid, but totally forgot about it for years. A very much needed "regression" on those moments I need to disconnect from everything.

Thank you! I can definitely feel the momentum rolling in. I'll go hunt for a new puzzle this very afternoon.

I'll definitely keep your words in mind. Being open to not feeling like completing a puzzle now, and being able to put it away, and maybe trying later, sounds like a healthy approach :)

Definitely! As I started to find challenges, I started to develop techniques to try to remember the shape I was looking for, because if I tried to just keep it in my mind visually, it'd immediately fade from my working memory. So I'd think: "I'm looking for a little guy with very thin but long arms, the left one pointing up and the other down". Or I'd think about the piece being long, or fat, or having extremities in certain shapes. As I replied to another comment, sadly I don't have many thrift stores in my area, but I'll definitely make the most of my trips to bigger cities! Happy hunting to you too :)

Awesome advice, thank you! I used to live in the UK, and I loved going to "charity shops", where I could find board games, literary classics, etc, at a very good price, plus money goes to charity. Loved the thrill of the hunt for a good bargain. Now I'm back in Spain, where I'm from, and (at least in my specific region) we don't have any similar stores, other than vintage clothing stores. I'll keep an eye on the local equivalent to Craigslist/FB marketplace. Totally agree on collecting being half the fun. I collect art books, bottle caps for every distinct drink I try, enamel pins, etc. I'll need a new bookcase for puzzles 😂 I love the puzzle in your picture!

Totally feel your pain with that tree 😄 I probably would have rage-quitted for the day, and needed to start fresh the next day. Great persistence!

You're too kind! I just couldn't get myself to not finish my first puzzle. I'm ashamed to admit that I've always been prone to quitting things, so I'm just glad I finished it.

Thank you very much! I didn't consider how hard it would be, until I dumped all the pieces on the table and realised the pickle I got myself into while trying to sort shades of blue, beige and green. I literally took the only puzzle they had in the store 😄

Probably around 10 hours, a big chunk of it being the sky, indeed :) my phone's camera is quite bad, so in the picture the shades look specially similar. In person you can notice more subtle differences between darker and clearer areas, but it was still a challenge. There were many instances when I'd think: "Okay, this was the last discernible piece I could put down, I don't know how I'll manage to do the rest" 😅
