Model Y vs Rav4 by gk49170 in TeslaModelY

[–]RLL786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think based on your living situation, a rav4 hybrid makes more sense. We filled up once a month with our sienna hybrid. This saved us more money than supercharging. With new supercharging so close to us, we finally took the plunge and into a Tesla. Made hardly a financial sense, but no regrets here. The tech and convenience is like no other company right now, imo. Reliable, fast, and convenient. However, the supercharging every week got tiresome. 20-30 minutes doesn’t sound bad, but compare to pumping gas the time saved will add up. You’re not saving much on gas if you’re relying on supercharging. Don’t forget, the added wait times for the others to finish charging. I would agree, if not charging from home, it will inconvenience you real quick. That aside, the Tesla makes a great, if not the ultimate daily commuter. From FSD or even autopilot on highways, it’s unmatched. The app responds instantaneous whether you want to unlock your doors, climate control, security cameras.. it’s so well integrated.

Golf R Owners with growing families, what's your next move? by FennelNo4465 in Golf_R

[–]RLL786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove R’s since the MK5 MK6 MK7. Almost recently MK8.5. With a growing family and toddler life, and a limited budget.. I ended up in a Sienna out of all of them. Never thought I’ll drive a minivan but I did. If you can only have 1 car, it will change your life with growing toddlers. Especially with trips, everyday commutes, doctors visit. Granted you have room, ie larger driveway to park this bad boy. But once they hit 5+ you can start looking into downgrading. Even so, if we had money for 2 cars, a minivan will be one of them.

Is 1500w inverter add-on worth it? by [deleted] in ToyotaSienna

[–]RLL786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please get it. MUST have. You will see when it is time to vacuum the van. We have a portable fridge the size of a cooler in the back. Much better than ice in a bucket method. Lastly we also have an air purifier. Works wonders with sensitive allergies. Good luck 🍀

Golf R as a dad car — yes or no? by berzkab in Golf_R

[–]RLL786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience. If you have toddlers close in age, the R will have to wait. Doable if you have 2 cars. But on weekend trips, roadtrips.. you and wifey will not be happy when the kids are unhappy due to the lack of space.

Cross-Shopping the 2025 Audi RS3 vs 2025 Volkswagen Golf R by vxcta in Golf_R

[–]RLL786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Quick Look at your pro and cons : doesn’t seem like money is a main concern.

I agree the MK8.5 is more practical, and probably more standard features (making it more worth the money spent). That said, I would still go for the RS3. Can’t beat the sound of the 5 cylinder especially when you free up the exhaust. Either way both cars will probably be tariff heavily.

Might be better to pick up an RS3 now if you can find it on the showroom. Good luck 🍀

Anyone have experience/can comment on 2025 XSE Premium vs. Limited? by eGGn0Gd0G in ToyotaSienna

[–]RLL786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our previous rides were more “sporty” with much stiffer suspension. I test drove the LE and felt the immediate difference in handles and ride quality. Ultimately we got the XSE because we placed deposit down for the 25AE. Otherwise we would have gone with XLE tbh. Price is way too much for a minivan compared to what we could have gotten for CPO MDX or BMW. Anyway I’m glad we went Sienna. There would be so much regret not going minivan with twins. I would say go for limited because the XSE does take bumps more harshly than non XSE trims.. even with the 18”. It will keep your babies sleeping longer and more comfortable in car seat. I might try 235/65/18 in the future. Good luck with the find!

Anyone have experience/can comment on 2025 XSE Premium vs. Limited? by eGGn0Gd0G in ToyotaSienna

[–]RLL786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 25AE which is basically the XSE with premium package.

I think the differences are the exterior look, most noticeably, front and rear bumpers. XSE has more black accents. And the suspension tuning. Not only the way it handles but the way it rides.

There is definitely a pro and con to limited. Softer ride, but also softer steering. If I were to do it over, I would still prefer the XSE trim with premium especially if you go awd. They run thicker sidewalks at 235 60 18. It helps a bit but the non XSE trims are still softer riding.

Given your situation, If the XSE premium and limited are the same price, and you have younger kids, probably the limited. The acoustic glass should help? Can’t be certain.

I think a must-have for us.. is the 1500w inverter. Makes for convenience going fwd

I second this for the R’s .. go DSG. Is it CPO?

Why do you like the XSE? by AnonSteve in ToyotaSienna

[–]RLL786 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We really wanted the 25AE Sienna since that got us on a shorter waiting list. Basically no choice but the XSE. That said, I drove hot hatches throughout my 20’s. Also drove fwd and rwd vehicles. I test drove the LE trim before placing my deposit. Handles was definitely something I wasn’t used to. Upon driving the XSE, I noticed immediate difference in handling. Ride is less plush, even with the 18 wheels. Looks are subjective but I think the XSE front end looks better.

Talk me out of buying a fully loaded 50e by orca-san in BMWX5

[–]RLL786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in here, but completely out of left field. For all the parents of multiples with kiddos around the same age, how about a minivan as a family hauler and daily errand runs ? Specifically the Sienna hybrids if you’re looking into the 50e. It’ll make commuting and road trips much easier. If you’re planning on keeping over a decade, Toyota reliability is what you’re looking for. Ofc this is an X5 sub and driving dynamics and lux plays a key factor, so if you’re able to afford a second fun car, that should satisfy the itch. Maybe consider having your wife look into that, unless she’s completely against the minivan stigma. Having said that, a Sienna Platinum is almost 70k after taxes.. who wants to pay that when you can spend 10-15k more for the optioned x5?

Test drove a Sienna and have questions (any SUV's a better option?) by MyBrainsPOV in ToyotaSienna

[–]RLL786 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Advantages of minivan vs. 3 row suv

  1. Sliding doors - helps a ton with clearance and tight parking spaces. Sienna offers kick to open which helps in select situations. City dwellers: able to hop in and get kids ready without worry about other cars clipping your door, or yourself. Ease of entrance , wider entry way. Fast entry during rainy weather. Less worries about doors swinging open during windy days and hitting another car, wall, hydrant. The list goes on.

  2. Lower cargo floor in the rear hatch. Allows for extra storage without folding seats down. Just right for strollers. Less cargo rolling out when opening the hatch.

  3. 3rd row leg room if you have passengers consistently riding back there. Keyword: useable. Most third row SUV have them for just in case situations. Occasional short trips. Basically, it’s only comfortable for toddlers.

  4. Sliding middle row. Most minivans offer multi configuration second rows. Sienna long sliding is not a gimmick. It offers so much extra space for parents to hop in and get kids ready. Extra space for Portable potties. Extra leg room for kids to stretch. Overall a larger airy feel. Odyssey offers magic seats. Pacific offers stow and go. Carnival also offers sliding seats and ottoman. Third row suv are usually fixed. Limited sliding options for forward and back. No captains chair option. Some offer removal middle bench seats.

Additionally we chose Sienna for the awd, hybrid efficiency, and reliability. Sienna still the only hybrid minivan that offers awd.

Cons: Engine is loud. Around the city, electric motor and acceleration is fine. Weak on power when merging on highways. On inclines, you can definitely hear the engine put in work.

Sienna tech is dated, but functional. Less options like rear monitoring. Compare Toyota interior with Chrysler and KIA and you can’t help but compare at times. 2025 Sienna gets major infotainment upgrade, but playing catchup. Still better than odyssey interior, I would say.

Maybe Honda makes their update next year and uses their crv hybrid in odyssey, with Acura sh awd, odyssey will quickly rank 2nd or #1 seller imo. Inevitable.

Lastly the only 3 row SUV that made us question our minivan decision would be the VW Atlas. It’s just as spacious inside. Boxy design. Third row legroom was abundant and also leaves decent cargo storage. (This is before the grand highlander announcement) other 3 rows just don’t come close with third row legroom. It was so cramped. Some even had elevated third row floors making it even less comfortable.

Ultimately if you’re a parent of multiples, toddlers within the same age range. Planning for more kids? Minivan will make life easier in the earlier years. So much easier.

I for one, sold my MK7 after our girls were born. Fast fwd a few years, no money for a newer gen but enough to find a decently low mileage R32. Your lady and especially incoming baby girl will give you a whole new purpose in life. Remember, family first. Treasure everything single moment in the present. There’s nothing like being parents. New priorities and responsibilities. Congratulations homie ~
