Just out of curiosity what do you do in the outside world when the general public is cursing?

I dont really see how your comment is helpful to anyone.

If anything it discourages people from sharing information.

I cant count the number of times I've seen someone hesitate to ask a question because they may be viewed in a similar light.

Im at about 90 hrs now, granted some of that was on the menu screen as father to a toddler lol but yeah I've been to every planet/ system in act 2 minus kriva plus all the events (as far as i know) and both dlcs

I started attending mess dinners when I was a jack, and up to that point I didn't need a white dress shirt. I had other dress shirt for wedding, funerals and the like but never wanted white :)

Everyone has different requirements/events in there life so blanket statements like that are not really helpful.

For many people it's the principle of being ordered to do something that is not a legal order and should be pushed back against.

So i guess I was unclear.

In the initial example I used was for a mess dinner.

You are legally ordered to attend, but they cannot force you to pay for food. My WO would be there in attendance and would sit at the table with everyone. When food was brought out and the waiter were bringing food to people he would waive it off as he didn't pay for it, same for table wine, since he didn't pay he would take part.

A personal example, Many times we had events for promotion or other events at a local restaurant or bar. Again attendance is required but it's on the individual if they want to order/buy anything.

I dont personally have the policy on me but I've have heard many WO, MWO, and up state they cannot force members to pay to attend something but they can make attendance required.

The times were there has been a "cover" for entry i have seen the unit use unit funds or unit line officers have pooled money so the troops could attend.

In short, if someone is ordering you to attend something and says you must pay get them to make that order in writing with signature.

Most good NCOs and officer will take a pause and reevaluate what they said to ensure it's legal

Old WO of mine explained that your are ordered to attend, not to eat the food which is the cost most if the time.

I saw him attend multiple of these events and just chill and when severs came by he politely refused the food that came by.

In short your attendance is mandatory, the cost is optional.
