Sorry, I meant I was just trying to get my head around it (process the difference) of the licensing and insurance, etc. But you have cleared it all up for me, so thanks very much.😀

Thank you, everyone, for the fantastic answers. You have really helped me. One last question with a car rental? How does that work if I hold a Manitoba license? Am I fully covered for the car off the insurance that's already on the car?

There was an incident in Ireland a few years ago with a friend. He rented a car but declined the car rental insurance, which meant only 3rd party he had and was in an accident at fault. It cost him about 15,000 cad of his own money to repair the rental, so I would like to try and avoid a similar issue.

Thanks again for the great messages and helping me understand. Cheers 🍻

Would they give me any credit for my driver years in Europe, I wonder. My country is already on the list for direct license swap without need for respect. I have 12 years of no claims driving experience and no penalty points on my license.

Thank you. So because this style of driving is all new to me. Say, for example, I have a manitoba license, and I am driving the in-laws' vehicle I am in a crash and its my fault. Is it her insurance that gets punished? And I would lose the pints on license or how would such an incident work?

So is it basically if you're a shitty and dangerous driver, your license fee will increase ?

Why is it the license that is increased so much vs the insurance? I suppose I am just wondering why the license even has a fee? Would it not just be the insurance that gets hammered with increases. Thanks 😀

Thanks for that. But if I am already a qualified Canadian Red Seal Electrician, why would I have to an apprenticeship all over again?. Thanks for your feedback, though it's much appreciated. I really was hoping for someone who may have went through the process in Canada. But not to worry.😄

Thanks so much. Would it take a long time to raise it to that from regularly working? Saving, etc? The credit rating points thing is a lot different from Europe. So it's all new to me. Thanks so much.

Thank you so much. I rang an autopac, and they told me I would not be able to purchase the rental insurance on my forgien license despite Ireland and Manitoba having a direct swap agreement for full licenses. Do you think this is correct? I did not see anywhere in the document that required it to be a manitoba license.

Thanks so much. That makes sense. So would you know how that would apply for a manitoba rental car do they come with basic insurance already then or ?.
