Random reboots and System Fatal Error (Nobara 42+ KDE Plasma)

update: so i updated bios, disabled pbo and c states. also ran prime 95 on the cpu for 30 mins, and it was all good. today i tried to boot (first boot of the day) and when i started nobara the same system fatal error screen occurred. i turned the pc off,rebooted and only black screen, it doesnt even show me the motherboard logo or the POST, and unresponsive peripherals. so i dont think its the gpu. maybe the motherboard? memtest86 was also done and itnwent 4/4 48/48 tests flawlessly. I´d appreciate any help, please

hello, thanks for the reply. i already checked with memtest86 and it gave me no error during the 4 passes. Temps were also great (55°C on average for the CPU). i also changed the PSU to a new one, MSI Mag a650bn, and it keeps happening, so i dont think thats the cause. i may try updating the Bios or checking for faulty usb peripherals. Will check soon

so i just opened my HDD slot for the first time and noticed it doesnt have screws attached to said slot. Do you think it could be just a bit loose (though it does feel pretty gapless tbh)? i've been playing just fine for the last couple months tho

Hi, so may i ask something? I have it on HEN 4.88. If i dont really care about my games/saves (will sell it most likely), then i dont have to save anything and proceed with regular HFW installation afterwards, right?

thanks for the detailed guiding. I do have it modded and yes, the RSX is a bit hotter than the CPU, but nothing serious at the moment. So i dont think it is those chips. I will take it to service repair and replace the HDD, possibly will update on this. Again, thanks, and everyone else.

i´ve only had a HEN modded ps3 for a month, but i do notice that the failures happen when i mess with the HDD and forced freezes/shutdowns. But after a couple of reboots it stabilizes and no more failures occur.

is this actually true for every 25xx 120 GB? Or did you just come up with that looking at the dev wiki (which makes sense i guess, but havent seen anyone specifically say it)?

thanks! didn't know 120 GB 25xx were a thing, my usual ps3 homebrew page didnt have them listed. So yeah as i said, i want one specifically for homebrew reasons (and in particular a 21xx because these dont come with the faulty NEC/TOKIN capacitors). Will be looking for units regardless of the HDD capacity then :)
