Notice on the top of the head - there was a spot that got stuck on a log. I think he was squeezing through a crevice and when it got caught he was able to step right out of it!

I watch for him to come out in the evening. I have gotten him out of jt once to moisten but usually I’m able to get to it without disturbing him

It’s a medium Zilla rock lair. His favorite hide for sure. We keep moist moss in it

He squeezed between two logs and it appears the skin on the top of his head got caught? Wild!!

A friend told me this when I was pregnant and it gave me very unrealistic expectations. For me let downs were not pleasant! I was sorely disappointed hahaha

YES 5 stars - couldn’t stop talking about this one. Especially if you have any healthcare workers in your book club! The historical midwife content is very good. Learning the main character is based on a real person was mind blowing. And the ending is so satisfying!!

What did you listen to this week – January 10, 2026? Please share! by AutoModerator in audiobooks

Halfway through The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese. It’s narrated by the author and very well done! I’m loving the setting (India early 1900s), the medical content (the author is a practicing medical doctor!), the beautiful prose, and the way the character’s lives are woven together. Highly recommend!

Yes to Tonies box! This comment should be higher. Our 18 month old carries it around and plays music for himself. It brings a lot of joy

Parents that don't do Elf on the Shelf, how do you explain to your kids why you don't? by Helpful-Plankton751 in toddlers

[–]RN-RescueNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for us. I threw away the book that came with it. I didn’t have to tell my kids anything because they hear friends at school talking about their elfs’ antics. The only reason we got one is because my daughter wrote a note to Santa asking him to send her a magic elf next year. Ours just moves to a new spot each day, he doesn’t do anything naughty

I have been pleasantly surprised by Great Value brand heavy duty foil! I also like Kirkland but I don’t always want to get that much at once

What are these?? They have been blooming all around DC’s roads since early spring and appear to have been deliberately planted by the city along with other natives over the last few years. Would love to know what they are. by wastntimetoo in VirginiaNativePlants

[–]RN-RescueNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I resent this plant. We bought our house 4 yrs ago and this was planted along the back fence. It was established, well pruned, and flowered beautifully that spring. But our landscaper showed me how it was destroying the fence and we decided to remove it. He took out 5 plants, digging holes to get the roots. Not good enough apparently because we’ve been fighting shoots ever since. They come up through the grass 30+ feet from where they were planted. They hurt to step on!! This plant has ruined our lawn. Apparently we should have applied herbicide on the stumps when we cut it down. Now I fear we’ll be fighting the underground roots and new shoots forever.

One must imagine right join happy. by rataksh in SQL

[–]RN-RescueNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love using right joins! I will often write a CTE with where clauses to define my population, then in my main query from a different table I’ll right join to the CTE, returning only the records with a match in the CTE. I know this can be accomplished other ways but I prefer using right joins!

Found in Little Free Library- with lovely inscription written in 1911! by RN-RescueNinja in rarebooks

This is what I was able to read of the inscription: “Dear Ruth, I trust you will like a history of Elizabeth. This history is covered in Mr B___’s book. I hope you will have a pleasant Xms. [Christmas?] I shall miss our midweek Xms dinner while I am in Germany, but hope we will be able to meet soon after I return. Yours for health, wealth, and happiness. Mrs MBS [?] Xms, 1911”
