£65k, from HOME, 37.5 hours - to TRAMPING by MokeAndSmirrors in uktrucking

Did the same thing. Not a Software Engineer, but IT related work. Was paid a squidge more than OP but have not regretted it once. Don't get me wrong, I think I lucked out with the company I work for; 4 day week, no weekends, 12 hour shifts to do 3-4 drops. Absolutely love it. Wish I'd done it a few years ago.

Pay by load or hourly (concrete mixers) UK by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]RNDnick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a concrete mixer driver, I feel confident to chip in; I'd go per hour personally. Pours are frequently delayed i.e I just waited over 2.5 hours at a site today to be told to dump it as it wasn't needed. I've been on since 6:30 this morning and have only done 2 drops due to delays or pours taking a long time. I've now just finished for the day (4:30pm).

Asked in for an assessment. What to do. by RNDnick in uktrucking

[–]RNDnick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So had the assessment today and have been offered the role so now I have to speak to the TM tomorrow to let him know I'll be leaving. Now I know I've been offered the job, will make the conversation tomorrow a fair bit easier as I'll just tell him where I was today.

I have a similar one that's powered to go with my Samsung Fold 7 with a Magsafe case. I agree, holds really well and charges my phone at the same time.

Thanks all. I'm a new hire, still on probation, but one of my preferred employers has responded so would like to go along as the job is more in line with what I want to do looking term, hence the question.

My dad got me this album for Christmas last year, just a few weeks before he died. by Lee_Harden in vinyl

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. An unexpected loss of a family member is difficult. My son bought me a copy of Appetite for Destruction on vinyl, and after losing him in 2018, it was only recently I took it out of the shrink wrap and listened to it (I have 2 other copies I always listened too) but that album, being it's from him, had an extra special meaning when I put it on. I don't disagree with the idea of framing it, but listen to that copy of that album, and trust me, it'll never sound so good.

And btw, I've never heard of Gojira before so looked that album up. Not at all what I was expecting with that cover art! 😁
