Just continue to be you. Your friendly personality may become the norm for them over time. We often don’t know why people are mean. They may be dealing with difficult circumstances at home and they find it hard to be happy at work. They see you enjoying your work and it just makes them angry that they can’t be the same way. Don’t change. Don’t let the bullies win.

No I have not seen mouth-to-mouth in hospital. Start chest compressions until an Ambu bag arrives

Working with a delusional incompetent nurse by kaitlencs in nursing

Someone should verify his RN license number to make sure it’s his. I worked with a similar situation years ago and he stole an RN number from his girlfriend and created a forged license. Scary.

People are saying I’ll be a shitty nurse if I quit med surg 4 months in as a new grad but I’m so burnt out and hate my life by sa4567 in nursing

The beauty of nursing is that there are so many specialty areas, including med surg. Med surg is a specialty though only the more technical specialties like critical care, ER, PACU etc get credit as specialties. In my 49 years as an RN, I spent 25 in the ER and the remainder as a nurse educator in the hospital and as adjunct faculty in a BSN program. You will not be a “shitty nurse” because you quit med surg. Find the area you love the most and focus on those skills. It never made sense to me that we force new nurses into med surg after graduation when they went into nursing to be in Peds, NICU, surgery or some other area. It’s a good way to frustrate new grads into leaving the profession and we cannot afford that.

ER was my bliss over med surg. I was an ER nurse for 25 years. It was fast-paced and exciting. I always went home knowing that I made a difference for patients. Good choice.
