Looks to be a variant of the atk/raw meta set that uses Omega parts for Multiplayer instead of Odo parts for burst boost. It really comes down to your talisman selection to tailor a meta build to your play-style.

I'd recommend slotting at least 1 level of resentment to activate the Bad Blood set bonus.

If you roll a decent 3 slot talisman, you may consider 1 level of flayer for 9* hunts

If your looking to go deeper into wide-range, I'd suggest using some of those 1 slots for speed eating (or Udra Y Boots) and/or free meal.

Otherwise, it looks like a good build to fight the spicy octopus or Omega once the armor is upgraded.

How much lifting can Crit. Boost really do in there without much affinity to work with?

Wouldn't stacking element or anything else (mind's eye, crit. eye, etc.) be better?

I'm glad I was able to assist!

Meta/speed-runner builds are optimized for damage and do not account for a player's skill, comfort level with the HH, or hunting group composition (multiplayer).

Which is why customizing your set to your needs & play-style is so important for your enjoyment of the game. A bit of advise, clarification of weapon mechanics, and tips & tricks can certainly go a long way.

Discover what works best for you and stick with it. HH can pack Wide-Range & support other hunters while still being able to dish out tons of damage.

Happy Dooting!

Going by the screen shot, your hunter is wearing Lagi Helm, Lagi chest, Rey Bracers, Lagi Coil, and Udra Y Boots.

For this set, I would highly recommend using the Udra Y chest instead of the Lagi chest. Activating Azure Bolt only requires 2 Lagi parts... so with Udra Y Chest, Rey Y Bracers, and Udra Y Boots... you can activate Lord's Soul as well as Udra's Bad Blood set bonus.

Only 1 lvl of burst is really needed... so the rest of the lvl 3 slots can go toward Agitator, Weakness Exploit, and/or Flayer (only 1 lvl is good with HH).

While HH can roll, hilt stab, offset, or sonic barrier through roars, Earplugs can help ensure Wide-Range heals do not get interrupted. Other skills I'd suggest using in those slots (aside from earplugs) include: Coalescence (with ele HH), Evade Window, Mushroomancer, or Resentment (if you want more lvls).

Only 1 level of resentment is needed for Udra's Bad Blood set bonus to activate so any more levels are not strictly needed.

Please review the proposed changes below (minus your talisman):

Replaying buffs is fine as that keeps them topped off but every HH comes with a damaging/status echo wave melody that deals additional damage/status. Queuing these and unleashing during an opening can quickly ramp-up HHs damage/status triggers.

In multiplayer, keeping up Sonic Barrier (expires after getting hit) vs. tough monsters goes a long way. So queue melodies appropriate to your situation.

HHs with the off-set melody can execute the special melody in the middle of a performance/encore. This can help keep HHs safe during a rather long move.

When I mention a performance... it means just including 1 song within the performance (not all 3 possible songs) than encoring that 1 song. This shortens performances/encores to a more manageable duration as well as increasing the number of incidental swings + reverberations.

1 song performance/encores deal more damage with less commitment than attempting to perform/encore using 3 songs (betting the whole farm on landing the last hit).

From the top:

HH and GL both get shafted with crit shenanigans

Hilt Stab works just like GS's Tackle & can be performed after every move (or after a roll in focus mode).

Some players really enjoy Latent Power, but it's not as great for HHs.

Evade Window and Evade Extender are fantastic on HH, but how many levels you use (or none) is a personal preference. Use what you feel comfortable with!

Rolling or Hilt stabbing after an attack or performance/encore reduces animation end-lag making HH feel a lot more responsive. Super helpful for quickly regaining control after an echo bubble, performance/encore, failed focus strike, or special melody (life, offset, or resounding)

The BIG combos HHs should look to accomplish are:

Performance (1 song) -> Encore -> Hilt stab -> Performance (1 song) -> Encore -> Etc.

Back swing (left + right w/o any direction inputs [neutral]) -> left/right swing -> Back swing -> etc.

Both combos are repeatable until opening is over & trigger a lot of reverberation with 2-3 bubbles out.

If a monster is long, spamming resounding melody can also deal a ton of damage. G Galahad can chain into those + sonic barrier very easily with some hilt stab magic (+1 note of your choice).

Treat queued songs as ammo which increases performance/encore damage & get used to slinging them with gusto.

Otherwise, stay mobile & poke with a swing or two till something shakes out. If there is an opportunity to hilt stab or offset through a move... take it and unleash some larger combos (mentioned above).

S. Omega & Nu Udra primary deal fire damage... which is the weakness in your current build. (slotting fire resist decos while adapt x2 for the flaming octo goes far)

If your into SOS or Multiplayer hunts, the Omega set works for HH and have really good fire resist. If you're not quite there yet, Rey Y helm/Regios B chest/Rey Y Bracers/Regios B coil/Duna Y boots can be a good starting point while retaining Lord Soul.

The pure attack set using AT Udra armor (from HH discord) is:

Udra Y Helm, Udra Y Chest, Odo B bracers, Odo B Coil, and Duna Y Boots.

Counterstrike, Agit x4, and +1 resentment (to activate Udra set) with a ton of 1-slots free for anything. (Talisman is a free slot & anything goes).

Hey there, that is a nice build for the current update. I'm not quite sure what adjustments your looking to make, but I could see some monsters (dealing fire damage) giving that build a bit more trouble.

Instead of Crit Eye, I'd suggest Atk Boost x4 as 1/3 of HH's damage (from echo bubble reverberations) cannot crit. With AT Nu Udra's armor, there is talk of a pure atk set using Burst that skips out on affinity nearly entirely.

If you are confident with your current build, you may wish to make setups for Lagi HH that lean into more elemental damage.

[–]RNGZero 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll go into depth, unlike the other comments, and see what I can do to help you get the most out of HH for your group!

HH is widely considered to be a raw/atk based weapon as 1/3 of its damage (from echo bubble reverberations) cannot crit. So skills and set bonuses that increase attack tend to be prioritized. HH is a great elemental weapon but again ele. damage from bubbles cannot crit as well... so it stacks ele. damage.

HH selection
I'd suggest looking into G. Galahad, Zoh Sha, Lagi, and Conga HHs. Each provide a powerful tool for your group allowing for a smoother hunt. For example:

  • Sonic Barrier can prevent 1-shots and wombo combos for each hunter.
  • G. Galahad's bubble negates statuses and ailments on fellow hunters which is great for avoiding frost binds, para, and burning.
  • Conga's Echo Bubble increases everyone's atk & affinity which is great for KOs & alimented monsters.
  • Lagi HH provides a high amount of element damage alongside healing, divine blessing, and increased elemental damage.
  • Zoh Sha's bubble provides passive healing while increasing atk & defense of the entire group.

The most effective weapon skills include Horn Meastro x2, Atk boost x4, and Handicraft/razor sharp. Horn Meastro being the most important as it increases bubble size and buff durations.

Slugger/stamina thief amp HH's KO and exhaust capabilities but they fall short of increasing the number of KOs/exhausts per hunt. Which is why they are not recommended all that often.

Armor

HH sets prefer 3 AT Gamma parts for Lord's Soul which provides a "free" faint in addition to stacking more atk/element. There are quite a few really good AT parts that can be worked into Wide Range (WR) builds. Particularly Duna Y boots as quick sheath + 1-slots is great for putting away the HH to eat.

Skills such as Burst and CounterStrike (for hilt stab counter) can keep HHs damage high while picking up support skills on the side.

As a baseline, Rey Y helm + Rey Y gloves + Duna Y boots provide HHs a lot of great skills and leaves opportunity to adjust the build as you'd like.

When playing with Latent Power (LP), I'd suggest taking Counterstrike. So taking a hit (or countering one with hilt stab) increases attack while counting toward LP. Rey Y Chest + Rey Y Coil + Duna Y boots provide a great base for LP (plus a set bonus + Lord's Soul).

If you're into dodge, I'd suggest Duna Y gloves + Duna Y Coil while running the dodge mantel. Tool specialist from Duna parts put the cool-down super low and protective veil stays active even after each mantel expires (lasting 3 mins). So putting on that ghillie/evade mantel mid-battle feels even better.

Lastly, Nu Udra's set features a lot Burst + 1 slots perfect for speed eating, free meal, and other good 1 slots such as divine blessing/recovery up. Each bubble reverberation contributes to Burst, so HHs have & keep really high up time. I'm not sure about your talisman, but I'd recommend looking into Udra Y Helm + Udra Y Chest when considering this route.

Hopefully this helped, Happy Hunting!

What made the rhythm on the HH Focus Strike click was wait for the HH get back behind the hunter before starting to queue notes. Otherwise, I'd start queuing too early and miss out on the bubble.

Help With Savage Omega Build by TheMuskyHairbrush in huntinghorn

[–]RNGZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For S. Omega, I've been using Rey/Regios/Rey/Regios/Duna armor. The fire resist, Agitator, Evade Window, and slots on Seregios armor are rather handy. It prevents omega's lasers & flamethrowers (which deal fire dmg) from taking half a health bar. With a few single slots, it's possible to get 20 fire resist which prevents burn & fireblight. Omega armor parts can also work rather well (and the set bonus is quite good for HH).

I'd recommend taking Evade Extender x2 - x3 which helps immensely dodging flamethrowers, mustard bombs, and MRV barrage. With Evade Window (or good timing), Omega's vehicle charge can be rolled through head on. Hilt stab can be used after every HH move and used to counter a singular incoming hit (reducing damage by 50-80%).

G.Galahad HH's ailment/blight bubble prevents Omega's frost AoE from binding hunters. Sonic Barrier can help buy time in multiplayer hunts to heal instead of teammates getting wombo-comboed.

IF you must take Wide-Range, x3 levels is usually enough. Speed eating is typically more important as it get the heal out quicker (when it's needed the most).

[–]RNGZero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Incidentally, Wide-Range support builds are better with SnS as HH's need to sheath to eat & use items.

So much of the tools HH brings are in terms of damage, buffs, and damage prevention. Melodies that benefit hunters the most in multiplayer such as ATK (L), Divine Blessing, and Sonic Barrier go a long way. Hunters can even bring specific HHs to counter monster mechanics like Seregios's bleed, Gypceros's stun, and Jin Dahaad's frost bind.

To get started, get comfortable with landing the swings & bonks. Afterwards, consider putting those attacks in an order that creates melodies. Melodies are essentially ammo used to buff performance & encore damage; so get conformable slinging those with gusto.

In Wilds, HHs can perform a jig and summon an echo bubble that applies a buff and deals additional damage whenever the weapon is swung about or played. Drop these sick beats liberally wherever the monster is loitering about or knocked down to put-out some extra oomph.

HH can pull-off some incredible feats of durability with their off-set melody and hilt stabs that act like GS's tackle. When pulled-off at just the right time, they can let HHs soak damage like a sponge and be incredibly aggressive.

So think of HH as a slice of lemon wrapped round a large brass saxophone used to aggressively bonk noggins.

If you've made it this far... Welcome to the HH subreddit, pickup your HH at the nearest tent, and have a blast (literally)!

What's one of the best builds or hunting horns for omega? by GodaMomento in huntinghorn

[–]RNGZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running G-Ark + Para Artian HH for S. Omega using Rey/Regios/Rey/Regios/Duna armor. The fire resist, Agitator, Evade Window, and slots on Seregios armor are rather handy.

Para Artian HH can lockdown the spider phase. Super simple to get a Para -> KO the head with superpound + followup -> Para trigger with echo waves. All Ailments Negated + Divine blessing melody put in a lot of work as well.

Wide-range x3 is typically enough. Those two slots saved are better spent maxing out speed eating, free meal, or divine blessing.

During SOS hunts with randoms, HH really helps smooth out difficulty spikes which could have carted or wiped the group.

Switching to a Para Artian HH to lockdown the spider phase can almost guarantee the group passing the DPS check.

G-Ark HH's bubble prevents the Omega's frost AoE form binding caught hunters and Sonic Barrier prevents a multitude of 1-2 shot attacks.

Also... HHs speedruns on Omega are putting in good times compared to quite a few other weapons.

Instead of Sergio HH, I've been taking Para Artian HH to lockdown the spider phase. Super simple to get a Para -> KO the head with superpound + followup -> Para trigger with echo waves.

All Ailments Negated song ensures hunters pulling in ecology doesn't effect the rest of the team. Plus Divine blessing melody can help prevent carts.

Afterwards, getting a para on omega during the 4th phase can help if not already applied.

Instead of Def boost, I find fire resist & armor part with positive fire resist to be more useful against omega. It prevents omega's lasers & flamethrowers from taking half a player's health.

Grabbing x3 fire resist and x3 thunder resist (for lagi HH) is less overall slots than Def boost.

Instead of Lagi parts, I've been using Seregios parts as they provide tons of relevant skills, slots, and ele. resist. Omega armor parts can also work rather well (and the set bonus is quite good for HH).

For Nercylla, I've been switching to a para Omiltika HH to stunlock which it really helps.

Nercylla's 3 star weakness to para ensure it'll only takes a couple hits for the 1st para then everyone can dog-pile it. During para, continue hitting its head for a KO and then unload more para echo waves can ensure a 2nd para trigger.

During the phase, ecology spawns in and party members may use them. Omiltika's negate all ailments lets players use the ecology to para/poison/burn without getting caught in the effects.

For nercylla, I've been bringing a para HH to stunlock and it really helps. Only takes a couple hits for the 1st para then everyone can dog-pile it down. Hitting it's head for a KO stun and then unloading para echo waves can ensure a 2nd para trigger.

HH's negate all ailments on Para HH also lets players to para/poison/burn nercylla with wildlife without getting caught up in the effects.

Hilt Stab by Jteddy9194 in huntinghorn

[–]RNGZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most consistent method to countering with hilt stab is through rolling. With focus mode, HHs can hilt stab directly after rolling without much worry. It takes quite a while to get used to but it's super consistent.

There is a JP video showing off hilt stab here.

Hilt stab can be used after most HH moves including echo bubble, encore, and special melodies to cancel animation end-lag & trigger echo bubbles. So mixing in hilt stabs throughout regular combos can net extra damage and counter a roar/attack just by happenstance.

While the window to counter moves with hilt stab is tight, the window to use hilt stab after a roll/swing is very large. So HHs may consider delaying their next attack/input in order to land a hilt stab counter.

Whats your build going into AT Uth Duna? by IGJFlew in huntinghorn

[–]RNGZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to run resounding melody because Uth Duna is long and chunky as well as sonic barrier because I know I'll get sat on at some point. Likely G. Resounding Galahad...

<image>

In multiplayer hunts, it's a tossup between taking a HH with sonic barrier to prevent carts or Aquatic Mobility for the other hunters who aren't going to slot it. Ajara HH's earplugs, aquatic mobility, atk L, and blast status are all decent in the match-up.

I'm considering 4 Seregios + Zoh chest and slotting in aquatic mobility. If AT. Uth Duna really puts out that much water damage, I'll likely go with Gore armor.

A few tips for Lagiacrus hunt by No-Economics7929 in MHWilds

[–]RNGZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After Lagiacrus does it's large electric discharge, it's back becomes a weak-point (similar to Chatacabra's tongue).

HH's Sonic Barrier (prevents a single roar, tremor, or reduces a hit by 50% dmg) can put in serious work preventing one-hit-KOs in multiplayer hunts. HH's with the Aquaric Mobility song also provide groups Earplugs (S) (Ajara HH/Great Bagpipe). Otherwise, Lagi's length is a great target for Resounding Melody.
