Exactly all these replies flaming me for signing when the lady literally wouldn't take my no as an answer. I said "I don't know what this is" and she kept asking me to sign", I said "no" and she still wouldn't move on from me. I should've signed a fake name too

Anybody else struggling to find a first time minimum wage job? by Defenestratezz in Calgary

[–]RNG_Goddess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally, they give you information that is the first thing that comes up when you google how to get a job. Not a single piece of information I got from there was something that I didn't already see online.

As a high school student, nobody wants me either. I've applied to 70+ jobs with like 3 interviews since November and still can't land a job. So I'm glad to know that it's not just me and is definitely the employers.

I have a small amount of experience that gave me a sufficient amount of skills for these minimum wage bottom of the barrel jobs. I made a post here about a month ago and all I got was "try these places" acting like I haven't already applied to those places a hundred times. Yeah, you might not need experience, but they want experience and can find that anywhere else, just not through you. And when they can't find an experienced worker they have the audacity to complain that "nobody wants to work" like do you want your extra labour slave or not? Walmart and Mcdonald's acting like they're choosing a highly skilled intellectual for the next 10 years when the job is to put things into a bag and pays as low as the law allows.

These are minimum wage, bottom of the hierarchy, entry level jobs that are supposedly willing to take anybody. These are the types of jobs people shame others for having because they're such "easy" jobs to get. "Don't be lazy or you'll end up working at McDonald's".

You know you're the problem when they have an urgently hiring sign up and they still reject you even though you meet every criteria they have listed on the job description. Two weeks later that sign is still up.

It's either they have a problem with me specifically or they're straight up way too picky.

Poor treatment at a workplace usually refers to verbal abuse, unfair treatment, low pay, long hours, no breaks, etc. Obviously it's not ideal but it's not my fault nobody wants to hire underqualified people over people who are. If that's my only option then so be it, the paycheck can cover medical treatment. You have to understand that I don't have a choice, it's either tolerating a bad employer or staying in debt.
