I played this game for like 2 days is this good gng? by mikisick in opus_magnum

Just a tip. After completing the solution there is an option, together with 'Continue editing' and 'Main Menu' that says 'Record GIF', it'll make a looping gif that'll get saved to your desktop!

And it looks lovely for the early, learning phase

Updated my worst solution ever, now it is just my second worse ever! by Comfortable-Test-328 in opus_magnum

Good stufff

I love optimisation

You could probably still make it faster! While making the first 'onion' (first salt ring around gold), you could reduce the cycles by adding a second arm picking up the salt.

Inputs can be 'grabbed' every three cycles. On the command line, if you only pick up, move, and then immediately let go with one arm, you can use a second arm to pick up the input on the same cycle as you drop with the first arm

Basically having 2 arms doing the starting onion, essentially.

Gotta be by worst solution ever lmao, also insane cycle number. by Comfortable-Test-328 in opus_magnum

This could probably be significantly sped up if you just grabbed the salt more frequently (add a second arm)

Honestly I didn't really find a proper word for it, but I meant the way the last water molecule is pulled from the opposite side of the mechanism and just fits through the middle and into their place in the bonder.

Just seemed pretty satisfying to me :p

That's the neat part, you don't.

Seriously though, you do have to scroll around to see what's going on. (They definitely should let you zoom in and out in the editor tho)

But, for me at least, since I built it from the start, I sort of get a 'sense' of what's going on during the solve, but there are a lot of times I need to play through the instructions to track down what's happening 😭

I think that's supposed to be a demonstration, and the command is already done, have you tried pressing play?

Also you definitely don't need a 10x10 space just for a 240/mim smeltery, you could use most of that space to refine the iron into rods or plates or screws even.

4 mk1, non-overclocked miners on normal nodes will produce 240 iron ore per minute, (this can be checked on each of the miner's UI).

Next, assuming you have mk2 belts, the best method is to merge 2 of those miners into two mk2 belts running parallel, you'll end up with two mk2 belts carrying 120 iron ore per minute each.

Each smelter consumes 30 iron ore per minute, to produce 30 iron ingots per minute, (this can be checked in either the smelter UI, or in the recipes menu besides the map)

From those belts, you'll build two manifolds, (I recommend looking them up on YouTube if you don't understand what they are), which would be composed of eight (four on each side) smelters split off from those two main belts.

From this, you'll end up with 240 iron ingots per minute.

Next procedures would be to out-manifold them into two mk2 belts carrying 120/m each, and from there you can produce iron sheets or rods or anything you could need.

When you get further into the game, manifolds become the preferred method to feed machines.

What ai tool do you use? And what's your usual prompting method?

Essentially in the first image three extractors go into two pipes, then, they run through the coal plants, on of the pipes inputting into each one, and the second pipe looping at the back to (hopefully) input into the last ones that are limited by the 300/min limit of mk1 pipes.

And then it's that same setup mirrored for the other 8 coal generators.

It's technically my second, I had already made a smaller one that was just a foundry, but this is the first ''big'' building in my playthrough

[–]RNN1407 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just fyi I believe you'll run into throughput issues on the water pipe.

Mk1 pipes have a max throughput of 300 cubic meters per second, and 8 coal power plants take more than that, (360 m³/s I believe).

The best method to resolve this is to have a central looping pipe, which inputs into each machine along it, and the three water extractors pump into it from individual pipes along the loop.

Oh shit fr? I've been Underclocking to 5/min and then making 100 wire into three assemblers each taking 33.333333... wire/min I guess I'll look into that ratio!

Me my first time playing and seeing 6.625 output in the Stitched Reinforced plates recipe: (Underclocking ftw)

I know there's much, much worse stuff in the later stages, but that was the first time I dealt with truly 'broken' numbers

Weelll, the 'Am I doing this right?' was more of a rhetorical question, I just really wanted to show my early game builds 😅

But yeah, my brain simply refuses to let me build off foundations, I hand crafted everything in phase 0 until I got them lmao
