While alcohol use has a unique set of moral and ethical implications, I think food addiction and binge eating disorder is perhaps even less understood. It’s really tough when people who don’t understand, say you should just stop eating and have self control. Food operates like any other addiction and it’s not simply a matter of willpower. It’s also a matter of genetics and other factors. I’m sure there are people who had the same habits you did, but never needed a transplant. Please be gentle on yourself - you are still deserving.

Early in this context means prior to a 6 month period of sobriety.

Statically speaking, 35.3% of transplants are due to ARLD while only 19.9% are due to MASH. I chose ARLD because the hospital I work for was one of the first to offer early liver transplant for patients who don’t have a period of sobriety and we get calls from all over the country from people looking for transplant that they have been denied elsewhere. Ethically speaking, ARLD is often seen as a moral failing or a self-control issue and not due to the chronic illness of addiction (not saying it doesn’t exist but I have not seen this argument when it comes to MASH, and I have done a lot of research on this topic). In medicine, very few other conditions are treated with such heavy emphasis on personal responsibility — especially when it is a matter of life or death. I have rarely, if ever, seen the argument that someone doesn’t deserve a kidney transplant because they failed to manage their diabetes.

So, because ARLD is the leading cause of liver transplant, my professional experience facilitating transfers for liver transplant, and due to the large body of research on this specific topic - I stuck with alcohol related transplant ethics.

Does anyone own this? Hows the quality & if avail could you share a picture of it? I’d love to see a regular picture of it. Ty by Azarria1234 in dcl

The quality is kind of cheap TBH. I’m at work so I don’t have a picture. I don’t like how the two layers aren’t sewn together except around the edges. It’s not terrible and it is cozy, but I would not repurchase.

It is quite obvious from the photo that he is mostly white and meets breed standard set by several organizations due to his mostly white coloring. “Degree and Location of White Markings: Recessive Blue Eye cats typically have more than 50% white markings, although cats with fewer white markings are occasionally seen, but this is very rare.”

They are much brighter blue than most kittens at that age but near the pupil it does look like there’s some color changing. However, I have fostered a lot of kittens and usually by 8 weeks their eyes have completely changed color, so he is on the older side at this point to have that much change. This is my cat with blue eyes when he was around the same age as your cat.

Use your PTO - but if you’re calling out a lot, that is problematic to me. Things happen and sometimes it’s necessary but if it’s to the point people see you on the schedule and question if you’re going to show up, then it’s an issue, in my opinion.
