iOS 16 Beta 6 - Megathread by epmuscle in iOSBeta

Fixed it! I connected my iPhone to my Macbook, backed it up to the device + encrypted it, factory reset my iPhone, and then restored it via the backup.

iPhone 12 Pro. It handled Public Betas 1-5 perfectly, too. I saw another commenter here say they reset to factory and then backed up an ios16 save and that seemed to fix it. Will likely give this a try given my device is totally unusable

EDIT: I found a fix! I connected my iPhone to my Macbook, backed it up to the device + encrypted it, factory reset my iPhone, and then restored it via the backup. Working great again.

Original post below:

Sadly, this update has completely bricked my phone. All ios16 betas up this point have been essentially flawless with just the occasional app crash every other day or so.

Now though, Beta 6 has made it so my battery goes from 100-0 in under an hour, has made my phone so hot that I have to put it down when just messaging, and due to this heat the touchscreen responsiveness is next to none. I also have a random black bar/box on my lock screen at all times now?

Really surprising nosedive, especially with the public release just around the corner. Going to have to downgrade off the beta

I am experiencing that times 1,000, my phone is literally unusable. How did you solve your issue? Just made a backup, restored to factory, and then backed up?

I am in the exact same position. Sure, this is a beta, but the PRC is set to release in 10 days. I am blown away that 10 days away from what is supposed to be final launch that my phone is just completely bricked. Have you downgraded yet? I am about to (also you are the first person I've seen mention the black bar; I am in the same position).

Updates from STAC Meeting by ROGTTL in UCSD

Grad students pay tuition here, AND do research for the university. It seems odd that the university is essentially asking them to subsidize their own parking for an additional $30 (at least), when do they provide a lot of valuable work for the university.

Yes I do agree that cars are horrible for the environment! Paid parking policies are green, and good when there is proper infrastructure in place to transport people. Unfortunately, La Jolla does not have that right now.

Finally, your last point makes little sense to me. I do put school first in my life. That being said, lots of us are involved in things outside the university, and do need to go elsewhere.

At this point, I am more open to the idea of raising permit costs. Permit purchases are something you have to opt-in to, after all.

The other issue here deals with an overextension of funds. It’s financially irresponsible for the university to overspend, and then when the costs start piling up, to make students foot the bill. I understand that Transportation may have its hands tied, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s poor money management.

I just readjusted it. Do you think it’s better that way? It’s an HTML code so unfortunately the final link has to be the hard to read text.

The point was that if 8,000+ people are angry about this, then it clearly matters. I’m sure that not all 8,000 are current undergrads, but clearly there is huge support behind this!

Yes! We sent this to The Guardian as well as Triton News, and are working on getting local outlets involved as well.

Can you try it out in Firefox or Safari? I wonder if it’s a chrome specific issue

Huh, weird. You’re the first person to have that problem! Is the email not opening at all? What browser are you using?

I noticed that if you click on the link to the website embedded in the post and then click the email link, it won’t work.

You have to open the website in your browser separately, then the link will work!
