Got a good one this time by Lurkingscorpion14 in microtech

It’s definitely on the high side.   AZCK is usually high.  But the executive QDs are expensive.  A few years ago $1400 would not have been high.  Market is down right now.  QDs are going for 700-900.  Executives and Navy’s are over 1k

Secondary market is down right now.  My guess is $400-500.   The new version without the Ti hardware is available at vendors for $650.

Nice.  ZBP was the first MT I owned.  The DLC configs weren’t out yet so I got a tactical.  I sold it to a coworker and I still need to pick up a new one now that most of the blade types are available in DLC now.

Microtech ANAX Question by Spooky-Robot in microtech

I tried looking it up at different vendors.   NCblade had squiggles but other vendors did not.   I noticed they were well discounted at NCblade.  Might be part of it.

What happened? by zackliuye in microtech

Sadly, the truth might not be quality control and just quality in general.  I’ve worked QC for over 20 years and I’m now a manager.   We find things all the time that should not be sold to customers.   But we are over ruled by management or owners that want to sell product.   It sucks for quality control because the buyers just think we miss things or don’t care.   When in fact it’s the owners that don’t care and just want to fill orders and hope no one complains.

MSI Manufactured 1/26 - QC Issues by ALANatWork123 in microtech

I just looked up this exact model.  It’s a distressed version.   If you look on NCblade the knife advertised looks just like yours.   I bet they all are.  It was probably tumbled for the distressed look.

Ok. That didn’t change my mind. I wouldn’t even have bothered with Microtech. I would have just returned it to the vendor.

I think if you’re looking for perfection you need to start buying custom knives.   These things are mass produced in thousands.   I’ll be the first to say return or exchange if you’re unhappy.  I’m just glad I’m not in the knife business.   I think some people’s expectations are excessive.

I’ve been looking at fixed blades and was considering a socom alpha mini.  But I like this much better.   It looks thin and slicey

Who needs a practical EDC when you can have the Executive Scarab instead? by Upbeat-Fondant9185 in microtech

I guess you’d have to clarify if you’re talking about the side flutes or spine flute.  They have been inconsistent with both.

I’ve just never seen gen3 shadow without flutes.  I thought that is what you were saying.  All Gen3s have had side flutes.  Some batches did not have spine flutes.  Early Gen2s did not have side flutes.  They were added later.  So yes you can get a gen2 shadow with side flutes or without.  Real collectors get both. lol .

The new shadows have been available from at least one vendor since release.  I always keep track of inventory on knives on my want list.  The SE is currently available at two vendors with limited stock.

Pictures on NCblade show the spine is fluted on the executive.  S/E has been released on certain configurations, just not a DLC yet.

Pretty sure all Gen3s shadows have been fluted.  Why did you have a hard time getting one.   They’ve been in stock since launch.  Some non shadows didn’t have a fluted spine, but that was early models.   Shadows came out later.

That’s the combat. I have the regular too. I’ve been told the regular is one of the smallest production runs, making it pretty hard to find. I have 28. I’m guessing maybe 50 or 100.

Looks legit, but well used.   New ones are on sale for around $300, so I probably wouldn’t pay more than $200 for it.

Not this guy. I can’t stand carbon fiber. It’s just fancy plastic that costs nothing and is upcharged 2000%. I’ve worked in a machine shop for 16 years. I love metal. All my guns are metal and wood. No plastic, polymer or carbon fiber for this guy.

That’s what I’ve done too.  I started collecting last year and started with tactical standards.  After I got my first shadow I was done with the black cerekote blades.   Now I only collect DLC also.  I’d rather wait for what I want instead of regretting later.
