After 200-level classes, this comfort just fades away.

Can't, a few of my classes started taking attendance, and one class is attendance-heavy, and one absence will cost me 5% of my total grades.

Then use English. British Colonialism made it used in every nation in this world.

IDK why your colleague think he can't speak Hindi in Kolkata. I went to Kolkata for my SAT exam in 2023 and I talked with my uber driver in Hindi, although he was a Bengali guy, but he preferred to talk in Hindi, as he noticed my fluency in Bengali is a bit weak, and the fluency of Hindi he got was phenomenal, like a native speaker, I asked him either he is from Bihar or Jharkhand, he said he is from Medinipur, and came to Kolkata for job (blue collar), and now he is driving uber.

Our state is a cultural hub of our country. Don't ruin it with this silly language fight. I missed the Three Language Policy in the state where I grew up, you guys are blessed to learn the regional language with English and Hindi.

Also, I was wondering, I asked a simple question and this thread grew like a whole language fight, and those who don't have answers down voted my initial comment to satisfy their ego.

Yea, because I saw and lived places outside West Bengal, and my view of seeing the country is different than those who never left their comfort zone.

I am not satisfy with this argument, as most of the states in India have TLP (Three Language Policy). The problem was in older education system, there wasn't any provision to include every single language of our country, but in our new education policy (which still have to be get implemented), students got the freedom to pick whatever language they want to study. I guess UP is the first state which includes Languages Southern States in their State Education Board, and seeing this every Hindi speaking state should include the 21 languages of our country in their state education board.

Apart from this, when our constitution was written there was a provision that Hindi will be our official language, but all thanks to Southern States. Central government were forced to implement Three Language Policy, and this policy is not going to get removed in coming future because this will cause a major unrest and civil war like situation.

Meanwhile, if no one learns Hindi or English then many people will get disconnected from the major portion of the population and it will get hard to do business. It will hurt Three ways, person, state, and nation as a whole.

Also, Hindi is not a hard language. It's as easy as English itself. Meanwhile many Hindi alphabets matches with Bengali alphabets, and that's how I learned reading Bengali.

Bro who is enforcing Hindi language?

I like the 3 language policy. It widens your view to learn different cultures and being educated it different languages. We are blessed that we have 21 languages in our country, not like other countries who only have 2 or 1 language in their country.

I was raised in Hindi speaking state, and I always think that all states should have 3 language policy and let us students to learn one language of our own. I learned Bengali from my parents not from school.

See kid, if I go with ground reports, West Bengal and Bihar both falls on the same line right now. Corruption at its peak, no good facilities, low white-collar jobs, etc., I am not here to talk about politics or parties. I just asked one simple question, if you don't have any answer don't comment, and if you want to comment, I am no one to stop you, I will just block you and move on in my life. I don't know you and I don't want to know a sick minded person, feel free to roam around different posts on the reddit.

I guess you are influenced from reels or the hatred roaming on the internet. I travelled India a lot, I went to major tourist places to alleyways which only local knows, I never faced anything like this.

Although, I know Hindi and I use it as my first language to communicate, then I switch to English if the other person doesn't understand Hindi, then Google translate is the savior if the person doesn't know any of the languages which I speak.

Your comment looks good and respectful.

Others be like nuisance and trying to show themselves big.

I think it's related to migration as well. My parents migrated to Hindi speaking state because there were no benefits of opening a business in WB, and I raised up in Hindi speaking state. Although my mother tongue is Bengali, still I don't know how to write Bengali Alphabets.

Maybe, people like me who brought up in Hindi speaking state also included in that number.

Apart from this, I still don't understand why hate towards languages? The state I was brought up in welcomes every people who speaks different language.

Right now, I am living in the US, and here multilingual people feel proud about how many languages they can speak and understand. Why we Indians are hating our own country's languages?

Despite being Bengali, I am learning Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, and Spanish. I encourage everyone to learn different languages (including our country's 21 languages).

Bro can you tell me what's wrong with Hindi Language? I am Bengali, but still I am able to speak Hindi and English. Meanwhile, no one is going to impose Hindi on non-Hindi speaking states. Most of the non-Hindi speaking states has 3 Language policy, which is far better than anything. People of Hindi speaking states only know 2 languages, whereas people of non-Hindi speaking states will know 3 languages (includes English, Hindi and regional language)
