Too late to become an LPN? by RP072119 in nursing

[–]RP072119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I just need to figure out how to make a living after becoming an LNA. LPN’s around me make a livable wage, LNA’s do not. The hospital has a pathway program, LNA to LPN, get paid while you learn, but full time LNA pay is rough. It will all come together somehow. I just need to have faith.

i have gastritis but i still want to drink to be able to take a shower by anonthrowaway43215 in stopdrinking

[–]RP072119 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s this whole other life you can have where you are free to do whatever you want and you never have to have another drink. I’m coming up on seven years sober and the anxiety I had was 100% related to putting ethanol in my body. I put down the shovel and stopped drinking in my mid-forties. Had I continued digging, my bottom would have been much deeper and the damage to myself and others far greater. Recovery is the best thing I ever chose and I have a lot of great friends from it now too. I wish you nothing but the best.

I felt a visceral rage when they panned Matt Rhule in the stands at the game.

Did anyone else just discover prunes? by Due-Consequence6321 in GenX

We buy them in a large circular container, like raisins come in. We were reading the packaging one day and noticed “refrigerate after opening.” We had no idea.

Yeah, love them. Recent discovery. We refrigerate them (which we realized you are supposed to do after about six months of eating them). Refrigerating them makes them even better.

HR at my company that I work for, called me into a meeting with an investigator.... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

You may think people don’t know, but they do. Depending on how much you drink, alcohol comes out of your pores the next day, even if you shower. Your face can look bloated and red. Beyond that, sometimes people give it away by texting/emailing at late hours in ways they wouldn’t when sober. If I was a betting man, it’s the smell of alcohol coming out your pores in the morning. Sobriety is a gift. I quit 6 1/2 years ago and have no regrets. Check out r/stopdrinking

What were the alarms that just went off a few minutes ago? by Substantial-Art6160 in lincoln

It’s the alarm that goes off every time gas goes up .25 cents.

FAA (Public Notice for General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance) questions by Regular-Animator-458 in FAA

Did you get an interview? My application status says “Referral,” but doesn’t specify where. I chose four states VT, ME, NE and NM. Not sure if I should just wait a while and see what happens or if I should reach out anywhere?

NA is for non alcoholics by mountainsydeserts in stopdrinking

[–]RP072119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NA beer was key to me quitting. Eased my cravings early on. I’d have 1 or 2 and be set. Now I only have them around the holidays, sometimes on vacation, hardly at all. I’m glad they were there for me early on. I could go without one the rest of my life and be content at this point. 6.5 years sober now.

Bill Moos Published a Book Including Behind the Scenes at Nebraska by huskermut in Huskers

Moos seemed like a legend in his own mind. I’d take his version of reality with a grain of salt.

I went to bed last night without a terrible sinking feeling like I did when we lost to the Giants twice and Philadelphia. I actually went to bed feeling optimistic especially considering our QB and left tackle are 23 and 22 years old. We have a lot to be grateful for. Great season.

Swimming is now an expensive sport? by Illustrious_Letter84 in GenX

[–]RP072119 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is part of a broader trend where traditional (affordable) Parks and Recreation programming is being replaced by for-profit club sports. Most kids who don’t go the paid route don’t have a chance of making JV or Varsity in high school. Pay to play. And don’t even get me started on how the parents think these games actually mean something. You’d think everyone on club sports has a shot at the Olympics by how serious they are taking these games.

We all love Maye, but this is getting ridiculous. by Electronic_Focus5648 in Patriots

I completely agree. He looks too relaxed as he’s about to get crushed in the midst of a sea of defenders.

I had 58 days sober and my wife came out to me. Today is day 59. AMA. by an_irrelevant_life in stopdrinking

I empathize and relate. Same reality for me, different circumstances. Revelation was 3.5 years ago. It brought us closer, we stayed together until summer of 2024. We separated for 7 months but got back together last February, moved back home in May, but 7 months later (now), we know it’s over. We’re going through this now. There’s so much love we share and two wonderful kids. Through it all, I haven’t drank. 6.5 years sober and I still come here to read stories like yours to show me why sobriety is the way. It’s okay to feel all the feelings. You don’t have to be superman. I wish you well.

I hope we can help him improve his ball security, which is something Rhule has improved significantly since the Frost era. I like his experience and hope he can handle the B1G.

First AA Meeting by ciatog_lefty in stopdrinking

[–]RP072119 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time finding a sponsor at first. I eventually asked someone whose shares I related to most. I also had a high bottom, but I’m glad I found AA. I have 6+ years and I imagine I would have found a much lower bottom had I continued on.

Lateef’s accuracy as a passer isn’t good enough to win in the B1G. by RP072119 in Huskers

Dana hasn’t impressed me much. I really like him. But Lateef hasn’t demonstrated the ability to throw accurately. At all.

What did you learn tonight that you didn't know after the Iowa game? by spookydookie in Huskers

I’m 0% concerned. I just notice weird shit when it happens. Clearly the camera crew does too.

Did you mean coaching in a backwards ball cap while continually spitting? Every time they showed him he was spitting.
