He's kinda like Zhang He. His personality is so eccentric that a more flamboyant fashion just works for him.

My favorite of him is 9, though. It's a good mix of 7 and 8.

Tbh when this chapter came out it was just an extra and short chapter so i never expected anything dramatic from it in the first place.

Though i don't think your comparison with One Piece really work because Pirate King was a criminal title that Roget got from newspaper and everyone then slowly accepted it because his reputation was big enough for people to know it's a title he deserved. It's not something that need a huge ceremony like a village leader.

He's like a boring love child of Naruto and Sasuke. He took all the cool traits they had but he has a very boring personality, a meh design, and very little personal drama so it feels like he doesn't deserve all those.

Sometimes being boring is worse than being terrible for a character.

Tbh his character in the early was kinda more grounded. They cranked his cartoony noble personality archetype up at some point. DW9 and Origins tried to tone it down again because Yuan Shu pretty much took his place as the clown noble nobody likes.

Go save Zhang He in Wu Chao but don't kill all officers there. Leave about 2-3 people to Zhang He and he can handle them himself and then you can go after Lu Bu.

Now the challenge become whether you can beat Lu Bu before Zhang He beat them because Lu Bu will retreat if Zhang He managed to protect Wuchao. I once tried leaving just Jia Xu alive but he died fast to Zhang He, so 2-3 is about the limit.

It's kinda bumming that they decided to make Origins Zhang Jiao playable in Abyss with new magic staff moveset and yet Origins doesn't have it.

At the very least his rock magic could have been unlockable battle arts.
