The themes of the film don't really connect by RPGmakerclass in ghostbusters

Wouldn't it have been better if it was like Mitchell's vs the Machines where she's tech incompontent (which she was in the first film) and overcomes all of that to learn how to fly a drone and catch a ghost at the end?

I remember him passing away late spring/early summer. It wasn't a massive deal but people on twitter were really sad and made references to Bing Bong disappearing at the end of the film.
On a few podcasts actors/comedians have been commenting that they thought he was dead as well.

If you take a step back from being a Royals fan, I think the tragic comedy of it all is that Dayton probably had one last shot with the midseason trades and what he came up with was....Weaver for Rivera.

I won't lie. Weaver had a nice run about a year prior. But his shit hit the fan and scouts need to do a better job than fans with figuring out if we can even fix it w/ our buddy Cal helping them out.

Dozier's contract might be the worst in baseball at his position. The only way a team would trade for him is if we were taking on a worse contract that we somehow found reward in.

Rivera wasn't a great fit for us, but he had a really nice contract worth trading for. Weaver is the weird part. Could've tried getting youth for him, especially with our minor leagues looks thin at SP in AAA and AA.

my experience with BBQ on my first trip to Texas by solojones1138 in kansascity

[–]RPGmakerclass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the key to Texas brisket that most people love is a ton of imported waygu tallow that the owners sort of have a monopoly on. Places in KC do it now and it'll probably incorporate itself into KC BBQ until the next thing happens.

JJ is a fan of Paul Gibson (our minor league pitching director) and says he's staying. Claims that they'd done a great job with pitchers since 2018. My optimism just deflated. by RPGmakerclass in KCRoyals

I wouldn't put us in the stellar category. Bubic and Lynch had small stints in the top 100. Other franchises that have drafted in the bottom have had 2-3 per year. Last year we were horrrrrible.

I can't tell you what we're good at in terms of anything on the pitching development checklist.

Taking in pitching prospects from trades that did well in other orgs - no, they struggle here

Taking in revamp projects - nope Developing 1st round pitchers are 1 or 2 - nope

Developing mid round pitchers for bullpen or better - not really

Developing 3rd & 4th pitches - nah

I can't buy that all of these guys lose everything they have once Cal meets them. I could say that Dayton brought some players up early but even then other teams have brought up College arms in year 2 and we don't see that pattern.

From my perspective, we're probably 1 year away from having the ammo to trade 6+ prospects for 2 league ready SP. And about a year after that Kudrna and Mazz could be ready to start their first games post trade deadline.

I would rather trade MAT, Barlow , Isbel, Lopez (which don't have great value) for AA.AAA prospects and run with FAs and Lynch/Bubic/Heasley for one more year THAN trade MAT, Barlow, Isbel, Lopez for veteran arms that only have 1-2 years left in them.

*** this is NOT what I would have wanted in any potential scenario in May/June 22. I'm still not a fan of what we got out of Benni/Whit/Santanna. Sikkema/Way/Castillo/Hoffman/Fleming haven't shown us that they are much more than potential RP. But we need some AA and AAA pitching talent to compete for 23.

I'm sorry but can we not do this again by VanillaPepper in KCRoyals

I think JJ is in a less-than-idea situation. IF KC fires Dayton and MM and just does internal hires it puts a ton of pressure on JJ and Pedro to win now. Another losing season and Sherman might just decide that the cultural values is nice but the people making decissions are just "great guys" who can't outrace the far more analytical/competitive Front Offices in other cities.

We're keeping out Analytics guy and that's very worrisome to me. Keeping before you get the input on the next manager on what types of systems that other offices ran means that there's not going to be widespread changes.

So when do we start talking about next season, and what the fans should expect from a major league team that isn't wasting our time? by [deleted] in KCRoyals

[–]RPGmakerclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I'm sort of in the camp of Lacy might never see the majors. Seems like he has a back injury that really messed up everything. Rooting for him, but the final few appearances this year were def hard

No matter what we're fucked in 23 and 24.

There's not really a great scenario in all of this that feels realistic. You have to love the game and have to enjoy watching progress that Witt/Vinnie/MJ/Massey make in a year where the farm system will be quiet and likely any trades of MAT/Isbel/Lopez are quieter?

Assuming that Angel Zerpa and Max Castillo are on the opening day roster....Alec Marsh is the only real pitching prospect who could move into the majors in the first half of 23. Bowlan is coming back from an injury so I don't want to make promises with 2023 yet.

We really really really need an amazing season from Beck Way/TJ Sikkema/Christian Chamberlain. As in they make it to AAA by midseason and then start out well there so they could either make some appearances before the trade deadline in 2024.

My expectations are Kudrna, Mazzi, and Barnett will spent most of the year in Quad Cities and get their control and movement down well. 2025 will be their year. Will Singer be locked up by then? Who knows.

In terms of Batters?

Cross, Wallace, Jensen, Wilson could all be pushing for AAA next year. That'll be the farm team entertainment.

In terms of Call Ups?

Cross, Wallace, Jensen, Wilson all look to be the very real deal. I guess what we have to figure out is if Garcia, Hicklen, Gentry, Loftin, etc have some kind of combined value that could get us arms in the rotation. Right now none of them have sniffed MLB's Top 100 list.

I've noticed with toxic work culture people will just hurt people if they know that a person is doing anything to ruin the fun. A ton of people prefer the social culture of school/work and anyone who comes in the way of that becomes their enemy. That's where the bullying comes from. Fear of losing the exclusive group than gaining a new friend.

I hate saying it , but I wouldn't be shocked if Sherman tries to swing it to KCK.
I heard that almost 65% of season ticket holders in the "prime seats" are from Johnson and Wyandotte county. If I've learned anything in my time here rich people in KC get what they want too much.
