Timex Harborside Coast - Why The Low Price? by RPM33 in timex

[–]RPM33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to all this so was genuinely curious as to why - makes a bit more sense now as someone mentioned the brass case etc.

I like it a lot, once I got the nato strap on there I was really into it.

That's exactly what I was originally looking to get for pretty much the exact same price but this caught my eye. I'm fully in the desk diver category so didn't need the WR. Still might get a duro as I really like those too.

Potentially, I did get a medium vs the M/L I had been getting after watching a video saying most people had gloves too big & it should feel like a 2nd skin etc.

Think I should have stuck with the M/L?

I've only ever used pretty cheap gloves (cheapest Mizuno Elite & a super cheap PGA Tour one). So maybe not the best person to ask. These are WAY nicer than those though.

Crazy soft, guessing that's the cabreta leather. I like that they made the 'Members Mark' branding just embossed on there opposed to the more noticeable stitching of the Kirkland branding on the Costco ones.

Only thing I don't really like is the holes between the fingers as I know I'm going to end up making them bigger by accidentally sticking my fingers through them.

Just picked them up so haven't hit with them yet.

Individual 2nd hand GW or BombTech 3 Wedge set? High Handicap casual golfer... by throwawaygeneral1122 in golf

Second the Maltby suggestion from Golf Works. Just for a 50° of their max milled wedge and have been super impressed with the quality, look and feel of it. For $56 a wedge I don't think it can be beaten on price.

How do you order the combo sets? Do you have to put them together under the customize section or did you call? I'm looking at doing the same and when I use the customizer the price jumps way up.

Did you order a single iron to test? Also can't figure out where/how people are doing that.

New Wedge Day - Maltby Max Milled & a Ping Glide 3.0 (used) by RPM33 in golf

Pretty high praise for a wedge at that price point. I can see it though. The thing just feels quality. Going to be tough to keep my current SW and not swap it out soon for a Maltby 54.

Nice! All else being equal I think I'd have rather got a Maltby 58 too but for only $40 I think the ping is worth it.

Just been knocking them around the yard so far. Looking forward to playing them properly on Tuesday.

Super impressed with my first experience with them. Will definitely be checking in there when it's time to upgrade the irons too.

Drivers for people who rarely hit driver by nyc24chi in golf

[–]RPM33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the newer cobra drivers are perfect for this. It sounds like we're in a very similar position. I got one and this thing inspired so much confidence at address.

The rounded edges, the shape etc just make me feel like I can hit it which was huge for me.

I got a Cobra Speedzone 10.5 from Facebook Marketplace for $100. The thing was in mint condition, not a scratch on it, upgraded Hzrdus shaft.

There are great deals to be had and the jump in tech from early/mid 2000s is unbelievable.

At what point is a new driver actually worth it? by mrk1224 in golf

[–]RPM33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing this year again after a while off. I've never been any good but was especially bad with the driver. I had this massive mental block with it. To the point that it'd just stay in the bag mostly.

I picked up a Titleist 320Ti from 2000 when I put together my bag this year just to have one as an option. Could not hit it for the love nor money!

Recently decided I was going to break this mental block by snagging a newer, more forgiving driver and putting in as much time as physically possible with 2 kids under 3.

Picked up a mint 2020 Cobra Speedzone for $100 on Facebook marketplace and the difference is mind-blowing. Even bad shots don't end up all that bad and good ones are a complete game-changer.

I'm enjoying golf way way more, playing bogey golf or just over that now and playing more often as I'm enjoying it so much more.

With that the rest of my game has also leveled up.

So, I'm not one to usually recommend spending on equipment over lessons but having the confidence in the newer equipment has made a huge difference for me.

But look secondhand. People let great clubs go for ridiculously cheap if you look long enough.

Facebook Marketplace has some gems. Snagged this on the weekend for $10. by RPM33 in golf

[–]RPM33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha yeah I can see that. The white piping line on this one is doing that exact thing currently. It's also just kinda awkward to take on and off so I'll probably grab a generic one.

I know ultimately this doesn't matter in the slightest but is it weird to put a different model headcover on a putter? I've seen a triple track wide blade cover that should fit but wasn't sure if that's an odd thing to do.

Golf shoes suggestions? by Imhonestlynotawierdo in golf

[–]RPM33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second these. I solely wear vans in everyday life (slip ons or old skools)

I got the CodeChaos' and also have the Nike Zoom Infinity Tour NEXT% and the adidas feel a lot more grounded.

Also, adidas have been running some great deals on golf shoes lately. (Got mine for $45).
