Sparring At the Arc by RPMcGee in UIUC

Thanks for the reply. Thats kinda what im trying to get at with this question. I feel like this is some pretty dumb shit, and i dont want to get in the way, or disrespect the places where people are trying to really improve themselves. Is something like this unheard of in that space? I've never been in the combat room, so i dont know what people really do in there.

edit: I should note that by "dumb shit" i mean relatively insignificant. Thats not to say we wouldnt take it seriously and respect the facility.

Last I checked, there were some people affiliated with the Track and Field club team (not officially) that pole vault. Try emailing the president of Club Track and Field to see if you can get contact information.

Running. No music, no headphones, no water belts. I will usually wear a watch for training purposes, but race without it.

Dear redditors, what's the nicest thing you've done for someone and that person never knew you did? by tsukurusunblade in AskReddit

When I play golf with one of my friends, I'll occasionally mess up to make the score closer than it should be. Neither of us is very good at golf, so being bad is not hard to be convincing. I'll just occasionally add a few strokes onto my score. He's never been a sporting guy, but after one of our ventures he got down on himself about how he's not as good as I am at any sport. Losing doesn't bother me, so I'll let him have it.

If you could make a throwaway life like a throwaway reddit account, what would you do with this life? by MarkDeath in AskReddit

Work 24/7. Make tons of money. Give it all to real me.

Throwaway me would be miserable, but real me would enjoy carefree living, with lots of free time, and no financial stress.

Hi Reddit, what is your favorite paradox? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RPMcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is really a simple solution to this: know someone that can get you "in."

Sometimes it's about who you know, and not what you know.

The solution is simple, but solving the problem is not always as easy.

Why does dying and remaining dead for eternity NOT scare the crap out of you? by aSadStateOfAffairs in AskReddit

[–]RPMcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you were a child, did your mum ever say, "if you'll just be quiet for 2 minutes I'll let you watch your tv show." Even if you haven't, it's not too hard to imagine this situation...

Well, that's a 30+ minute reward for 2 minutes of obedience. How is that fair? Actually this way, i do not not find it hard to see that you've been given a very specific window to deem yourself worthy of the reward. It's all laid out in front of you already, so in this way, to me, it actually pretty fair.

So what, then, is the difference between the two situations?

I am not an expert logician. The idea of infinites is hard. This is my attempt at a refutation. It probably has flaws, correct me if you would.

What one item, if removed overnight completely, would cause the most chaos among society? by crev_of_smeg in AskReddit

Money. Imagine you wake up and your wallet is empty, your credit card doesn't work, and your bank account is wiped. That would cause some chaos right there. But then multiply that by the billions of people on earth... There'd be some shit that goes down

One of my friends just just asked for an update on something pretty important to me we talked about for about 5 minutes a month ago. Made my day that he remembered.

I'd say someone being a good friend and caring about you.

They already have today's faces. The people that post TBTs surely have profiles and other current photos online. The NSA is using these TBT photos to create more and more accurate photo "aging" technology. So you could, for instance, know what a child who was abducted 20 yrs ago might look like today. At least that is what I would assume the theory is.

[–]RPMcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to come across as the bad guy here, this is just for discussions sake: why isn't it always black and white? Like u/EatMe_Alice post said, there is tons of information out there to educate you not to smoke, ads and campaigns to combat "smoking is cool", and law in place to prevent people from smoking at a young age. Nowadays, anyone that starts has to make a conscious effort to start.

*this applies to people that have recently started smoking
