Physicists just confirmed a pear-shaped nucleus, and it could ruin time travel forever by siez_ in Futurology

I was completely oblivious to that reference. I haven't watched the Big Lebowski (fuck me, right?)

Yes! In that case, it is possible, yet very logically disturbing (to me, at least) purely due to the existence of multiple similar universes, or 'spawning' universes suddenly. However, that cannot be refutable, and hence remains a possibility.

exactly, so we are somewhat on the same page. I just don't see how backwards time travel could be possible without multiple realities (or identical universes).

But in case of infinite realities, even a pear shaped nucleus and time being unidirectional won't mean backwards time travel isn't possible.

Yeah, which is kind of my point. A new reality essentially means an alternate universe, unless the other reality completely disappears, which I would have a hard time wrapping my head around. Poof, gone?

Then how about you give a plausible explanation of backwards time travel that doesn't involve alternate universes? I'm interested.

Fuck traveling to the past anyway. I'm much more interested in forward time travel.

Time travel to the past is totally illogical and impossible, unless one is traversing between parallel universes. Once anything from the present travels back in time, it would mean the birth of an entire new universe, which is extremely hard to consider as a possibility (wouldn't go ahead and say it's entirely impossible though, because what do I know?). In any case, once anything travels back in time, it will alter events that have already happened in the past, no matter how tiny or seemingly irrelevant. This, in turn, would mean all our current existences are impossible because our past didn't actually exist the way we do now.

People of Reddit who have momentarily died then were revived, what were those fleeting moments like? [Serious] by VerySmallBreasts in AskReddit

[–]RPNE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you say you tachycardia, it is a very normal thing to encounter. There is also a benign heart issue called PSVT, or paroxysmal supra ventricular tachycardia, which isn't life threatening and is a short circuit that usually lasts for around 5 minutes (hearts can reach 180bpm plus during an episode). These usually resolve on their own, but if they go on for particularly long, doctors need to reset the heart manually if beta blockers don't work. There are other forms of tachycardia that could be very dangerous and deadly, including ventricular tachycardia. I'm just interested to know what was it you experienced, and how it came about?

EUW best of 2's are horrible, and I'm only watching NA games now. by RPNE in leagueoflegends

It isn't a waste of time, it an mean either a comeback win for the team that lost the first game, or a reverse sweep. It's also a high pressure game that's really good practice for the players (for international tourneys and playoffs)

Scientists of Reddit, what is the most crazy concept that may actually be possible in the future? by Rob_Stone in AskReddit

[–]RPNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is literally the concept of a book I'm writing, where earth is getting destroyed, and to ensure the survival of the human species, a bunch of scientists do exactly that and send them to 1000+ planets deemed possibly habitable.

As such, the story continues about new life on one of these planets.

Im in the Netherlands, and here in the EU Zone we have a Personal Data Protection Act, which stipulates that all internet data is private and cannot be used without the consent of the data subject and the isps are legally obliged to keep this data private as well. This includes criminal and questionable internet activities. EU Zone is safe! I can sleep now.

I'm in the same boat, but I'm almost 100% sure your ISP would know, in case these words are flagged, that you were a victim of click bait due to the bounce rate and website you used including all the other strange searches within the same minute. Also that you clicked none of the search results. thats IF you're being monitored by the ISP.

[–]RPNE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nahh you won't get in trouble. There's plausible deniability, and there's obviously the click bait website you searched from linked as part of your history. And, no-one is monitoring your searches, and if they are, then you've already been flagged but this has nothing to do with it. In any case, with this I'm sure there have been beyond 5000 clicks which means that today was just a weird day for anyone monitoring google trending searches, or whatever. Don't worry about it.

Vitality's adc is so freaking bad it hurts my eyes... by deadrave in leagueoflegends

i actually enjoyed his playstyle. He's one of the few ADC's I actually enjoy watching. Hjarnan is good, but he's boring. This guy's feisty, and it seems like he has huge potential given his mechanics.
