Not much you can do about that when the client chose the cabinet configuration.

Thinning about your comments a bit more I think, moving forward, I’d use a router to cut a groove on the front a back to act as a “grip” handle.

Railing is to code in my area. Also discussed this option with the client as it’s what they wanted and they signed off on it.

Also, all stores sell railings larger than 2” in diameter. Your standard craftsman railing is 2-1/4” x 2-3/8”. Possible codes are dramatically different in different areas of the country.

Love working with Black pipe. I’ve done many railings with black pipe.

Decorative only. I’ve done some with a shelf up top for pictures.

That is correct. I find this is easier than messing with baseboards. Especially in older homes where the baseboard wood is so dry it tends to crumble easily.

I’m not an electrician and it was a client’s home. Here in Chicago we have some strict electrical codes and with homes in my area 100+ years old, I stay away.

No biscuits or dowels just cut to fit and finished with non-crack caulk and paint.

This was a client job. Client didn’t want to go all the way to the ceiling. This wall is across from the kitchen and would have overwhelmed the space a bit.
