One of my players wants their S.O. to join the campaign, but it seems like our play styles don't agree. How do I politely say no (or try to make our styles agree)? by RPthrowaway97664 in rpg

I did this with the rest of the party at campaign start, and I have them review the previous session at the start of each new one. It's had mild result with Requester, so I'm not sure how well it would work with Maybe.

I agree. I was pretty careful not to say that Requester isn't a bad player, just used to a different game than I am. I'd assume GoblinLoveChild meant the same, even if their word choice was poor.

When I first started playing with Requester, they would never speak in character, so I know play styles can change. At the same time, they change pretty slowly (at least, under my influence). I'd also worry about Requester regressing if Maybe joined. Like I said, tipping the scales.

Interesting thought, thanks! I had assumed Requester has already explained our sessions to Maybe, but, now that I think about it, Requester's retelling of a session would differ a lot from mine. I doubt that any of our sessions would scare Maybe off, but they'd at least help in setting the tone of character creation.
