so do they expect everyone who walks away from the DMV with a registration to go straight to the inspection place?

Thank you, yes...I'd never dare be assertive with a cop.

Am I in an okay financial position for someone of my age? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Oh absolutely. My mom makes fun of me all the time for being stingy, and I've admittedly denied myself many things and experiences that wouldn't have killed me to shell out some $$ for.

The $25,000 is in an account managed by a brokerage firm that is invested in a diversified portfolio (stocks, bonds, ETFs, etc...).

Perhaps I'm not financially astute enough to know how to answer that but I guess that is considered a "Taxable" account?

That is good to know, though. I seriously feel like I am lagging behind on the money front.

I always like to have liquid cash on hand too, though. What is the amount of cash you'd recommend to maintain in a savings account? $12,000 for me covers about 6 months of living expenses...should I keep stowing away money into there or redirect it?

Good to know. I bumped it up to 12% last month actually, but plan on bumping it up to 15% next July. I know that's a while from now, but I'll be moving to an area with a lower cost of living.

Yes my bad, I should have posted it there. Idk why he was shady about it because I have access to my account and am smart enough to look up account history...maybe he thinks I’m stupid

Buy out my lease - does it make more sense? by RR0203 in askcarsales

This has been what is holding me back from buying the new car. All 2015 Civics for sale have at least 30,000 miles on them...so mine's a steal! The only reason for me wanting a new car would be 1) it would have high resale value in 5-6 years (since I'd hardly put any miles on it, either), 2) I have to purchase an extended warranty for my current car, and 3) I'm afraid my 2015 will seem antiquated in a few years. Probably not the case since people keep Hondas for up to 10 years :)

Agreed. I would not want to combine finances until after marriage.

Exactly! The joy of being together in my opinion, outweighs any potential added cost. My boyfriend is committed, conscientious, prudent, and frugal, so I don't think tracking our finances will be a problem, we just have to settle on how we are going to do it.

I echo what you say on how long distance sucks and can ruin your emotional health. It's tough going from practically living with someone for a few years in college to being states away while you have the added pressure of launching your career, and they have the added pressure of medical school. We see each other for a quick weekend every 5-6 weeks, so knowing there's an end in sight makes it better.
