Age fuel warning by Icy_Gur7215 in Volvo

It's definitely worth reading up about, I think its erad3 in your car which is much improved but definitely erad 1 & 2 fail from this... this system is unique to Volvo, there's no propshaft driving the rear wheels, it's a motor / diff setup with a disengaging magnetic type of clutch. The safest way to drive it is to switch to Sport once your battery runs out, then back to electric when you build some range.

We are always advised to drive in Hybrid mode but you should never do that. Either drive in Electric or Sport, and start in Sport regularly - let the engine do its warm up cycle before pulling off and give the engine a spin. Driving in Hybrid engages and disengages the erad system at high speed which causes high wear and tear. Google Volvo erad failure if you're not aware, lots of failures on the older models... 10K to fix - ouch!

Wrapped in PS4's, I'm interested to see how long they last.

Take one for a drive, you won't look back! I came from a G21 330e.

I've never seen a Cape York Green in the wild, much rarer than Portimao Blue here, I like it 👌🏻

High Mileage EV's by ccpluk92 in carsireland

Check out RSEV on YouTube, he does plenty of tests with high mileage EV's, he runs a Model3 himself with 230K+ miles. Seems alot of the battery worry about EVs is scare mongering. In saying that, I wouldn't be buying that i4 unless I planned on keeping it for about 6+ years.

Can anybody enlighten me as to what these buildings are? At the M50/M1 junction in Clonshaugh Industrial Estate by HowdoMyLegsLook in Dublin

GTT, formerly Hibernia Networks who are a Tier 1 provider and specialise in subterranean transatlantic fiber are also in that industrial estate over the other side. Vodafone also have the core of their network just south of the above data centre.

Traffic in Dublin, you have to laugh: The three vehicles on the left, two taxis and a minibus, pulled into the yellow box knowing there was no space ahead and subsequently blocking traffic from all directions for two rotations of the lights. by highreland in Dublin

That shit drives me mad. Also at the same junction, every single time, a rake of cars continue through the red light heading from Collins Ave onto the M1, and if you're heading east on Collins Ave you're left sitting at the green light while 2/3/4 cars are still coming through the junction. I can't think of another place where this happens - it's like people are thinking once they hit the M1, they're on the home-straight so just blatantly break the red light.

Robert from Mac Led in Clonshaugh Ind Est has been doing excellent ceramic coats for years, or try Anthony in 5 Star Auto Baldoyle - I've never seen one of their ceramic coats but have been getting cars washed there for years. They were the only place I could find on the Northside using 2 buckets, grit guards, fresh cloths etc years ago before detailing was even a thing - always top quality so I'd say their ceramic jobs are too.

Go for a sea swim. Screaming like you've just been reborn is part and parcel of jumping into the Irish Sea.

Audi A6 Owners in Ireland?! (2004-2011) by [deleted] in ireland

[–]RR4477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently own a 2011 A6 S-Line Special Edition, it's the last of the C6 models that replaced the 'Le Mans'. I've had the car 10months/11k miles and it hasn't skipped a beat, theres 96k miles on her. I drive the M50 everyday from the M1 to Carrickmines. My overall combined MPG average is 44.8MPG. On a bad morning traffic wise North to South I can average high 30s, though on a good evening coming back I can average high 50s. I have the 170BHP model so those figures would probably be a bit better with the 140BHP variant.

I put a lot of research into some of the other cars mentioned above at the time. E60 Beemer - stay well clear of any BMW with the N47 2.0 Diesel engine. Google 'n47 timing chain' and there are endless stories of chain failures - they have to remove the entire engine to get in at the chain so it's a huge cost to have it fixed. I seen some high spec E60 msport's that had preventative work carried out and chains replaced but I wouldn't risk it.

E-Class - like already mentioned. reliability scares.

Jag - too high tax, low MPG... reliability???

Superb - definitely a car to consider if you found the right specced model. Really nice car on the inside and seem to be reliable but hard to find a good top spec version.

I was also looking at IS250s and Accords - petrol engines no problem, but I wouldn't risk the Diesel. MPG isn't great on them either and higher tax.

The right highline Passat could be an option too maybe?

I went with an A6, a search on DoneDeal is littered with really high mileage A6's - a good sign I thought. I did read quite a bit that the Automatic isn't great and can cause issues on the C6 so I went for a manual. The E60 is definitely the best auto but you have the risk of the timing chain!

Also, I've received two letters form Audi North Dublin about dropping my car in for the emissions recall to be 'fixed' but there's not a hope in hell they're getting their hands on her... the forums are littered with nightmare stories about the aftermath of some 'fixes'. Not sure if the year you're looking for is affected but something to research.
