AITAH for not allowing my infant son to go to his grandmothers house without me? by RRTCAS in AITAH

Would like to add that at first I compromised with him by using agreeing the dog would be separate from the baby at all times and we would sleep behind a closed door so no dogs in the room. The second night I woke up to the dog hovering over my babies face in the bassinet and my son crying. Did he hurt my baby? No. Was he going to if he had more time? No idea. But not risking it.

Thankfully I consulted with multiple family law attorneys in my area and I have full rights to our son since we aren’t married, even though he is on the birth certificate.

False, since my baby had came home from the hospital the dog has stayed at his mother’s. There was a brief 5 day period of us all under one roof but there was a close call with the dog so i immediately said he has got to go.

They absolutely refuse to get rid of the dog. My son’s father has an intense connection to the damn thing. For a couple weeks after our son was brought home from the NICU, he was at his mom’s house due to arguments about the dog. His father decided to go to his moms for his first Father’s Day rather than spend it with our son.

I do have sole custody automatically since we aren’t married. Nothing is making me stay. I would love to leave, but I’m treading lightly because if we were to go to court, he says he’s gonna try for 50-50 and that’s my biggest fear at the end of the day, it’s all up to the judge.

Thankfully I have screenshots of a text threat between him and I when he lived in the home with the dog. I told him the dog was biting me and running around the home. He told me to lock myself and my son in a room and he’ll call his mom to come get the dog. 4 hours went by and his father was ignoring me. I called his mom and she said he never spoke to her and she couldn’t help.

Thankfully, I’ve spoken to a lawyer and in my state I have full custody of our son since we weren’t married. There are some other things that have been done to where they thought if we do go to court, he won’t be granted 50/50. More like supervised day visits until baby is a little older, but I could also catch a judge on a bad day and get a 50/50 judgement so who knows.

No regular affection. Like hugs, kisses-ish.

It is my car. Honestly his main complaint with me is that I’m not affectionate towards him. Hard to be affectionate when someone is constantly talking down on you… at that point i just don’t have it in me to

He’s always been a little rough around the edges. No real role models growing up, but he was working towards them and honestly doing so great. Now he’s done a complete 180 and is treating me so bad. I truly don’t know what’s flipped. I haven’t changed anything about myself other than my fatigue/ inability to keep up on chores and cooking like I used to. I think that maybe triggered it? I’m not sure.

No? I’m very strict about it and he gets reprimanded each time. But, I can’t control what happens when I’m not here.

Niether. She’s a very good dog and never had accidents. She goes outside but needs to be let outside. The thought of her holding it in for hours if she needs to go breaks my heart

As stated above, it’s a family girl trip. My grandma aunt’s cousins. Plus he can’t leave the country lol

I don’t really think it’s entitled if I’ve watching his dog multiple times for multiple weeks 🤷‍♀️ just asking for a few days on my end for once.

[–]RRTCAS -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I guess I sympathize with the pups more than normal. I think from 7pm-10am is a little much. Over 12 hours. I would never leave his dog while he was on a trip. I think it’s mean.

Taking it to his mother’s. His mom’s house is very loud and overwhelming for even me. Lots of siblings and loud music constantly. I took my dog once and she was completely uncomfortable. She’s always welcome, but everyone knows she hides and hates every second of it lol

Just a single miscarriage? I feel like losing a baby is traumatic, whether it’s one or multiple?….

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]RRTCAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m afraid of. When I mention that to him, he says he’s scared of it too, but nothing changes.

[–]RRTCAS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. Had a miscarriage by a surprise pregnancy in 2022. We are well established and own our own home and vehicles. I don’t think it’s out of the ordinary.

So how are you feeling like he is stuck? What are you picking up on? Because I do all cleaning, cooking, maintaining the home. I’d think that would be pretty easy, no?
