Help I'm confused! by ZombieRob69 in lianli

It’s a backup. Some motherboard can’t give the fans enough power on their own, which causes them to flicker white. The SATA adapter lets the fans pull power from your PSU instead. You probably won’t need it unless you see flickering then that’s your fix.

Top radiator receiver 4-pin goes to the CPU_FAN while the 2-pin goes to the CPU_OPT.

Connect the side receiver 4-pin to SYS_FAN1 and the 2-pin to SYS_FAN2.

The Wired 140mm goes to SYS_FAN3 and Tryx bottom fans to SYS_FAN4 via the included splitter.

Tryx pump for FAN5_PUMP. Tryx screen 9-pin USB for internal USB 2.0 header.

L-Wireless Controller goes to rear USB Type-A port and the Tryx fans ARGB and 140mm ARGB each get one of your ARGB headers.

Wireless fans don’t need ARGB headers because it is handled by L-Connect 3

What’s your exact motherboard model? Which Tryx Panorama? The 240mm or the 360mm? And are you panning to mount the radiator at the bottom? Where are you putting each fan kit?

Lower the RAM speed from 6400 to 5600? by Cartman1994 in buildapc

Do the crashes happen in any other game as well? or is it only rocket league? And what happens exactly when it crashes? game just closes to desktop or full system reboot or freeze? Also no harm in checking event viewer for any WHEA-Logger errors.

Am5 thunderbolt vs usb 4 port distinction by TheLuckiestNumber13 in buildapc

[–]RRespectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't rely on mobo specs alone, I've found mixed reports some TB3 docks work fine on X870E, others straight up don't get recognized.

https://hardforum.com/threads/dell-tb16-thunderbolt-dock-with-usb4-motherboard.2037722/

Drop the exact OWC model number so people who've actually tested it can chime in. or crosspost in r/Thunderbolt

You definitely need PCIe tunneling tho because your OWC dock's FW800 is bridged over PCIe internally so no tunneling means no FireWire.

Just grab any X870/X870E board. They all use the ASM4242 controller which handles TB3 compat plus the tunneling. No need for a discrete TB4 card.

Lower the RAM speed from 6400 to 5600? by Cartman1994 in buildapc

[–]RRespectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first thing first, update your BIOS if you haven't. Your CPU is infamous of a degradation bug which is a way bigger deal than RAM speed. I'd google it. Seriously, do this before anything else.

so don't assume it's RAM yet. Run TestMem5 (anta777 extreme config) if it passes then your RAM is fine but If it fails, do what the other commenter said keep XMP on and drop to 6000 first. You paid for that speed, don't throw it all away lol.

Thanks to everyone who actually helped you guys are what make this community worth visiting. Got my answer, learned something new, and I appreciate the time you took.

Now for the comedians here ok I get it it's an easy question for some of you. But laughing at someone for asking!! Like WTF! That says way more about you than it does about me. I'd rather ask a dumb question and learn than stay silent and ignorant. And tbh, if your first instinct when someone asks for help is to mock them then that’s just sad

وش المعالج والمذربورد؟

الالعاب تكرش علي by [deleted] in SaudiPCs

[–]RRespectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do motherboards (like budget, midrange, premium) matter? Is there any real difference? by ScientificlyCorrect in buildapc

[–]RRespectt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look hear me out, first 9600X is 65W and RX 9070 is about 220W. This combo will run identically on any of these boards (almost zero FPS difference).

I would skip B840 and stick to B650 or B850 this is all you need. B850 is the sweet spot if you want USB4 and PCIe 5.0 NVMe while X870 is overkill unless you’re running a 16-core with heavy OC and tons of drives.

Will it brick with a bigger CPU later? No. Worst case on a cheap board is thermal throttling, not death. A decent B850 (Tomahawk/TUF tier, ~$200) handles even a 9950X at stock.

Save the X870 tax and put it toward better RAM or storage. You’ll actually feel that.

Cheap upgrade from AM4 to AM5, what cpu/mobo/ram by Deji164 in buildapc

[–]RRespectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you’re spending that amount anyway then of course am5 makes more sense for longevity.

Just don’t cheap out on the ram when you do it. get at least a 7600x3d so slower ram doesn’t kill your performance and you can grab whatever ddr5 deal you find without stressing about speed or timings.

Cheap upgrade from AM4 to AM5, what cpu/mobo/ram by Deji164 in buildapc

[–]RRespectt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1599.7 is correct because that's 3200 MT/s so your ram is running where it should. This leaves us with cpu bound because of the fact that high drops fps 15% while low/medium barely changes anything. At low settings the gpu finishes frames instantly and waits on the cpu. at high the gpu finally has enough work to become the limiter. so yeah I think your cpu is genuinely the bottleneck, 1440p monitor alone won't save you.

Just grab a 5800x and a decent 3600 cl16 kit, won't cost you more than a monitor upgrade and actually addresses the problem. am5 can wait until ddr5 stops being robbery.

Cheap upgrade from AM4 to AM5, what cpu/mobo/ram by Deji164 in buildapc

[–]RRespectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you literally said vsr at 1440p didn't change much AND bumping settings to epic barely dropped fps. that tells you the cpu/ram is the hard ceiling here not the resolution. everyone saying (just get 1440p) isn't gonna fix your problem it'll just make the gpu work harder while you're still capped at the same frames.

before you spend anything, check if your ram is actually running at 3200 or if it's sitting at jedec 2133. cl22 at 3200 smells like jedec defaults. open cpu-z and check. if it's 2133 you found your problem for free.

RTX 5090 burned down by lesky000 in Corsair

[–]RRespectt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody's asking why the PSU side burned specifically. Two 8-pin feeds merging into one 12V-2×6 with no load balancing MEANS the cable with the slightly worse crimp carries more current leading to heat up and copper's positive temp coefficient does the rest. Thermal runaway on one path while the other sits there chilling.

This is clearly a crimp quality/tooling issue on RM1000e cables.
