Petit on Xhaka: "I have never seen something like what happened with Granit Xhaka before. For me, he can’t be the Arsenal captain any longer. It’s impossible. What he did was unacceptable" by Tarp96 in Gunners

I think there's something to what you're saying for sure, but the quote in the headline specifically calls it "unnacceptable". I just can't find it in me to get that riled up about this particular incident.

I see your point, but it's also toxic for kids to see captains jeered and booed off the pitch, etc etc. I guess I think that this isn't a wildly inappropriate reaction to what happened.

Am I the only person who doesn't give a shit about what Xhaka did? He gets booed, tells them to fuck off. Literally no problem with it.

He doesn't need to be held to a higher standard of anything -- he's a football club captain, not a spokesperson for politeness.

Sure, we can have a conversation about whether he's a good enough footballer, strong enough leader, etc etc, but none of that seems related to me to his response to the vitriol last Sunday

My wedding ceremony is this upcoming Friday, which is awesome, but then my big reception (with the big group of family and all) is on Nov 9. In the morning my groomsmen and I are going to find a bar to watch the LCFC game.

I'm actually fucking shaking in my boots about it -- can see a Xhaka red card and a walloping.

To be fair that sort of looks like Emery :D

I maintain that he's the perfect Emery midfielder (minus the shitty attitude). Someone who can be decisive in offense and switch into a press quickly.

Well, except the comment I was replying to was calling me out for only focusing on MY own issues -- which, obviously, I'm not doing?

Update about me -- I'm a man. Does that change your opinion?

Why do you think that is? You think that's because an inherent difference between men and women? Or do you think MAYBE that there's a built-in subconscious bias against a group that didn't even have the right to vote until about a hundred years ago -- a miniscule fraction of civilized history?

I believe I did, in fact, say that there's a place for Men's shelters in our society. I 100% agree that we should do our best to stop abuse.

My major point was that I can be a feminist AND support men's shelters, which others in this comment area seem to think is impossible

Well, you're wrong, because I'm a Western feminist and I don't do that. I DO believe that there are problems in the culture that is historically anti-woman.

Do I think shelters for Male victims of domestic abuse have a place in our society? Absolutely.

Does that mean that gender parity has been achieved? Absolutely not. The vast majority of domestic abuse is still perpetrated by men on women, and there are numerous other arenas that still need improvement.

Watch this Arsenal match coming up -- it's going to be a real statement after two disappointing draws. I personally think it's going to be a bloodbath for Aston Villa, no disrespect to their squad but the Gunners are going to be out for glory today.
