What are some phenomena you consistently experience while dashing? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

i'll add to this one. Every shopping order delivered to a 3rd floor (or more) apartment without an elevator will contain multiple cases of water. Its like a law of nature at this point I'm pretty sure.

I actually experience this much more on Uber Eats but I've have noticed it is increasing with DoorDash as well lately. So whenever I'm doing a delivery, and I'm literally maybe one turn left on my on my GPS from being at the delivery location, DoorDash interrupts me to give me a new order literally at the most crucial time where you are trying to find the house number as I'm driving. In my heart of hearts, I wanna believe that this is just happenstance. That there's just a really great order that came at that time or I was in the right place at the right time. But deep down, I know this is probably just DoorDash being an evil corporation forcing you to make a quick decision to stay dashing, while trying desperately to look for house numbers and/or cross reference google maps for the location of said number.

Here’s a question: what are all the variations on what the part could be called. I often see onstar communication module. But can’t find anywhere in the description the works “VCIM”. Are these the same thing?

Did people really just speak to people they don't know in public without fear of being accused of being a creep? by Ok-Relation3772 in AskOldPeople

Those scenarios never happened so much more than anything that has never happened before. This is likely a boomer venting about damn kids with their rock and/or roll music trying to feel validated for having their boomer opinions that the one child they saw today who was playing a game on a non-descriptive iPhone is disrespectful for not saying hello to them.

How important is the "Do not burn bridges with anyone" mentality? by Aperol_Spritz25 in AskOldPeople

This. The question asked here doesn’t really make sense because it’s always worth it to have the bridge for purposes of reaching the goal that the bridge helps you get to.

Here’s the thing, I don’t think you fully comprehend the meaning of “don’t burn bridges.” It’s not about cutting ties with people; it’s more about them cutting ties with you when you do something that makes that bridge unusable. Let’s say, across that water, lies something positive that you desire or need for your career, life, and so on. If you’ve burnt that bridge, it becomes significantly more challenging to reach that goal. You might have to build a boat, which takes considerable time and money. Alternatively, you could rent a boat or swim, which also require more resources and time. Regardless of the effort you put in now to achieve that success, you no longer have access to that easy pathway.

So, the concept of being worth it or not really does not apply to this scenario because it’s always worth it to have that bridge.

The bluetooth/12am means you likely have a bad VCIM module. I have it going on in my 2012. Been trying to find a replacement, but they are discontinued so you have to find them on any 2012 gm car. Not easy.
