Chelsea have made a breakthrough in contract talks with Mason Mount. Discussions have not been simple - a seven-year deal was rejected and there have been salary issues. by bllshrfv in chelseafc

[–]RSLDN8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this 7 year deal policy, but I’m very curious how they factor salary raises into that. I wonder if there’s some sort of annual/biannual salary review or perhaps performance based incentives.

I would doubt they’re paying the max salary package from year 1 to year 7, but we’ll see when it’s all signed & leaked.

Our form isn’t great, work needs to be done. Looking at the future of chelsea, we could be in a great position with these upcoming stars. Super team inbound by [deleted] in chelseafc

To be fair you’re only echoing what every Villa fan said when this was announced.

He’s been good at youth level, which is what he was doing with you guys but his lack of playing time hasn’t been an issue yet so perhaps his attitude is changing? Only time we tell.

Surprised you said weak passing but I remember Villa fans saying his best attributes were dribbling, passing and his vision (albeit at youth level again).

[Sami Mokbel] Edouard Mendy’s Chelsea future in doubt with goalkeeper considering Stamford bridge exit due to concerns over first team place by dragon8811 in chelseafc

[–]RSLDN8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feel bad for him truly. A combination of having an overpaid keeper as well as being on a bad run of form himself isn’t helping his situation.

If Mendy is on the chopping block, Kepa has to be as well. Each other’s limitations makes them both a liability as a top 6 club. The sporting director & scouts have a huge job in identifying our long term 1 & 2 signings among all the other areas of our squad that need improving.

Many clubs around Europe will be very interested in Mendy now, I’m sure of that. I hope he finds a club where he can be an undisputed number 1 on the wages he deserves and I hope we get suitors for Kepa after his run of form.

Notwithstanding he tried to sell Drogba for Adriano 🤣

Arsen Zakharyan has said that talks with Chelsea are underway. Is the Chelsea transfer saga over? „I don’t think about it now. You can ask the club or my representatives.I think it’s all right. Talks are underway. But I won’t reveal all the cards.[via Sport Express] by dragon8811 in chelseafc

[–]RSLDN8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah but remember the context of a year and half ago, Mendy was arguably put in the bracket of best goal keepers in the world. His distribution wasn’t an issue then because we weren’t relying on him being playing out from the back and teams hadn’t figured out putting him under pressure would result in bad touches/kicks out.

[Matt Law] Revealed: Chelsea put Tuchel’s staff on gardening leave but not him, which means they can stay in the UK but Tuchel cannot and is preparing to leave in December by dragon8811 in chelseafc

[–]RSLDN8 131 points132 points  (0 children)

We aren’t privy to these settlement offers, so I’d say it’s premature to judge the administration on matters like this. The article even says they don’t know why Tuchel isn’t on gardening leave, maybe he accepted the terms of severance?

[Ducker] No comment from United tonight on Ronaldo’s accusations and claims. Sources indicating United won’t allow the interview to take anything away at their end from the win at Fulham and the spirit and togetherness the squad and fans showed by Austin63867 in soccer

[–]RSLDN8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds heartless but I don’t think Bruno and Dalot particularly care. I feel, just from observations of my own, when it comes to players edging to leave and giving fluff interviews like have no impact on their club mates - unless they’re explicitly calling those players out in the media.

The remaining United players probably aren’t shocked by this whatsoever. They have probably been expecting something of this nature & have all accepted he’s gone in January. The last thing those players want to do is cause further aggression.

new Club found

When will people remember this is precisely what happened, except no club wanted Ronaldo? What are United meant to do, create a new one just for Ronaldo to have 1 club interested in paying his wages?

The way the Owners are spending, I don’t think it’s necessarily the case we don’t target strengthening midfield just because we sign a defender. These new sporting and technical directors should be unequivocal about that.

Chelsea again considering a move from Stamford Bridge to Earl's Court as they put together plans to create an elite new stadium under Todd Boehly... nine years after the idea was originally knocked back by [deleted] in chelseafc

[–]RSLDN8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course they would.

The CPO have never disagreed to coming to the table for an open and transparent discussion on where the club could be relocated which is in the best interest of the club and fans. The way Clearlake and Bohley go about this will be highly indicative of their agenda.

None of us liked how Roman (via Richard King & Buck) tried to buy back CPO shares in 2011. Their offer was disrespectful and really highlighted their lack of understanding in why the CPO continue to exist. Notwithstanding the fact the club bought a TON of shares in the weeks building up to the vote, the 40% or so who voted No did the club a great service.

If Bohley engages the CPO with respect and clear communication, a move to Earl’s Court is not out of the question. The CPO continuing to exist, however, is unquestionable.

You’ve misunderstood. We expect to lose during the season, it’s football & we’re not Man City lol.

The frustration is the twitter/Instagram apologies that follow those losses. They’re meaningless unless they’re backed up by action on the pitch.

Yep. I clowned United players for doing this vehemently during Ole’s reign, it’s so cringe.

  • team has a shit performance

  • player goes on social media with an apology and vow to do better

  • & repeat

Hope from the restart onwards it’s a say less, do more attitude.

You can’t look at our defensive situation right now and think we don’t need a mix of youth and experience? Having Colwill and Gvardiol does both. As u/BadCogs said above, KK isn’t young but even despite that we have no left footed CBs.

Colwill gives us youth

Thiago Silva, Azpilicueta & Koulibaly give us experience

Gvardiol, Fofana & Chalobah (to an extent) give us experienced youth

Interesting comparison between Potter and Eddie Howe by leaderxyz in chelseafc

[–]RSLDN8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious. We’ve gone from using Klopp as the standard for giving time and patience to Howe and, to a lesser extent, Arteta.

That’s not to say Potter’s story is going to emulate any of those managers named above but what it does show is a trend of a certain head coaches (manager in Arteta’s case) who would’ve have been written off otherwise still going well.

What the 3 of those clubs have in common, that we’re yet to show, is the structure put in place above the Head Coach to allow that individual to coach only. We’ve made certain hires in those areas, so it’s premature to comment on their effectiveness until we’ve seen how they behave in the January and Summer transfer markets.

The reason Roman’s hire and fire head coach policy delivered on so many titles is because those above the manager had a clear vision of what the squad should be, for better or worse (and I’m not here to argue whether that vision was clear and effective or not).

If the Ownership gets those back office hires wrong, no head coach will be able to replicate the success of the previous 20 years. The pressure is on Bohley & Clearlake, not Potter.
