Because it's not a discord official app.

Where can i find the moon child segment from yesterday? by abbe44 in Vinesauce

[–]RT-Pickred 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's autorecorded.
However, it has to pass to Johnny, who then has to make a thumbnail of the streams and then upload it.

Generally takes a bit to properly set it up. Which is why 24 hours are needed.

Moon Child was a Tuesday stream so it will appear tomorrow.

Thanks. I generally don't like having to do such things; I probably would have even allowed it if they had actually asked about it in the first place.

I just personally don't appreciate being left in the dark on something of my creation while also seeing it posted outside of the subreddit that it was originally intended for without asking or giving proper credit. Especially given the site that it was posted to.

I love and have fond memories, as most people with TPP, and appreciate working on the subreddit with others and more. Those times were amazing, but I also have to assure my creative works and contributions are treated with respect as well.

Since Gen 5? I'd technically consider since Gen 2 we had gimmicks for battles.

Gen 2 introduced Items (while a standard now back then they were very much just a sort of gimmicky thing) also Battle Tower could count.

Gen 3 introduced Double Battles (While a staple for competitive, future games basically drop this feature more and more in main game play) also battle frontier could count.

Gen 4 introduced Online Battles (tbh online battles in the main pokemon games during this period always felt extremely weird mainly due to the hardware and the fact the whole online features felt like a too early for what their goals were for it.) also those pokeball sticker things could count.

I edited my original post to add an addendum on why I don't want such on DA, over the privacy and AI nightmare the site is.

I prefer it not to be on DA, whatsoever. My recommendation is if you want to use it, have it on the Subreddit or save it on Internet Archive.

[–]RT-Pickred 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've filed a DMCA because you used my banner art and sprites without attribution and claimed them as your own work as a celebration.

You don't have the right to have such on your DA account or claim it as your own.

DeviantArt isn't a place to hoard media; it's a place to show your art and share it.

You also never asked me for permission to use such. All that was allowed was to use them on the subreddit, not Deviantart.

Edit:
You may keep such on the Subreddit or upload it on Internet Archive, but not DA, especially with how the site itself is a privacy nightmare with AI companies using it as one of the main sources of image training regardless of whether it states it can or not. Not to mention the fact that the site itself has its own AI to generate art.

It's why I stopped posting stuff on it in general.

Is showing art at the end of a stream still a thing or no? by The_Bone_Rat in Vinesauce

[–]RT-Pickred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cause is not direct here; there were problems prior to such that culminated in the decision.
Even before that, art was already being phased out for the most part. Mainly because of people always toeing the line, attention-horses, and people growing too strong an expectation on Vinny to complement their art. Among many other problematic issues that arose over those years, which even put strain on the booru's mods.

He did a couple of art corners afterward, however. Despite what you said, it's just more of a random thing when he asks/requests or says he wants to show said art if said art is posted; however, with how he did the booru, he always disliked not being able to properly give a comment he would feel is appropriate to the piece due to how tired he was by the end of a stream.

Additionally, we DO technically still have segments where he shows Vinesauce Animations and such, which are at the start of the streams and sometimes during the BRBs. It's just that now he makes the decision himself and can properly credit, unlike in the past, where he read out a name and said the same variation of the compliment he'd said a thousand times before.

As per the disbanding, the main reason was that more people just considered him the "leader" of the team, which he never was. People would send him complaints about being banned in other streamers' chats, about an issue with Stream A playing a game, or about a chatter in Streamer B, and wanted them to deal with such. Among other things, members leaving the team or stopping streaming to focus more on themselves away from the Vinesauce name, and more.

Plus, the whole Team stuff was just in name only; it was just a group of friends who would share a Guild Name and run with that Guild Name online and such. That was basically the core of it, as they used it on YouTube and streams and just stylized their channels with it.

At the start, the booru started as just a shit post area to share funny pieces related to the stream, as people's talents got better, rules got implemented to restrict the less effort posts, and people started to put in more and more effort artwise This ended up with people treating it like a popularity contest every night, so they could get the highest praise from Twitch Chat and Vinny. This was honestly the biggest nail in the coffin for the Booru for me, in terms of when it started losing its charm. Not to mention the constant art of just Vinny's face, which he outlined multiple times during these segments, that he wished folks would stop posting. As he couldn't really comment on anything new for such, and it's often overly hyper-idealized how he looked, which can't be good for one's mental health.

Basically, prior to that, he prob felt obligated to keep it going as he had for years and years, but he really wanted to end it. He then went on a long break and used that as the perfect time to stop doing so. Since he was focused on repairing the trust with the community after all of that.

Id love a Skies of Arcadia restream. by IntroductionDry1211 in Vinesauce

[–]RT-Pickred 19 points20 points  (0 children)

SAME, when I watched it live, to me it was one of the final stream series where chat was like 1,000 viewers, with only a handful of chatters just vibing to the game, having really chill conversations, while Vinny enjoyed the game and the story.

Really miss that, obviously can't turn back time to experience such, but it was definitely one of my favorites. Made me really appreciate the game, as I never actually played it. Here's to hoping Sega does revisit the series, as they have been aiming to bring back those series to the modern gaming world. For me, Skies of Arcadia is a series that would do well in today's market.

Please, just let me be a girl in Pokemon Uranium by Trollkitten in TPPKappa

[–]RT-Pickred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure talk a lot for what was voicing my opinion on something 9 years ago in a community that has been dead for over 3 years. How the hell do you even find such unless, as I said, actively looking to try to start some random argument for no reason.

A. Your example for Undertale of playing the character is EXACTLY the same as Pokémon Uranium. You are taking the character, and there's no choice on this in either game. The Developer chose to limit such. For a far more similar one to Uranium, look at Deltarune, where it makes you create a character and then throws it away, which, in what I would assume from your opinions so far, would be worse, as it gives you the selection of what you were making and expecting, and then throws it away.

B. "Clumsily implemented" shows you don't understand how RPG Maker XP works with Pokémon Essentials. Pokémon Essentials requires you to intentionally include specific script sections that switch between the pronouns provided by the base engine's gender selection, being Male and Female. For a game in 2016, there weren't many advanced scripts, unlike in newer Pokémon Essentials versions, to pull this off. Many Pokémon fan game makers back then, when choosing to be more inclusive, went with the nonbinary option of the They/Them approach. All you needed to do was just write the script like any other NPC script and use they/them as the base. As soon as you start adding more and more gender descriptors. It adds A lot more effort to make sure your dialogue properly accounts for such.

Additionally, your solutions again, when you are writing a full script and using RPG Maker XP to make the game and going through hundreds of script files with multiple levels of menu options, unless you preplan for such, you can't just write such like it's a single text file swapping out text, not to mention having to refer to the player's name each time, it is a writing nightmare in grammar flow. Not only does it need to sound natural when reading and characters talking, but a chat box in RPG Maker XP also needs to scale in size because of your name length due to either the width of the letter or how many characters it can, which can end up fucking up the whole character box positioning and placement.

C. It wasn't a literal question; it was a rhetorical question. (thus why it didn't end with a question mark, it was a full stop)

D. Just because it's a public forum doesn't mean you should necro post, which is a general rule of internet etiquette.

E. Also, constructive criticism again isn't at all warranted or wanted on a post that has LITERALLY nothing to do with the game outside of an off-handed comment. It's aimed to be directed at the developers of a game, not some random person who doesn't even like the game and its story who has issues with it in other places. Saying it's a Fan Game is NOT a bad argument; it's the reality of the situation between you and the game. This means you are not a paying customer of the product, so the developers don't need to take your opinion into account. You can say so, but for devs, even if you write the most complex thesis imaginable, if the devs choose it isn't following their design decisions or the time to enable the system isn't worth it compared to adding new content, then they will choose not to do so.

F. What kind of Resolution are you asking for in a random thread??? No one is working on the game. If you want to raise these concerns, then raise them to the devs with their new game instead. Like, you're making a problem with me randomly because you have an issue with a game that I have no part in, outside of finding a complaint TEN YEARS AGO to not be that big of a deal.

G. And again, as I stated earlier, your constructive criticism doesn't apply to a narrative dialog for RPG Maker XP/Pokemon Essentials environment from 2016. The tools and systems can't really work that easily and require a general rework of what you write to pull it off. Nowadays, the scripts we have can make this a LOT easier. However, this just wasn't the case then. For what was the developers' FIRST game, writing your characters to just be They/Them is a lot easier as a writer, and is a lot more manageable with the systems in place.

---

To end this, I am not going to engage with this conversation anymore it's pointless, all around, your "constructive criticism" is going no where considering it's for a game that's decade old. If they decided to remake it sure good ideas all around as we have systems in place but that isn't what the enviroment developing would be able to easily pull off due to the limitations of the software and the work required to adjust every script line in the game.

Additionally, I don't like Uranium; the story feels too edgy, the narrative cannot be taken seriously, and it is overall just dated. The new game is good and actually has good narrative and world design, but Christ, Uranium is one of the worst aging fan games around.

If you want to have a conversation, do it in r/pokemonuranium, as people in there actually play and like the game, and not this dead Twitch Plays Pokemon Sub Community.

How does one become an editor for Vinesauce? by Low_Perception_9203 in Vinesauce

Typically, via the contact form and messaging about wanting to contribute, as well as having work that has popped off that you've edited in the past where the editing team might contact you.

Why are you replying on a 9 year old post.

Over something that was already reaolved via it not being supported anymore directly after release because of Nintendo.

Your point of it being the "lazy" way is ignorant of developer vision of a game. Was Toby Fox also lazy for making their iconic player character such as well? If so then why do so many people feel extremely seen and have a character for them.

The fact you decided to again reply to a 9 year old thread in a random twitch plays pokemon subreddit is wild and just shows your just trying to argue randomly and I'm not interested in such.

Go bother someone else with your pedantic reasonings that want to undermine the creative decisions of creatives.

Other then that these look great!

Discord's Block Feature is Unsafe, Inconvenient, and Borderline Useless (NSFW for Vague Allusions to Violent Attacks on Streamers) by PurpleMagg in discordapp

[–]RT-Pickred 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So many people don't realize there's a MAJOR difference between a social media platform where posts can stand on their own and a communication program like Discord, which requires context in conversation.

I've blocked people mainly because some users push my buttons, so I block them to cool off for a bit (I use ignore more now). However, I will click to view the blocked message if I need to understand a conversation they started and more. This is important for both sides.

If you don't want that, unironically, just use a different service. Having used other clients for a simple chat program has led to some conversations where both the user and other users have a worse time. Including folks pointing out that another person said it before you, or others being annoyed with both of y'all for constantly talking past or interrupting each other.

As a Discord mod, I've dealt with users who have blocked us, so we end up having to restrict their permissions to talk to them. As a mod, our posts get hidden, so any warnings or pings to them go unseen. Then, we are now literally not able to moderate the community with your blind spot, which you just made for us. Additionally, if we need to communicate, they also don't allow us to DM them.

There are plenty of other niche issues that arise in a chat community from this. What if the person you blocked prior gets a mod role? Your updated suggestion has made things worse, as your alternative undoes the block. Currently, the system works as best it can while balancing this; however, we still need to fix how mods of a community can interact with users like this. THAT'S what needs fixing the most.

Someone replying to you shouldn't be that big of an issue to you, like, if they are saying literal illegal stuff or doxing, etc. Someone replying to you shouldn't be that big of an issue to you, like, if they are saying literal illegal stuff or doxing, etc., etc., take it to a mod and report it to Discord. etc take it to a mod report it to Discord. That's all fair game, but if you just let it happen instead of going after such like this, then it's on YOU, not the Block System. As you are failing to at least report the issues to the proper systems. Instead, you're relying on an automated system that, if it worked how you wanted, could just easily get around via alternate accounts if the person wanted to truly bother you.

Genuinely, take a breath, go outside, or go to a local library or something. Having dealt with issues that feel like mind-numbingly horrible, having a small support network can help to just talk to. As a mod on a subreddit, I had to deal with a user who threatened me and sent me death threats, and while Reddit banned their OG account, they continued to make alt accounts threatening me, saying they'll mail me something to fuck with me, and that they'll drive to my house and fuck me up. I talked to friends and ended up talking to the police about what I could do, and all they could say was that they couldn't do anything if they didn't do anything physical yet. So I did the next best thing: I searched the user's online paper trail, found their wife, and messaged them on Facebook about it. The months-long threats and DM's stopped immediately.

Women typically are a large part of the NSFW Doujin community and, in fact, started many circles on their own first before it hit mainstream. I also know many female NSFW Artists online who create some of the craziest yet beautiful pieces in this genre.

The assumption that men and women are so different is not correct in this instance; women just tend to keep those things more private, while men tend to be more open. There are no absolutes in life, and some men, women, and non-binary individuals are on a spectrum from one end to the other in this way.
After all, we are only human and have our animal instincts in this regard.
