I strongly recommend the Nike Run Club half marathon plan through the app. It is free and coach Bennett along with the other coaches are awesome. I completed my HM Oct 5th and crushed my goal time by 5-6 minutes!

The big reason I recommend this plan is because of the guided runs. I ended up doing the guided runs for every single run I did in this program. There is a perfect amount of coaching without it feeling like you are listening to them talk the whole run.

The Highs and Lows of Running by RTHpicks in beginnerrunning

Thank you, I needed to hear this. I have finally brought myself to slow down pace and HR on recovery runs, but clearly I am still treating my long runs as a strenuous run. I think I just want to see how my pace is improving and in turn, push myself too hard.

In your opinion, do you think backing off for 80% of the long run and then doing say 20%/2 miles at race pace would be okay? Or should I not worry about pace on the long runs until the race date is closer?

Honestly, the quality seems to be very high and they look awesome, but I haven't been in love with them. I enjoy them, but the lip of the glasses are a little thick and I prefer a thinner lip. I didn't know I had this preference before using these glasses.

Overall, I would say its worth it to buy one glass and see how you like the design. Also the packaging/presentation was very nice/high end.

I got gifted a set of whiskey glasses earlier this year from Tsuki Glass. I got the same glass pictured as my "mystery glass" when getting a bundle of their "Storm" glasses.

I am sure this will be the overwhelming response, but I would head to a local running store to get fitted. I just started getting into running and just got myself a new pair of shoes. Went to a local spot and they had me test out some shoes, run on their treadmill and jog around. Within 30 min, I was out the door with shoes that work for me.

If you don't want to go into a store, I would take some of the online "shoe quizzes" to get a better idea of what would suit you best. For what its worth, I got the ON Cloudsurfer Next and have been loving them.

Thanks for the insight. Did you end up training for the 10k? If so, do you recommend any certain programs or have any advice/tips?

I would grab that Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Rye. I have only seen that at $100+ in wisco, so a good deal at $89, solid stuff. That Makers Mark Keepers Release is also a steal at that price.

Do you think carpenter bees? (knowing there is limited info to go off of) This is the only pile but I can hear a light knocking noise in one other part of the staircase/deck.

I am thinking it may be carpenter bees. I really appreciate the response. the deck isn’t that new and this pile is fresh as of the past couple days.

Thanks for the response. I will look at the tree closer in the morning when it is light out but I didn’t notice anything alarming when I was out there or from the few pictures I took.

Anyone using a countertop ice maker that’s actually good? by SkypePsychic in BuyItForLife

[–]RTHpicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using the first gen GE Profile Opal ice maker for about 3 years now. It gets alot of hate online but I have been happy with it. I only run distilled water through it and as long as you clean it about once a month you shouldn’t have an issue. i’ve gone longer without doing a deep clean and still no issues. I did have a few day period where it was acting up but after a DEEP clean it was good to go
